Energy supply of the ski resort
Turčina, Lukáš ; Skála, Zdeněk (oponent) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (vedoucí práce)
The environmental targets of the European Union Member States are to achieve carbon neutrality in the next few years by producing green energy. To offset the impact of climate change causalities, it is crucial to increase the share of renewable energy resources as well as to reduce the dependence on fossil fuel imports. The main focus of the thesis is to increase energy sourced from alternative resources in ski resorts. Furthermore, a specific design of a wind power plant located directly in the ski resort together with the storage of the remaining energy is introduced to achieve the thesis’ objective. To select a suitable wind turbine, there is a need to choose a proper construction site that should dispose of stability and good-quality wind conditions. The performed analysis concentrates on the wind speed and frequency on the identified site. As a result, the performance of the selected wind turbine can be calculated. Moreover, given the turbine power and wind frequency, the amount of energy produced can be calculated. The potential electricity production is then compared with the ski resort’s consumption. The findings suggest that with suitable wind conditions and proper planning of energy production and storage, it is possible to cover a significant amount of the resort’s consumption. However, the model is dependent on the speed and stability of the wind, which may be highly volatile over time. Nevertheless, even such small steps can be crucial to achieving the set goals and can indicate the direction in which society will move towards.
