Oxidation behavior adjustment for TiAl intermetallics by controled atmosphere surface remelting
Prehradná, Jana ; Čížek, Jan (oponent) ; Jan, Vít (vedoucí práce)
This master’s thesis deals with research of technological processing method called surface melting. The first part deals with the melting process and the basic parameters influencing the process of melting. In the second part, there is mentioned the comparison of two basic types of lasers namely Nd: YAG and CO2, which was used for experiment in our case. The third part deals with the properties of TiAl intermetallic alloys, preferably -phase -TiAl and Ti3Al. Finally it is made reference to the oxidation of TiAl alloys. The experimental part is devoted to melting the surface alloy Ti-46Al-0,7Cr-0,1Si-7Nb-0,2Ni in a controlled nitrogen atmosphere. It was necessary to do several measurements to find out the relevant parameters for the desired results. After the parameters were obtained, measurements of microhardness were performed. The last step of our experiment was to measure the increase of weight of samples due to oxidation process.
