Transcriptional analysis of selected stress proteins in larvae of the fruit fly, \kur{Drosophila melanogaster} (Diptera: Drosophilidae
KORBELOVÁ, Jaroslava
We assessed influence of three acclimation regimes and influence of recovery after cold shock (exposure to 0°C for a period of time corresponding to Lt25) on the relative mRNA levels of selected stress proteins using qRT-PCR method. Larvae acclimated at 25°C showed relatively weak upregulation responses to cold shock. Much stronger responses were observed in the larvae that were cold-acclimated at 15°C or 15°C ? 6°C prior to cold shock. Two different general trends were distinguished in the response to cold acclimation and cold shock: (a) proteins from families SP70 and SP90 and splice variants c and d of the transcription factor HSF were upregulated in response to cold acclimation and the levels of their mRNA transcripts further increased after cold shock (for instance, the abundance of hsp70Aa mRNA increased up to 300-fold after cold shock (acclimation variant 15°C ? 6°C)); (b) four members of the small Hsp family (22, 23, 26 and 27 kDa) and splice variants a and b of the transcription factor HSF were down-regulated during cold acclimation (for instance, 10-fold in the case of hsp22) and the levels of their mRNA transcripts were either unchanged or increased only moderately after the cold shock. A third group of proteins, namely Hsc70, Hsp40 showed no or relatively small changes.

Preventing burnout syndrome in officials dealing with social care agenda
RAUNEROVÁ, Dagmar
Since 1st January 2007 extensive changes in the system of social welfare benefits have happened. It was particularly the Act No. 111/2006 Coll., on aid in material distress and S. Law No. 108/2006 on social services. This thesis deals with the burnout syndrome prevention just focused on the period from when those laws became effective. Simultaneously with the laws effectiveness the duty was imposed on social care officers to process the applications for social welfare benefits by using a software program and the need to ``insert{\crq}q human fates into a computer program, which brought about a considerable psychological stress. It is necessary to keep duplicate documentation, both in paper and electronic form, which also puts increased work demands on officers. The research was conducted with social care officers at municipal offices in the Domažlice region who work in Departments of Social Affairs and deal with the application processing under the above Acts. The main stated hypothesis suggested that there are no burnout syndrome preventive measures for social care officers in the Domažlice region. Other working hypotheses were set up: social care officers are not interested in prevention programs and employers do not create conditions for the burnout syndrome prevention. The outcomes may serve to social care officers themselves for a better orientation in the burnout syndrome prevention issue and especially to managers and executive officers to improve the care of employees.

Influence of oriental dance on social relations
RYKALOVÁ, Jiřina
People meet people all the time, and in thus meeting they influence each other. Major importance can be attributed to informal relationships like friendship and love, since these are typical of spontaneity, free communication, flexibility of roles and similar features. Each individual is greatly affected by the family that he or she was born into as well as the family he or she established. Marriage is an institutional basis of a family, while the family is the hub of social relations. Economic, social, mental and health conditions of individuals and families stem from their work activities. Unemployment affects the family; living standards; the structure and perception of time; and the health of body and mind. All social relationships have communication built in them. Communication can not only describe the relationship as it exists, it can also change and modify it. That is why it is important to stick to sound principles of communication, whose integral part is the ability to listen. Factors impacting on interpersonal relations cover also stress. In case the burden inflicted by stress is tolerable, it may even be invigorating. If the burden, however, is greater than what we can endure, the effect is detrimental. Consequently, stress should be precluded. One method of precluding and alleviating stress rests in what is termed the dance movement therapy. An option available to exercise body, mind and soul is the oriental dance. In pursuing physical activities we exercise not only our moving faculties but also cultivate interpersonal relationships. Such a system of activities and relations can be designated as an active way of life.
Teacher's communication skills
ZIKLOVÁ, Hana
This diploma thesis concerns the area of self-presentation of a teacher and effective use of his communication skills. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and presents basic concepts of social communication and defines communication skills essential for effective teaching. The practical part is partly based on the output of a questionnaire survey where the author probes knowledge of communication skills of students of pedagogical faculty and how they evaluate their readiness for the profession of a teacher. Then the author provides a summary of the main rules of communication, necessary skills and practical recommendations. Summary of the main rules of communication, necessary skills and practical advice is also a guide that should help prevent problems with self-presentation and to mitigate or eliminate deficiencies in this area.
The effect of the type of profession on the perception of stress
NIEMCOVÁ, Markéta
The thesis reviews scientific findings relevant to the issues of stress and burn-out syndrome in its theoretical part. It focuses both on the general description of the two related phenomena and their detection and prevention options, as well as on the relationship between them and the individual{\crq}s specific professional specialization. The research part of the thesis concentrates on mapping out of severity and frequency of stress situations, on feelings associated with the burn-out syndrome, and on the possibilities of social support systems among the respondents working in different types of professions and represented by three samples: teachers {--}future educational counselors-, managers in supranational consulting companies, and therapists providing care for individuals with mental retardation and psychiatric disorders. The present work further looks at differential subjective perception of stress events among these professions. Questionnaires BMS (Ayala Malach-Pines, 2005, The Burn-out Measure Short Version) and JSS-CZ (Spielberger, Knotková, Man, 1999, Inventář pracovního stresu) were used for the data collection, as well as additional personal questions. In addition, the results{\crq} implications and their limitations for possible generalizations are discussed.
