On Harmonic Content of the Wake Behind a Circular Cylinder
Uruba, Václav ; Procházka, Pavel P.
The wake behind cylinder of circular cross-section is subjected to detailed analysis from the point of view harmonic content. The basic, fundamental frequency could be linked to well-known Bénard-von Kámán vortex street, it is called Strouhal frequency very often. However higher harmonics of 2nd and 3rd order have been detected, as well as important inharmonic partials. The topologies of the velocity flow-field corresponding to the harmonic is to be shown.
Dynamics of Coherent Structures Behind Vibrating Airfoil
Uruba, Václav
Flow around steady and vibrating airfoil with a positive angle of attack has been\nstudied experimentally, using a Time-Resolved PIV (“TR-PIV”) technique. For analysis of\ncomplex spatial dynamics of the flow the Oscillation Pattern Decomposition (OPD) method\nhas been used. The resulting flow dynamics is characterized by OPD modes of oscillating and\nnon-oscillating character, describing travelling and pulsating patterns in the flow. Topology\nand frequency of dynamic modes are shown in the presented paper.
Application of the opd method in a flow-field dynamics analysis
Uruba, Václav
The Oscillation Pattern Decomposition method (OPD) is applicable on the dynamical velocity vector fields of turbulent flow coming from either mathematical simulation (DNS) or from experiment using an appropriate technique (time-resolved PIV in most cases). The OPD method is based on idea of identification of patterns rated according to their stability of appearance.
