Czech public opinion on the rights of homosexuals – May 2018

In May 2018, CVVM included a block of questions related to tolerance of Czech society towards homosexual oriented men and women into its regular survey Our Society. At the same time, there were questions focused on the attitudes of citizens whether homosexual people should have certain rights: right to enter into a registered partnership, to marry, to adopt children from "institutions" - so-called children's homes, and to adopt the children of their partner. The highest support has gained the right to enter into a registered partnership – 74 % of respondents stated that homosexuals should have this right. We also asked whether respondents have some homosexual people among their friends or acquaintances. According to our research, 34 % of Czech citizens have homosexual friends. On the other hand, 55 % of respondents said they have none.

Citizens on conflict in Syria – April 2018

In April survey (2018) the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the conflict in Syria. The survey examined how Czech public is interested in the story of Syria's conflict, what Czech citizens think of some possibilities for the Czech Republic to participate in the process of resolving the situation in Syria and how they perceive the impact of the conflict on Czech, European and global safety.

Opinions on European Integration – April 2018

In the opinion poll carried out in April 2018 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding attitudes of Czech citizens towards integration in the EU were included. More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinion on values of democracy, equality, collaboration, tolerance, fairness, and solidarity being successfully exercised in the EU. Furthermore, respondents were asked about their views on economic, political, cultural, defense and ecological integration in the European Union. Lastly, attention was given to the belief that the EU decisions are in the interest of the Czech Republic and of the people like themselves.

Public opinion on foreign nationals settling in the Czech Republic – March 2018

In March 2018 the Public Opinion Research Centre examined as a part of its survey the opinions of the Czech public on long-term or permanently residing foreigners in the Czech Republic. Specifically, there were examined attitudes whether there are too many, appropriate amount, or too few foreigners living in the country, whether foreigners should have the right for the long-term residing in the country and whether the state should allow them to settle here permanently. There were also examined the reasons for the acceptance of immigrants and whether they should adapt to Czech customs.

Comparison of number and location of the Russia and international coallition air attacks in the Syrian conflict

This bachelor thesis aims to compare the activities of the Russian army and the international coalition - Combined Joint Task Force, which is officially led by US military forces, in Syria, where there is ongoing civil war since 2011. The spatial differences of the air raid targets are evaluated by using spatial visualization of the Russian and the coalition aircraft actions in GIS. Methodologically, the targets of air raids were obtained from a text database of air attacks, according to which maps were created in ArcGIS software. This bachelor thesis also aims to determine which parts of the Syrian territory are targeted by the Russian air force and which by the international coalition, and to explain the interests of Russia and the US in the context of Syrian civil war and global geopolitics.

Political-Military Risks for Tourism in the Middle East

Political-Military Risks for Tourism in the Middle East Abstract The master's thesis analyses the perception of political-military risks for incoming tourism in the Middle East from the perspective of Czech potential tourists. The examined area of the Middle East bears some geographic and geopolitical ideas, that are still absent in the Czech scientific milieu. Tourism in the Middle East also operates in the environment of political-military risks. Scholarly literature suggests that these risks represent one of the main factors influencing the choice of destination. The paper deepens understanding of this relationship by focusing on the perception of political-military risks in space, in terms of their typological diversity, and analyses determinants of this perception. The main research tool, a questionnaire, served to collect data that was analysed through descriptive statistics and statistical inference, as a paired t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation analysis. The findings are mostly in consensus with theoretical knowledge and previous studies. The development of the microstructure as a function of the number of HPT turns was studied at the centre, half-radius and periphery of the HPT-processed disks by X-ray line profile analysis (XLPA), positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) and electron microscopy. The dislocation densities and the dislocation cell sizes determined by XLPA were found to be in good agreement with those obtained by PAS. The evolution of the dislocation density, the dislocation cell and grain sizes, the vacancy cluster size, as well as the high-angle grain boundary (HAGB) fraction was determined as a function of the equivalent strain. Microstructural evolution of equal-channel angular pressed IF steel

Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) belongs to advanced technologies for improving mechanical properties of materials. In the present work the influence of number of pressing by route BC on grain size, density and type of dislocation, evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of IF steel has been investigated by means of optical microscopy, electron back-scattering diffraction (EBSD), diffraction profile analysis, microhardness testing and tensile deformations. It has been found, that the grain size decreasing with increasing number of passes. Simultaneously, the microhardness, density of dislocation and maximum true strength has been increased. The evolution of microstructure with increasing pressing number, particularly the forming of high-angle boundaries has been also examined.

Football and Social Capital: Impacts on the Czech Countryside

Football in the Czech environment has a great cultural tradition and currently occupies the first position in terms of the number of registered players. High participation in football is mainly due to the opportunities that citizens have because today almost every community boasts its own football team. Especially in rural communities these teams have significant impact on the local people. The paper examines this relationship thus effect of football on social capital in the Czech rural communities. Specifically, a case study was conducted in the Čisovice village. Through interviews with local citizens and observation it has been shown that football is an important space for the creation and maintenance of social capital. However, the research also showed that football can sometimes create certain conflicts and inequalities among locals. Analysis of locally modified surfaces for selective growth of cobalt

In this thesis the chemical composition of silicon substrates locally modified by focused gallium ion beam by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is determined. In order to determine the influence of focused ion beam, the sample comprising sputtered square areas with nominal depths in range of 1 to 10 nm was prepared. Next, the sample was heated to elevated temperatures (500 - 700 °C) to reveal changes in the sputtered areas induced by annealing. In this work by X-ray photoelectron spectrometer Kratos Supra and electron microscope Tescan LYRA3 with focused ion beam were used. From the measured spectra of the Si 2p and Ga 2p3/2 peaks measured as a function of nominal sputtering depth and annealing temperature the following main observations were obtained. First, there is the additional peak component in the Si 2p peak, which can be assigned to the amorphous silicon. The second important finding is that gallium can be removed from near surface volume by annealing at temperatures beyond 700 °C.
