Nursing and medicin - partners proffesion

Abstract The relation between nursing and medicine has been undergoing a number of changes in recent years. Optimization of synergy and competences between healthcare professions is one of the priorities of the healthcare system development. This research addresses the issue whether nursing and medical professions are partner professions in healthcare of clients. The objective of the thesis was to ascertain whether nursing and medical professions can be declared as partner professions in healthcare. This objective was fulfilled through a quantitative research using the method of a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire contained 17 questions for doctors and 18 questions for nurses. The respondents of this questionnaire survey were 132 nurses and 97 doctors. The data were processed by means of descriptive statistics using charts. It follows from the data analysis that nursing and medicine cannot be regarded as partner professions yet. According to nurses and doctors, the partner relation between these two professions is of crucial importance for client care. Higher education and professionalism of nurses contributes to improvement of mutual relations. The research has revealed that it is necessary to continue addressing this issue. Within the research we explored several areas that, as we believe, are closely connected with this issue, and we based the research on its theoretical part. This thesis is beneficial by exploring the opinions of nurses and doctors on the relations between nursing and medicine, and by ascertaining their opinions on the effect of the partnership between these two professions on quality improvement of client care. We also investigated whether nurses and doctors believe that higher education and professionalism of nurses contributed to improvement of the relation between nursing and medicine. It is apparent from the research that nurses and doctors realize that partnership between nursing and medicine is of fundamental significance for care of clients. If they endeavour to trust each other, communicate effectively and show mutual respect, nursing and medicine will become partner professions. The research may initiate drawing attention to problems in relations between nursing and medicine, and may provide guidance to finding the solution. It may also stimulate nurses, doctors, students of nursing and medical branches, and managements of healthcare facilities to think about the issue.
Need for self-actualization in patients during hospitalization

Human personality is a dynamic and organized set of characteristics which are in a special relation. Personatity is thought to be determined largely by either genetics and heredity, or by environment and experience, or both. The personal needs are dependent on sex, age, education and differ in different generations. The personality is developed through interaction of life situation, life conditions and the place. Self-fulfillment means to fulfill one´s potencial. It refers to ability to realize one´s own needs and plans. According to Maslow the need of self-actualization belongs to growth needs. Self-realization evokes feelings of happiness and joy. It surpasses everyday routine, it is a spiritual need. The first objective of my thesis was to examine the need of self-realization in hospitalized patients. The second objective was to compare the needs of patients hospitalized in intensive care units to those of patients admitted to planned medical interventions and to those of patients in long-term care facilities. The third objective was to find out nurses´ attitude to hospitalized patients with needs of self-realization. To find relevant data patients hospitalized in intensive care units, patients in long-term care facilities and patients with planned medical interventions were addressed. Nurses taking care of those patients were also asked to take part in the research . Data were collected by the questionnaire method. The hypothesis I suggests that patients treated in intensive care units prefer the treatment which leads to feelings of security and alleviates pain. This hypothesis was confirmed. The hypothesis II suggests that patients admitted to planned medical intervention have more intensive needs of self-realization than patients treated in intensive care units. This hypothesis was not confirmed {--} patients expecting interventions feel the same need of security and pain management as patients hospitalized in intensive care units. The hypotesis III that patients admitted to planned interventions have more intensive needs of self-realization than patients staying in long-term care facilities was not confirmed. According to the data collected, patients in long-term care facilities need pain management and feelings of security, but they also need to be respected as personalities. They prefer to have the strength to fight the disease to the need of having the bed properly made. The hypothesis IV that nurses do not show enough interest in hospitalized patients´needs of self-realization was not confirmed. Nurses are informed enough about patients´ needs. They usually try hard to find the time to talk to patients. The results should make nurses be more aware of the need of lifelong learning despite their enormous workload and care for their own mental and physical health by following principles of mental hygiene. Manager of a basic line as a member of multidisciplinaire team and his possibilities of the nursing care quality impact

A manager is the one who sets everything on movement in an organization. He/she is also the one who gives order to the movement and who conditions success of all the processes running in an organization. His/her aim is to lead the team to efficient and good quality work performance. A nurse-manager performs the tasks of nursing care of individuals or groups by managing the nursing process. People and their work activities are her goals. She leads them to work, influences them and coordinates their performance, checks, assesses, guides and manages their professional careers. She affects the everyday workplace operation towards high performance and cooperation. She indirectly influences patient satisfaction, the nursing care and moreover also the organization prosperity in her everyday effort. She does all that with regard to satisfaction of the team members and their professional development. If she is to be a really efficient source she must be perceived basically as a capable and motivated person. This also means to do everything for her to become like this. The first goal of the work was to find out the determinants of success of an operative manager and his/her position in general. The second goal was to map the attributes of manager{\crq}s managerial position. The third goal was to map manager{\crq}s work with an operative group. Quantitative research was applied on the issue processing. Questioning, the technique of a questionnaire, was chosen as a data collection method. The questionnaire was designed for head nurses working in hospitals and social care facilities within the region. It consisted of 48 closed and one semi-closed questions. Hypothesis No. 1 states that managerial position is affected by horizontal and vertical relations within an organization. According to the research results the vertical relations may affect a position of a manager in both, positive and negative senses. The position may also be affected by relations between the manager and the staff reporting to him/her. If a manager lacks managerial skills his/her team might be unstable. Such a team might not perform good work and might provide medical care of poor quality. In the sense of vertical relation the position of a manager may thus be uncertain. Hypothesis No. 1 was confirmed. Hypothesis No. 2 says that quality relations between an operative line manager and the staff managed by him affect positively the nursing care. According to the research results the good quality relations may affect the nursing care positively under particular conditions. If the manager creates condition for successful team work and nurses in the team are satisfied. Hypothesis No. 2 was confirmed. Hypothesis No. 3 on a stable team that forms upon forming a functional network of informal social and work relations was also confirmed. In some managers{\crq} opinion a stable team forms upon a functional network of informal social and work relations. The thesis might be utilized for providing the found out information to the basic line managers at professional training sessions. It may contribute to better understanding in relation to the managed staff. Actually if managers are able to understand the issues of leadership and management of people they will have sufficient information in this field and will be able to understand it and lead their teams much better.

Historic view on the development of foreign trade between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation

The bachelor thesis is dealing with the international relations between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation. The aim of the work is to analyse mutual foreign trade in the time period of 1993-2007 with focus on commodity structure. In the first part of the work the main economic characteristics of both countries are summed up, afterwards the development of international trade of the Czech Republic without the impact of Russia is analysed. The core of the work is presented in chapter 4, where the development of mutual foreign exchange in the individual years is described, while the emphasis is primary put on the comparison of commodity structures. The Czech trade policy towards Russia is shortly mentioned in the last chapter.

European union - EFTA relations

The EFTA countries consider the EEA Agreement an ideal solution for their situation. It enables them to join the common market without controversial issues (oil, gas, fishery, environment) being touched. They refuse membership in the EU because of their exceptional economies. The main incentive to keep the relations with the EU so intensive is the trade, which has yet been adjusted by the EEA Agreement, and NATO forms a political framework. The contemporary situation shows how useful the membership in such a strong economic block can be. Iceland, which is considering application for a membership after overcome the bankruptcy, could be an example. We might expect that another EU enlargement will take effect as next inducement for the EFTA countries to revalue their attitude to the EU. Adding the fact that the public opinion, as a strong factor, is changing in time and the number of opponents is decreasing, we might assume integration of the EFTA countries into the EU in long-term.
