Miksl, Jan ; Jeřábek, Jan (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with analysis, validation, measurement of parameters of the commercially available current multiplies (namely the EL2082 and EL4083) and their applications in practice. Control analysis are carried out in OrCAD PSpice program and compared with values from datasheets. Control analysis are focused on AC and DC characteristics of these active blocks. There are discusses the input impedance, the output impedance, the current gain and the possibility of electronic adjusting. The parameters of the elements were verified by measurements. Proposals for circuit applications (selective circuit, oscillator, frequency filter) with EL2082 and EL4083 are presented and analyzed in the program OrCAD. Three oscillator circuit designs are experimentally tested and the results are compared with the theoretical expectations and simulations in OrCAD. The possibility of electronic control for oscillators is examined. Also the sensitivity and the tolerance analysis are carried out. The constructional details of oscillators are presented at the end of this work.
Simulation and realization of laboratory DC power supply
Mach, Ladislav ; Koton, Jaroslav (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
The thesis deals with analyses of the laboratory symmetrical supplies with adjustable output voltage. It also describes different kinds of current cut-out circuits and several most frequent supply connection schemes. Analyses (simulation program OrCAD) show the characteristics and behaviour of the mentioned supplies. To set the output voltage, operational amplifier structures or linear three-terminal voltage regulator are very often used. The suggested supply was tested and its parameters compared with the simulations. The value of output voltage and current can be controlled with a computer with a USB port. For controlling of the output voltage and current the digital potentiometers were used and controlled by I2C bus.

Veselý, Jiří ; Jeřábek, Jan (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
This masters project describes properties and primary parameters of active function blocks (OPA, VCA, OTA, CFA, CC) usable in construction of harmonic oscillators. Basic principles of harmonic generators, especially feedback oscillators, are introduced. In next section are presented five particular schematics of harmonic tuned oscillators. For this oscillators are indicated basic formulas, essential qualities performed by simulations and results of sensitivity and tolerance analysis. In the last part of diploma thesis there are selected three circuits which are made and their features are measured.
Digital controlled power supply
Kocián, Daniel ; Koton, Jaroslav (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
This master’s thesis is about design and realization of a digital controlled power supply. In the introduction there is defined a basic princip and division of the power supplies. Furthermore, there are considered two design realisations of digital controlled power supllies. The first one will be controlled by D/A converter and the second one will be controlled by digital potentiometers. Consequently, there is in the master’s thesis designed controlled part which controls output parameters of supply. The core of the controlled part is microcontroller ATmega16. Output parameters are displayed on LCD display and are set by 4x4 matrix keypad. In the last part there is designed connection between PC and microcontroller by the help of converter FT232BM. Subsequently, there is designed the rectifier with a filter and electronic switching of the fan. At the end of the thesis is resolved the placement of the various component parts to the component box.
Digital controlled resistor
Sedlář, Petr ; Petržela, Jiří (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with the design of the control circuits for digital potentiometers and their application in analog systems. Digital potentiometers are three-terminal resistors with an adjustable center connection. The digital potentiomneters enable to drive logic gates, LED drivers, LCD drivers, analog switches etc. Controlling of these mentioned devices is possible by the I2C 2- wire serial bus (invented by Philips). The digital potentiometers are used to control of the primary parameters like cut-off frequency and quality factor in the state variable filter and cut-off frequency in a passive filter. Both filters are simulated in PSpice and then compared with the measured results. Next parts of this master's thesis are a computer program and a exemplary protocol.
Electronically controlled active 2-nd order filter
Ševčík, Břetislav ; Petržela, Jiří (referee) ; Šotner, Roman (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the modern design of the control circuits for digital potentiometers and their application in analog systems. The concept of the digital control is demonstrated on the electronically controlled active 2-nd order filter and programmable oscillator. The proposed design of the active filter describes a programmable active 2-nd order filter Sallen-Key. In this circuit it is possible independently programme cut-off frequency, Q factor and type of approximation with very good accuracy. The circuits of the designed filter and designed oscillator are simulated in PSpice (OrCAD), parasite effects and effects of the real parts are studied. Properties simulated circuits are compare with experimental results. These results appreciate quality and efficiency of the digitally controlled potentiometers in dependence on variable input circuit parameters. Integral part of this project is author’s universal control program called Digipot and comunications interface for many types of digital potentiometers with I2C, SPI or Up/Down interface. It is possible to use this device for many applications. The constructional details of the filter are presented at the end of this work. The software equipment is availability on enclosed CD.
Laboratory device focused on the switched capacitor circuits
Urban, Lukáš ; Šotner, Roman (referee) ; Petržela, Jiří (advisor)
This Master`s thesis is focused on through acquaintance of principles of the function circuits with switched capaticors and posibility of their application mainly in frequency filters or signal generators. The origin of the switched capacitor circuits is mentioned at the beginning of the work. There are references to the first scientific work and scientists who have dealt with this issue. Maxwell`s idea: lossy element (resistor) replace with lossless element (switched capacitor) in electric circuit, is further described. In the next chapter of this work are listed types of switching capacitors and their use in simple RC filters and in structures of inverted or noninverted integrators and their application in more complex higher order filters. The advantages and disadvantages of SC circuits versus circuit composed of discrete components are shown. It is also listed a simple low-pass switched RC filter implemented with analogue multiplexer 4053. Using the LTC1043 integrated circuit, which structure and properties are described and analyzed in detail in the work, the 1st order aktive or pasive low and high pass filters were designed and subsequently simulated in the computer simulator OrCAD PSpice v.10. Another chapter deals with the integrated circuits higher order filters, structure and properties of the integrated filter LTC1060 are further analyzed here. Except this IC there are mentioned integrated filters commercially less available from the corporations Linear Technology and Maxim. The main objective of thesis was to propose and establish laboratory device and laboratory measurment focused on the switched capacitor circuits. The laboratory device has been designed with integrated circuits LTC1043 and LTC1060, which is demonstrated by using passive and active integrator, 2nd order band-pass and 4th order band-pass with Chebyshevovou approximation.
