Cultural functions and services of geodiversity within urban areas (with a special regard on tourism and recreation)

Geodiversity (or abiotic nature) within urban areas has numerous functions and offers various benefits and services. In addition, it has strong links to cultural heritage and historical aspects and it influences and is influenced by urban development and planning. The geodiversity functions and services can be sorted according to the ecosystem services approach: regulating, supporting, provisioning and cultural services. The last mentioned includes a wide spectrum of aspects (spiritual, religious, historical, archaeological, social, artistic, sense of place etc.) and besides this, it encompasses also the tourist and recreational functions which are (in some cases) unexplored and underestimated in urban areas. The paper presents examples from two different Czech cities – Brno and Liberec. Selected geocultural sites are described and assessed and specific proposals for tourist, recreational and educational use are outlined. The results of evaluation show that they can represent an interesting alternative to the traditional tourist destinations within urban areas.

Geotourism within urban areas: New ways of promotion of natural and cultural heritage (Case study from Brno City).

Geotourism is based especially on geodiversity, but it also uses the cultural-historical aspects of an area, it is linked to the education and counts with active engagement of local people. Currently, geotourism is developed mainly within rural areas, but there are activities that point on the geodiversity and its importance within urban areas. Rational and sustainable use of geodiversity within urban areas can represent an alternative to the traditional tourist destinations and contributes to the understanding of the importance and necessity of protection of geodiversity itself. Geodiversity, respectively geoheritage within urban areas does not include only issues of primary (natural) geodiversity (substrate, Iandforms, soils), but also anthropogenic landforms and processes (secondary geodiversity), hydrological features (wells, millraces) and geodiversity ex-situ (museum collections, building material). The paper presents this new form of tourism and gives examples of selected geodiversity/geoheritage features within the Brno city.

Výstavní katalog představuje jednu z důležitých možností jak podrobně informovat veřejnost o historické krajině Českomoravské vrchoviny, dochování jejích památek, stavu jejich poznání a možnostech jejich dokumentace. Dobrá informovanost zvyšuje šanci na uchování jedinečných dokladů o naší vlastní minulosti v krajině. Krajina je důležitým svědkem historických změn v krajině. Pro pravěk je z hlediska stavu dochování archeologických památek krajina dokonce svědkem jediným. Českomoravská vrchovina je v tomto směru jednou z výjimečných oblastí. Stejně jako v minulosti tak i dnes jde o okrajové území, které není výrazně poznamenáno neustále probíhající destrukcí historické kulturní krajiny. V katalogu jsou představeny v kapitolách okruhy výzkumu. Na konci je uveřejněn katalog předmětů dokumentující hmotnou kulturu pro všechny zkoumané periody.

Local geoheritage: its importance and potential for geotourist and recreational activities (a case study from Lomnicko area)

Geodiversity, respectively its valuable part – geoheritage is considered an important resource for the geotourism and recreation purposes. In the C.R., there are a lot of examples of such use of geoheritage: sandstone rock cities, karst areas or polygenetic relief at mountain areas and others. These geoheritage features are usually significant on the national level, their existence assure the attractiveness of the given area, enables the geotourist and recreational activities and support the local and regional development. However, in the local scale, the geodiversity (respectively geoheritage, represented by particular geosites and geomorphosites) can also serve the above mentioned purposes. The paper presents the example from Lomnicko area which can be seen as an “average” area from the geodiversity/geoheritage point of view on the national level, but on the local and regional level, there is a considerable number of geosites and geomorphosites with a potential for geotourism and recreation.

Metodika odběrů a zpracování vzorků pro geoarcheologický výzkum "Výzkum sedimentárního záznamu"

Geoarcheologie je dnes dynamicky rozvíjející se obor, který se v poslední době významně uplatňuje jako součást archeologických výzkumů především v západní Evropě a Americe. V České republice byla geoarcheologie dlouho chápána zejména ve smyslu určování původu artefaktů, vytipování těžebních okrsků, určení stavebních materiálů, strusek, apod. (Přichystal 2009). V poslední době i u nás došlo k posunu v chápání tohoto meziborového studia, a to směrem k aplikování geovědních disciplín a jejich metod v rámci interpretace formačních procesů archeologických situací a záznamů. Vidění archeologických situací v kontextu geologie, geomorfologie a pedologie může přinést nový pohled v celkové archeologické interpretaci nebo ve směru jakým se bude další archeologický výzkum ubírat. Na rozdíl od principu popisnější archeologie, poskytuje geoarcheologie informace o životním prostředí, využívání a vývoji konkrétních archeologických lokalit a jejich okolí. Může také objasnit způsoby a důvody jejich opuštění. Východiskem georcheologických technik jsou uznávané exaktní metodické nástroje využíváné zejména v geologických vědách. Konkrétní aplikace geoarcheologických metod výzkumu vždy závisí na konkrétní archeologické situaci a tyto mohou být být plně využity pouze při plné součinnosti mezi archeologem a geologem, pedologem (geoarcheologem). Předkládaná metodika si klade za cíl představit a popsat vybrané metody odběru a zpracování vzorků pro konkrétní výzkumné geoarcheologické analýzy. Určena je především terénním archeologickým pracovníkům, studentům přírodovědných archeologických oborů se zájmem o vývoj antropogeně ovlivěné krajiny a všem zájemcům, kteří si chtějí prohloubit znalosti v dané problematice. Metodika je uplatnitelná všemi pracovníky organizací a firem zabývajících se terénní archeologií.

Geodiversity values as a basis for geosite and geomorphosite assessment: a case study from Žďárské vrchy Highland

Paper presents geodiversity values, geodiversity is understood as a set of geological, geomorphological and pedological components, including systems consisting of this components and geological, geomorphological and pedological processes. Geodiversity values are analyzed in relation to ecosystem values (e.g. cultural, functional value). Geodiversity values were used as basis for a methodical approach to geosite and geomorphosite assessment. Methodological approach is presented at selected sites in the top part of the Žďárské vrchy Highland. The acquired results can serve as a basis for geoconservation of PLA Žďárské vrchy, development of geotourism as well as an offer for extension geoeducational activities.\n

Secondary geodiversity and its potential for geoeducation and geotourism: a case study from Brno city

Geodiversity is considered to be the most important resource for geoeducational and geotourist activities. Usually the geoeducation and geotourism are developed within natural areas and they are based on the primary geodiversity (natural landforms). Nevertheless, so called secondary geodiversity or man-made/anthropogenic geodiversity (represented by the anthropogenic geosites as old quarries, pits or underground landforms) can be also viewed as a remarkable resource for these activities. Brno city is rich in these landforms; some of them already serve as excursion localities for the university students or they are used for recreation and leisure, some of them are unique (from the geoscience point of view) and they have also certain added values (historical, archaeological or ecological), however, their potential is not fully developed. The article presents examples of these geosites and outlines possibilities of the rational use for the geoeducation and geotourism purposes.

Jízdní asistent pro osobní automobily

Jízdní asistent je zařízení určené pro sportovní vozidla, která nejsou vybavena dostatečným počtem ukazatelů stavu jednotlivých částí pohonného ústrojí. Jedná se především o tlaky, teploty, napětí a další veličiny. Stavové hodnoty jsou na displeji zobrazeny prostřednictvím dvou ručičkových ukazatelů. Ovládání zařízení probíhá přes dotykovou fólii. Zařízení je dále vybaveno čtyřmi ultrazvukovými čidly, která jsou použita pro parkovací asistent a varování před vozidlem v mrtvém úhlu.
