Rocket fuel pumps
Kalina, Adam ; Sluše, Jan (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the pumps used in rocket technology, their operating parameters and general geometry. Particular attention is paid to inducers. Their influence on cavitation in pumps and overview of the different types that are used in various rocket engines. Is mentioned here how cavitation is created, what are the types of cavitation and its impact on the operation of the pump.
Cavitation erosion
Lecnar, Lukáš ; Hudec, Martin (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on cavitation erosion and it is divided into two main parts. The first part is devoted to the search of cavitation erosion focusing on erosion mechanisms. In the first chapter of this search is briefly described cavitation process and different types of cavitation are listed here. Hydrodynamic cavitation which is the key type for this bachelor’s thesis is described in the following chapter. The final and the most extensive chapter is devoted to cavitation erosion of solids which is largely associated with the effects of the mechanical action of the fluid. The second part is devoted to the experimental study of cavitation erosion of samples. The goal was to document the experiment which was carried out in order to gain knowledge about the material removal by cavitation erosion.
Flow visualization
Vavrla, Zdenek ; Šperka, Oldřich (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with fluid flow visualization methods in the air and water. First brief characteristic of the basic concepts of fluid flow is described, such as streamline, laminar and turbulent flow. The described visualization methods are divided into certain types and are used for fluid or gas. These methods provide a qualitative view of the flow and create the overview of the characteristics of gas or liquid flow. Some of these methods are simple and some are more complex. Finally, a simple experiment of liquids flow visualization is described by very powerful laser pointer.
Vortex ring
Zaremba, Matouš ; Šperka, Oldřich (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
The aim is to design equipment for the production of a vortex ring. The work deals with design of equipment, manufacturing and experimental verification of the functionality of some experiments with vortex rings. The work also includes a theoretical part which mathematically describes the motion of the vortex ring.
Draft tube role in hydraulic turbine performance
Havlát, Pavel ; Himr, Daniel (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the problems of draft tube. It contains basic description of draft tubes, their division and possibilities of their utilizations. Further, this thesis focuses on description of draft tubes, their efficiency, losses and ways to eliminate these losses. One part of this work also mentions basic relationships required for computing length of draft tube, velocity of the fluid in the draft tube and others.
From tornado to hydraulic turbine
Jízdný, Martin ; Rinka, Lukáš (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with vortex motion and contains two main parts. The first part refers to the principles of creation and evolution of vortex motion in nature and in technological applications. In both of these fields it is possible to find positive and negative impacts of vortex motion which influence the world significantly. The second part of this bachelor thesis refers to an experiment which main goal was to verify some selected qualitites of vortex motion and to determine hypothesis based on measurements. The final part of the experiment deals with the different methods of making vortex motion visible in laboratory conditions.
Hydraulic losses in pipes
Štefan, David ; Kubálek, Jiří (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
The work deals with the effect of friction losses in pipes. Calculation of specific energy losses using the Darcy-Waisbach relationship. Calculation of friction coefficient in all areas of turbulent flow using the relations available, their comparison on the basis of average absolute deviations of calculated values from the values of Nikuradse chart. The result is the most accurate relations recommendations for the calculation of in different regions, graphic depiction of relations in Nikuradse diagram and evaluation of their performance.
Study of hydroenergy potential exploitation of given location
Kollár, Martin ; Hudec, Martin (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
For the objective of my Bachelor`s thesis I chose an assessment of hydropower potential and a design of machinery in the small hydropower plant construction on the river Váh in Trenčianske Biskupice site. I divided hydropower potential into three parts. First part is the past then present and last is future status. I have subsequently used these information in the design of machinery, including turbine and its associated penstock and draft tube. Part of my thesis also contains appropriate design solution for control gate of intake and outflow, trash rack and trash rack machine. I prepared and presented two possible alternatives together with the drawing documentation which are at the end of my paper compared and evaluated.
Using SolidWorks for model preparation in CFD
Švaňhal, Radek ; Klas, Roman (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis objective is to analyze utilization of program SolidWorks for preparing CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) models. First part describes the process of modelling a finite volume of a Francis turbine rotor. Also, the most useful functions and modelling procedures are presented. Second part analyzes pros and cons of using SolidWorks for CFD model preparation. In the last part the model is imported to pre-processor Gambit where meshing tools and procedures are introduced. In conclusion the thesis summarizes the main benefits of using a stand-alone specialized CAD software for CFD modelling.
