Steel chimney construction design assisted by BIM methodology
Vrzalová, Valéria ; Vild, Martin (oponent) ; Bukovská, Pavla (vedoucí práce)
The subject of the thesis is the development of a static design and assessment of a steel chimney. The chimney, which is a standalone structure, features a full-walled design anchored to a rigid concrete foundation (not included in the design scope). Additionally, the work includes the design of service platforms. The chimney body takes on a cylindrical shape, maintaining a constant internal diameter of 5,44 m throughout its height. The chimney shell is constructed from S235JR – grade steel, while the service platforms are made from S235JR material. The thesis introduces a model of the cylindrical shell with incorporated dynamic characteristics. Beyond the typical wind load, considerations extend to temperature – induced stress and additional loads impacting the chimney structure such as working negative pressure, exceptional overpressure. To assess the shell for buckling, a simplified rod model of the chimney is established. The work encompasses evaluations of selected connections, as well as the design and assessment of chimney anchoring.
