Advanced Data Analysis for Industrial Applications
Wagner, Zdeněk ; Kovanic, Pavel
One of the principal tasks of nowaday's industry is process intensification. The methodology for finding reliable results is highly demanded. While marketing is concentrated on analysis big data that are available in eShops as well as other internet media, the situation in the industry is different because solution must be found in real time based on limited amount of data. The algorithms of data analysis must therefore be fast and robust. In the last few decades statistical methods have advanced considerably but a new, nonstatistical approach to uncertainty, called mathematical gnostics, have also be developed. This new approach is based upon the fundamental laws of nature and robustness is its inherent property. The contribution will present several applications with the emphasis laid upon description of the main features of mathematical gnostics. Previous applications in energetics that can be enhanced by use of the modern algorithms of data analysis will also be mentioned.

Comparison of Particle Number Size Distributions in Three Central European Capital Cities
Zíková, Naděžda ; Borsós, T. ; Řimnáčová, Daniela ; Smolík, Jiří ; Wagner, Zdeněk ; Weidinger, T. ; Burkart, J. ; Steiner, G. ; Reischl, G. ; Hitzenberger, R. ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Salma, I. ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Health aspects of ultrafine aerosol particles in urban environment have been studied extensively in recent years (Salma et al., 2011; Putaud et al., 2010; Qian et al., 2007 etc.). Three main sources of the ultrafine particles have been defined – traffic, biomass burning, and atmospheric nucleation. However, the diurnal changes in intensities of individual sources are of considerable extent, similarly to the scale of variations in particle number concentrations due to meteorological phenomena.

Number Concentration and Modal Structure of Indoor/Outdoor Fine Particles in Four European Cities
Lazaridis, M. ; Eleftheriadis, K. ; Ždímal, Vladimír ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Wagner, Zdeněk ; Ondráček, Jakub ; Drossinos, Y. ; Glytsos, T. ; Vratolis, S. ; Torseth, K. ; Smolík, Jiří
Indoor/outdoor measurements campaigns were performed in naturally ventilated houses and offices in four European cities to investigate the relationship between indoor and outdoor particle number concentrations and aerosol modal structures. The measurements sites were located in Oslo (Norway), Prague (Czech Republic), Milan (Italy) and Athens (Greece). A number of ordinary indoor activities (cooking, smoking, candle burning, etc.) were performed during the measurements to quantify the contribution of particles emitted from indoor sources and the contribution of outdoor particles to the change of the indoor aerosol size spectra.

Robust Approach for Environmental and Health Practice: Novel Paradigm for Data Treatment and Analysis
Wagner, Zdeněk ; Ocelka, T. ; Pavliska, L.
Knowledge of concentration of atmospheric aerosol particles may provide an important information in applications concerning human health. Aerosol studies reach into several fields of science. In the past decades it was shown that enhanced concentration of atmospheric aerosol lead to increased mortality on cardiopulmonary diseases and lung cancer. This work presents a robust method of estimation of particle size distribution based on mathematical gnostics. The algorithm may either be used as a manual tool for analyzing a small number of particle size distributions ex post or as a routine implemented in automatic monitoring devices for near real time processing of measured data and immediate online display on a web site. The method has sucessfully been implemented for near real time analysis of data measured by a scanning mobility particle sizer conformant to recommendations defined in the framework of the EUSAAR project.

Mutual Solubilities of Ammonium-Based Ionic Liquids with Water and with Water/Methanol Mixture
Machanová, Karolina ; Jacquemin, J. ; Wagner, Zdeněk ; Bendová, Magdalena
This work presents a study on solubility in water and in water/methanol mixture of a set of ILs composed of the bi (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion and of the N-alkyl-triethyl-ammonium cation (abbrev. [NR222][NTf2]) with the alkyl chain R ranging from 6 to 14 carbons. These ILs were successfully tested for enantioselective hydrogenation of β-ketoesters catalyzed by the chiral complex Ru-BINAP in presence of methanol [1]. From which, it appears that these ILs immobilise the catalyst in the mixture for easier recycling and further re-use and protect it from air/oxygen. The final separation of the product is carried out by rinsing the solution with water, which may also wash out the ILs with catalyst. For this reason, mutual solubilities between ILs and water, as well as between ILs and methanol/water mixture need to be investigated in detail.
