The main focus of the thesis are map libraries in a web environment and their potential to be used in an implementation of a graphical user interface for Weather Information Service (WIS), a native application made by Honeywell. Overview of WIS is introduced in order to define features, which are needed to be implemented using web technologies. Basics of map libraries are explained and two selected libraries (Leaflet and Altus Map engine) are presented in detail. A chapter is dedicated to rendering methods used in web applications. The thesis then continues with design and implementation of demonstration application, created in order to show capabilities of selected map libraries to implement WIS features. Finally, the differences and usability of selected libraries are discussed.
