Circuit resistance modeling in failing heart rotary pump support
Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef ; Leitermann, D.
The stepwise resistance increase caused by the throttle valve usage in the mock-line circuit comprising the pulsating ventricle in failing heart modus and supported by rotary pump set up in parallel was studied. It appears thus important to regulate support system producing a continuous type of flow to such a regime not allowing the pulsating flow of the failing heart to disappear and preventing the mean systemic pressure value before substantial increase.

Supermolecular arrangement in the development of pseudosynovial fluids
Štol, Miroslav ; Musil, Jan ; Pražák, Josef
Attention has been paid to sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose as a hyaluronic acid substitude. The latter substance has been modified by addition of some metalic ions. Measurements of dynamic viscosity of the NaCMC solutions revealed that bivalent metallic ions do not adequately crosslink polymer chains in an intermolecular fashion. On the other hand, some multivalent metallic ions (Mn or Ce) were active in crosslinking the polymer chains, thus forming their supermolecular arrangement.

Model of insufficient heart supported by rotary pump (Mechanical study)
Pražák, Josef ; Musil, Jan ; Leitermann, D.
The insufficient heart may be supported by rotary pump connected to the left heart in parallel. Behaviour of a heart can be characterized by Frank-Starling's curve, i.e. the cardiac output is function of only the heart rate. Values of cardiac output of insufficient heart are lower than the ones of healthy heart. The task of rotary pump is to transform the cardiac output to higher values. This transformation has to respect minimum value of ejection fraction.
