Experimental Software Musical Instrument on Android Platform with Ability to Control Parameters by Text Conversion
Rychtecký, Václav ; Indrák, Michal (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The purpose of the thesis is to create a mobile application on the Android platform, characterized by creation of sound using a text captured by a built-in camera of the device in combination with synthesizer, sequencer and sampler. The implementation is partly based on a design prepared within a semestral thesis and is divided into several parts. The first part briefly describes the types of syntheses, the Android operating system, the Pure Data programming language, MIDI and the Android library for controlling Pure Data. The second part deals with the design of the application and the third part describes the implementation and especially the functionality of the application which is created using the programming language Kotlin and IDE Android Studio from JetBrains in combination with the language Pure Data.
Experimental Electro-Mechanical Musical Instrument - Electroacoustic Violin with Frets
Pieczonka, Jan ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
.The main aim of this bachelor thesis is a design and a construct of an experimental electromechanical instrument. The instrument is based on classical violin. The thesis includes a design and a construction of violin pickups, an experimantal excitator, an alterations of the instrument and its assessment. The instrument will use two types of pickups, corrective preamplifire and frets, for experimental tuning.
Experimental hardware musical instrument demonstrating possible means of colour sonification
Rezek, Václav ; Jirásek, Ondřej (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis was to design and build an experimental musical instrument SuperDuperRainbowThing. The experiment nature of which lies in sonification of the colour spectrum. The hardware is built using Arduino microcontroller and a single board computer Raspberry Pi. Software communicates with the hardware via a MIDI protocol and is written in Python programming language and patched in Pure Data graphical environment. The instrument creates a sound output based upon colour selected by the user in real time.
Experimental Software Musical Instrument on Android Platform with Ability to Control Parameters by Moving Phone
Barák, Filip ; Kavan, Jan (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to create an application on the Android platform, which is characterized by an unconventional way of controlling the main melodic signal – by moving the phone. At the same time, the application allows you to edit the audio parameters on your phone's display. Another important feature is the ability to compose and later play chords, or other simple harmonies. The application design is preceded by a theoretical introduction, where I briefly analyze the musical terms and parameters of the application that I developed in the Android studio, Java language. Furthermore, I mention the actual methods of application implementation including code samples.
Experimental Hardware Musical Instrument Combining Electronic and Electromechanical Sound Source
Pešán, Michele ; Indrák, Michal (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
Student is to design and realize experimental electroacoustic hardware musical instrument; it can be find experimental because of its unusual quality of produced sound, extraordinary way of operating the instrument, or its looks.
Experimental Software Musical Instrument, Combining Step Sequencer and Sampler
Dobrocký, Filip ; Jirásek, Ondřej (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design an experimental software musical instrument combining a step sequencer and a sampler. The distinctive qualities of said instrument lie in the ability to produce complicated polyrhythms and make use of microtonality. The theoretical part of the thesis explores concepts such as polyrhythms, musical intonation systems, microtuning of electronic musical instruments, and explains the fundamentals of step sequencing and sampling. The practical part of the thesis features the design and implementation of the instrument, which takes form of a VST plug-in module implemented using the JUCE framework.
Experimental Electro-Mechanical Musical String Instrument
Svěrák, Jan ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and construct a prototype of an experimental electromechanical musical instrument of unusual construction and a plethora of achievable timbres. The design is based on a combination of fundamental attributes of two already existing instruments, namely the hurdy-gurdy and the electric guitar. The first chapter of this thesis analyzes the theoretical background of said problematics. The second chapter describes the construction and function of individual components, including the reasoning behind the chosen principles and materials. The third chapter describes the changes from the original design and the process of building the instrument. The fourth chapter evaluates the instrument in terms of functionality and its properties. The fifth chapter proposes changes in design which could eliminate or mitigate the problems revealed by the prototype.
Experimental Electro-Mechanical Musical Drum Instrument
Šípek, Petr ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to design and create an experimental mechanic-electrical drum instrument, namely a hybrid percussion instrument, using various resonant materials and oscillators supplemented by mechanical tuning in the main part of the instrument. Part of the instrument will consist of a series of piezoelectric transducers scanning individual segments of the musical instrument. It will be possible to edit each individual created sound by using effects.
Experimental software musical instrument
Čapandová, Zuzana ; Říha, Kamil (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
This thesis focuses on realization of experimental electroacoustic software musical instrument, which uses non-contact sound parameters control via Kinect XBOX ONE motion sensor. The software is developed in C# using the NAudio open source library.
Experimental Software Musical Instrument on Android Platform Combining Sampler, Synthesizer, Effects processor and Sequencer
Bezůšek, Marek ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design and realize experimental software musical instrument on Android platform, combining sampler, synthesizer, effects processors and sequencer. The application is designed for smartphones. The application's experimental approach is in granular synthesis applied on recorded sounds with a combination of synthetic sounds produced in wavetable synthesizer and with applied effects.
