Direct coupling of supported liquid membrane extractions to capillary electrophoresis. Sensitivity enhancement in analyses of untreated complex samples
Pantůčková, Pavla ; Kubáň, Pavel ; Boček, Petr
Extractions across supported liquid membrane (SLM) were in-line coupled to capillary electrophoresis (CE) commercial system for direct injection of basic drugs from raw complex samples. A micro-extraction unit was inserted into the CE system sampling device and ensured excellent sample clean-up and injections directly from the membrane surface. Transient isotachophoresis (t-ITP) combined with large electrokinetic injections of selectively extracted basic analytes increased the sensitivity of the analytical method up to 300-fold when compared with conventional hydrodynamic injections and capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) of the basic analytes.
Theoretical principles of capillary isotachophoresis in moving boundary systems
Gebauer, Petr ; Malá, Zdeňka ; Boček, Petr
This contribution provides fundamental theoretical background of ITP in moving-boundary systems. It is based on the approximation of capillary ITP as a 1D process and the general condition of ITP migration, i.e., the existence of a self-sharpening boundary capable to form a stack of zones moving with equal velocities.
Determination of chlorophenols in environmental samples using electromembrane extraction and capillary electrophoresis
Šlampová, Andrea ; Kubáň, Pavel ; Boček, Petr
Combination of electromembrane extraction (EME) with capillary electrophoresis (CE) was used for determination of trace level chlorophenols (CPs) in environmental water samples. The analytes were transported across supported liquid membrane (SLM), composed of 1-ethyl-2-nitrobenzene (ENB), by the application of electrical field. A driving force of 150 V was applied to extract the analytes from neutral sample (donor solution) into strongly alkaline acceptor solutions. The acceptor solutions were subsequently analyzed by CE with UV-Vis detector.
Electrophoretic mobility measurements of a multivalent red dye SPADNS
Pantůčková, Pavla ; Kubáň, Pavel ; Boček, Petr
Measurements of the electrophoretic mobility of an anionic dye 4,5-dihydroxy-3-(p-sulfophenylazo)-2,7- naphthalene disulfonic acid trisodium salt (SPADNS), which is a commonly used anionic dye, are described in this contribution. Electrophoretic mobilities of SPADNS were measured in various buffer solutions covering the pH range of 2.4–9.1. Effective electrophoretic mobilities of SPADNS measured in these buffers varied between 50.5 x 10–9 m2/Vs and 60.5 x 10–9 m2/Vs with an average effective mobility of 55.0 x 10–9 m2/Vs.
Capillary isotachophoresis of anions with electrospray-ionization mass-spectrometric detection
Malá, Zdeňka ; Gebauer, Petr ; Boček, Petr
We present ITP-ESI-MS as a powerful tool for selective and sensitive analyses of anionic analytes. Our extended concept of ITP includes besides regular and freeacid ITP also self-maintained ITP in moving boundary systems. Easy theory describes the system properties including their stacking-window diagrams. Simple ESIcompatible electrolyte systems allow flexible tuning with very satisfactory results as demonstrated on the example of analysis of pharmaceuticals in waters.
A simple sample pretreatment device with supported liquid membrane for direct injection of untreated body fluids and in-line coupling to a commercial capillary electrophoresis instrument
Pantůčková, Pavla ; Kubáň, Pavel ; Boček, Petr
A simple sample pretreatment device employing extractions across supported liquid membranes (SLMs) was designed for in-line coupling to a commercial CE instrument. The device can be easily assembled/disassembled and SLMs can be replaced after each extraction thus minimizing sample carry-over, avoiding tedious SLM regeneration and reducing total pretreatment time and costs.
Highly sensitive determination of cationic pesticides in orange juice by capillary isotachophoresis-electrospray ionization - mass spectrometry with advanced electrolyte tuning
Malá, Zdeňka ; Pantůčková, Pavla ; Gebauer, Petr ; Boček, Petr
In this contribution we present an innovative way to easy, fast and highly sensitive analyses by capillary electrophoresis with electrospray ionization mass spectrometric (ESI-MS) detection. The new method is designed to be applied to ESI-compatible electrolytes (e.g. ammonium acetate) and offers advanced tuning of selectivity conditions within a wide range of analyte mobilities.
