Awareness of Preventive Programmes Aimed at the CAN Syndrome
MÜLLEROVÁ, Pavla
The thesis ``Awareness of Preventive Programmes Aimed at the CAN Syndrome{\crqq} is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the CAN syndrome, i.e. a syndrome of a child exposed to violence, abuse or neglect. It describes its different forms and symptoms, presents characteristic of the most frequent victims and offenders and the situation in the Czech Republic in terms of legislation and CAN syndrome occurrence. A substantial part is dedicated to prevention of violence, abuse and neglect of children at all levels {--} i.e. primary, secondary, tertiary and quartery prevention. The thesis illustrates preventive measures on the STOP Violence on Children campaign and on methodological measure defining a procedure for doctors having suspicion of CAN syndrome. The thesis is aimed at finding out the extent of awareness of these prevention programmes among the general public as well as professionals. To reach the aim a research was performed in the practical part. A questionnaire investigation among secondary students, paediatricians, child social-law protection workers and police officers was chosen for the research method. Two hypotheses based on the given aim were formed. The first one says that students of the last year of secondary schools in Tábor do not know the STOP Violence on Children campaign. The hypothesis was not confirmed. The second hypothesis says that paediatricians, child social-law protection workers and police officers of the South Bohemia Region are not familiar with the methodological measure defining a procedure for doctors having suspicion of CAN syndrome. This hypothesis was not confirmed either. The Bachelor Thesis may be utilized as a source of consistent information on the CAN syndrome. Its main contribution is in summarizing the awareness of the issues of mistreating, abusing and neglecting children and of preventive programmes aimed at the CAN syndrome among the general public as well as professionals.
Domestic violence from the view of an adolescent
BURIANOVÁ, Jana
Domestic violence from the view of an adolescent I consider the domestic violence to be one of the cruellest abuses of a man to another man, above all for the reason it happens between close people. It is scary, that in the place, where one should feel the most safely, it comes to a violence and harm. The domestic violence occurs everywhere, regardless the social status, education, age, sex etc. This thesis is focused on adolescents, because I am interested in the fact what information and views they have and how much they are interested in the problem of the domestic violence. Then I focused a part of the thesis on an opinion of adolescents on the corporal punishment during the upbringing. The punishments in the upbringing are increasingly becoming a more discussed and hot topic and there are many different opinions on them. The theoretical part was aimed for relevant information related to the domestic violence and the upbringing. A main goal of the thesis was to map an awareness of adolescents on the issue of the domestic violence; a partial goal was to find out their views on the corporal punishments in the upbringing. At the same time the thesis examined two advanced hypotheses. An interrogation method by the help of questionnaires was chosen to verify the hypotheses. They were addressed to adolescents aged from 17 to 20 years old studying the region of the Bohemian Highland. The research sample for the data collecting consisted of 168 respondents in total. The hypothesis No. 1 supposed that girls have a greater knowledge about the issue of the domestic violence than boys. This hypothesis was confirmed. The hypothesis No. 2 supposed that adolescents do not agree with physical punishments in the upbringing. The hypothesis No. 2 was not confirmed. Respondents largely agree with the corporal punishments, if they are reasonable (a slap) or earned. The bachelor thesis offers current data on the domestic violence, awareness and opinions of the adolescents. It points out where it is necessary to increase the awareness of the adolescents on the domestic violence issues. The thesis can be used by a professional and lay public, which is interested in the domestic violence and it can be a basis for further studies or researches in that area.

In the first hypothesis I supposed that the clients who used the support to families in a difficult life situation in the Crisis centre for children and family in the South Bohemian Region managed to keep their role of parentage also after the divorce and finished conflicts and child manipulation. In the second hypothesis I supposed that clients managed to keep their role of parentage also after the divorce and finished conflicts and child manipulation regardless of being married, divorced or single and whether they care together for own or adopted child. To confirm or disconfirm the defined hypotheses I used the method of a questionnaire. The questionnaires were intended for employees of the Crisis centre for children and family, the clients of the Crisis centre for children and family in the South Bohemian Region and to public. I prepared a different type of questionnaire for each group. In total I handed out 115 questionnaires. All of them were returned to me. The return was 100%. The hypotheses are analysed at the end of the practical part. They were confirmed. In the conclusion of the thesis the knowledge based on the theoretical and practical parts are included. The last part includes annexes referring to the actual matters (e.g. an International co-operation within a child care, casuistry, the leaflet of the Crisis centre for children and family in the South Bohemian Region).
