Substances for the complex modus lubrication in artificial joints
Štol, Miroslav ; Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef
We have been studying some possibilities to fulfil the lubricationn demands in artificial joints. The interactions of gamma-globulin (GG) or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) with sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose (NACMC) were followed by te rheological
Modulus of elasticity of vessel determined by pulse wave velocity measurement- criterion for non-invasive assessment of pathology
Leitermann, D. ; Pražák, Josef ; Poušek, L. ; Musil, Jan ; Konvičková, S.
The knowledge of material properties of vessel are the useful contribution for the description of development and progress of artery diseases. The expression of looked for conclusions is always conditioned by the obtaining of diagnostic data, which are the only information for the assessment of teh artery pathology. The motivation of this study has been to develop non-invasive method for the diagnostics of teh pathological vessels.
Pulsatory flow under rotary pump used to failing heart support
Musil, Jan ; Převorovská, Světlana ; Leitermann, D. ; Pražák, Josef ; Maršík, František
The hydrodynamic resistance values increase in the mock-line circuit verified in some cases the concommitant phenomenon due to the continuous supporting device, i. e. complete destruction of the pulsatory wave form into the chaotic turbulent flow thro the supported system.
Realistic model of the resistance of systemic blodd circuit
Leitermann, D. ; Pražák, Josef ; Musil, Jan
The next model of systemic resistance was suggested in accordance with the two preconditions. The first one was the ratio of aorta´s and capillaries´ cross-sectional area, i.e. the capillary´s one being larger than the aorta´s one, which fact would be ough for our study.
Circuit resistance modeling in failing heart rotary pump support
Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef ; Leitermann, D.
The stepwise resistance increase caused by the throttle valve usage in the mock-line circuit comprising the pulsating ventricle in failing heart modus and supported by rotary pump set up in parallel was studied. It appears thus important to regulate support system producing a continuous type of flow to such a regime not allowing the pulsating flow of the failing heart to disappear and preventing the mean systemic pressure value before substantial increase.
Comparison of heat transfer efficiency of various impinging jets
Pražák, Josef ; Herwig, H. ; Mocikat, H. ; Goeppert, S.
The experiments with the impinging air jets are referred to. An attention is paid to the methodology of the treating of the experimental results for the case, where different nozzles and geometries of the experiment should be compared. A comparison with the case of the free convection was chosen as a tool for the discussion of experimental results.
Supermolecular arrangement in the development of pseudosynovial fluids
Štol, Miroslav ; Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef
Attention has been paid to sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose as a hyaluronic acid substitude. The latter substance has been modified by addition of some metalic ions. Measurements of dynamic viscosity of the NaCMC solutions revealed that bivalent metallic ions do not adequately crosslink polymer chains in an intermolecular fashion. On the other hand, some multivalent metallic ions (Mn or Ce) were active in crosslinking the polymer chains, thus forming their supermolecular arrangement.
Systemic compliance effect un failing heart support (mechanical model study)
Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef ; Leitermann, David
The systemic compliance changes during singel rotary pump support on a symplified circuit were studied. Thus rotation speed of the supporting rotary pump, frequency rate of the failing ventricle under the changing conditions of compliance of the systemic branch (aortic root) were invesigated. The systemic compliance effect enhances the common flow of the rotary pump and the pulsating supported ventricle.
Model of insufficient heart supported by rotary pump (Mechanical study)
Pražák, Josef ; Musil, Jan ; Leitermann, D.
The insufficient heart may be supported by rotary pump connected to the left heart in parallel. Behaviour of a heart can be characterized by Frank-Starling's curve, i.e. the cardiac output is function of only the heart rate. Values of cardiac output of insufficient heart are lower than the ones of healthy heart. The task of rotary pump is to transform the cardiac output to higher values. This transformation has to respect minimum value of ejection fraction.
Artificial joint lubrication
Pražák, Josef ; Štol, Miroslav ; Musil, Jan
Basic aspects concerning development of lubricating substances for artificial joints and tribometric testing of the system artificial joint-lubricant are briefly reviewed.
