Sklenářová, Simona ; Pelán, Jiří (advisor) ; Flemrová, Alice (referee)
This thesis aims to introduce the Italian writer Grazia Deledda and analyze her three Sardinian novels: La via del male (The way of evil), Elias Portolu (Elias Portolu) and Canne al vento (Reeds in the Wind). At the beginning, I briefly summarize the sociographic situation of the island of Sardinia in the middle of the 19th century as it had considerable influence on the author and her writings. I also include the bio-bibliographical section, which chronologically portrays Deledda's personal life and her literary works. The central themes of her works are passion, sin and their subsequent atonement. The protagonists suffer especially in the depths of their hearts and dialogue and struggle with their conscience. Lyrical descriptions of the land are also a distinguishing feature of Deledda's writing, together with portrayal of local traditions and customs with the occasional inserted text with Sardinian words, specifically the writer's Nuoro dialect. Finally, I try to compare all three works and attempt to locate their constant and variable features and gain insight into the female characters within Sardinian communities. In the appendix, I review the reception of Deledda in the Czech speaking lands and include a brief history of the island and Deledda's personal photos.

(in English) This bachelor thesis deals with the portraits of three authors of Italian Grotesque Theatre in the years of 1916-1924, such as Pier Maria Rosso di San Secondo, Luigi Chiarelli and Luigi Antonelli. The introductory chapter presents the theatre and analyses authors' unique poetics, which, however, cannot be perceived as the programmatically defined theatrical movement. The first section of each chapter is dedicated to the authors' biographies, the second part to the analysis of their best known plays, such as Marionettes, what a passion! (1918), The mask and the face (1913), The man who encountered himself (1918) in the order given. By doing that, the thesis tends to reveal significant features of the above mentioned authors' poetics and analyse the development and changes of the themes and the artistic devices used in their works. The final chapter summarises the gained facts and observations and compares the authors' production in the Italian theatrical context of the time.

This is based on two major works, the novels: L'Eredità and Perfidie del caso. A brief insight into the language of Pratesi's works with emphasis on regional and dialect influences is considered too. Doležal Nováková, Lucie ; Pelán, Jiří (advisor) ; Polišenská, Vladimíra (referee)
This thesis studies forgery which appears in selected novels by Umberto Eco. They are Foucault's Pendulum, Baudolino and The Prague Cemetery. At the beginning theoretical basis of Eco's thoughts about the structure and character of forgery is described. Later different types of forgery are identified in the selected novels. The part about Foucault's Pendulum describes not only the forgery itself, The Plan, but also the theoretically-historical basis of the novel as well as conspiracy theories and the political and social situation in Italy in those days. The part about Baudolino describes the historical forgery - The Realm of Prester John and The Grail Legend, which we can find in fiction books these days. The last studied novel, Eco's latest, The Prague Cemetery involves antisemitism and concerns the creation of an irrational xenophobic document, which entered history under the name of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The part of the thesis about thisnovel also concerns theoretical thoughts about a creation of an enemy, which Eco described in his book Inventing The Enemy. The conclusion of this thesis summarizes results of the search for the forgery in the selected novels and the way Eco uses historical forgeries in his fiction works.
