Computational modeling of cavitation characteristic curve of radial centrifugal pump
Leischner, Jakub ; Chabannes, Lilian (oponent) ; Štefan, David (vedoucí práce)
This thesis deals with one of the most common problem occurring during the operation of centrifugal pumps in non-optimal conditions - cavitation. Its principle and effects are summarized together with description of main pump components and computational methods used for simulations. To evaluate the effect of cavitation on the pump performance, CFD simulation model is presented and compared with data from experimental measurement. Main pump characteristics as delivery head and efficiency are correlated in 4 different points to include range from design point to unsuitable operating mode under 3 % head drop criterion. In addition, value of water vapour and frequencies of forces acting on impeller are assessed on basis of CFD results.
