Options of using physiotherapy at patients with amputation of their lower limb
ROŽNOVJÁKOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor deals with the possibilities of the use of physiotherapy at patients with amputation of the leg. The loss of the lower limb has a major influence on change in postural stability. Despite the prosthetic equipment patient has impaired proprioception, which is reflected to the pathological walk with compensatory mechanism. We are trying to return a person to normal life with minimal disabilities using specific physiotherapy methods with adequate training and stability. In the theoretical part there is a summary description of amputation and its influence on postural stability, further I deal with protetics options, where I am closely describing the use of functional and posturograf tests. In the end I deal with physiotherapeutics prosthetic equipment and methods applied in practice. The aim of the practical part is to assess the changes in postural stability with the use of the instruments with a biological feedback and to map out the qualitative and quantitative parameters of walking of patients with lower limb amputations. For the practical part have been selected qualitative research, which includes case reports of two patients with transfemoral amputations and one transtibial of the lower limb. Both input and output examination includes a complete analysis of kinesiologic, functional tests with posturography examination of postural stability. Each patient attended 10 individual therapies to increase the stability. The results were compared between input and output of tests. All patient's postural stability has been positively affected with a slight improvement in posture. Despite the regular therapy we didn't suceed to change the pathological components. This state can be caused by the prothesis, which was by all patients described as unsatisfing. Bachelor thesis may be used by students of physiotherapy for extension of their knowledge, or they can apply the knowledge during their practice. It can also be used as educational material for patients who are interested in the issue.
Amputation injuries and their treatment
VITERA, Ondřej
This bachelor's thesis called loss "Injuries and the treatment" is divided into two parts, a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part is at its beginning focused on the history of amputation injuries. These are described from the very first references in Paleolithic up to nowadays. Subsequently, amputations are sorted out according to their location on human body. Considering the topic of amputations, the issue of phantom limb and replantation is also described. A part of the thesis is also devoted to non-professional first aid during loss injuries and to professional aid provided by medical rescue workers during pre-hospital urgent aid. The practical part includes a qualitative research using semi-structured interviews. The aim of the qualitative research is to compare first aid knowledge of loss injuries by joinery students, general nursing students and medical rescue worker students. On the basis of this aim, three research questions were given in the qualitative research. These questions were made to find out the first aid knowledge of medical rescue workers, general nurses and joiners. Due to the topic of the thesis, professional medical training of joiners was examined. For gaining necessary data, interviews with 12 participants were carried out. These participants were discussing 10 questions and their answers were recorded with their prior approval. These data were further divided into 11 categories. The research survey showed that those medical rescue workers who were interviewed had insufficient knowledge of the issue of loss injuries. The survey also showed that general nursing students had insufficient knowledge of non-professional first aid and joinery students had insufficient medical training. Despite these shortages, the results can be used for deeper and more specific understanding of this issue and for optimization of provided healthcare. This knowledge can be useful not only for the examined fields of study but also for non-expert public.
Possibilities of prosthetic upper limb fitting in cycling
Doležalová, Hana ; Čichoň, Rostislav (advisor) ; Půlpán, Rudolf (referee)
Bachelor thesis give an overview of possible solutions in upper limbs prosthetic fitting which is suitable for cycling. And provide enough information on modifications that should be performed on a bicycle so that it can be used by humans with upper extremity prostheses. It can be an essential guide for anyone looking for a solution that would allow a person with an amputated upper limb again sit on the bike. Keywords: amputation, upper limb prosthesis, prosthetic fitting, cycling
Performance measuring of individuals with physical handicap
Vít, Ondřej ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Radvanský, Jiří (referee)
The thesis is focused on the measurement of the energy consumption during the locomotion of the mobility disabled (riding a wheelchair a walking with 2 point support - crutch). The probands were handicapped by partial amputation of lower limb based on the vascular cause which represents approximately 90 percent of all amputations done in the Czech Republic. The thesis also presents a brief classification of amputations according to the extent of the separation, the history of amputations and the main etiologic factors leading to amputation. In the result section the measured data are discussed. In the last part of the thesis, the conclusions are discussed and compared to information available from similar studies. Energy expenditure of driving in a wheelchair in people with lower limb amputation
Němeček, Pavel ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Špaňhelová, Šárka (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to determine the effect of driving in a wheelchair and walking on crutches on the energy expenditure and cardiopulmonary system in people with lower limb amputation. For this measurement we used a device Metamax 3B made by Cortex, functioning by measuring the concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the breathing air, and a sporttester made by Polar. On the basis of oxygen consumption is possible to determine an energy expenditure during the activity. Our study was attended by 11 probands (men), patient of long-term hospital in Motol Hospital. Nine probands were amputated from vascular causes, one from the traumatological causes and one from the other causes. Probands rode (or walked) for four minutes back and forth along the corridor thirty meters long. They were instructed to ride (walk) at a speed to fit their needstand to also keep the same pace for a defined period of time. Walking on crutches without prosthesis managed only three of the testing file. During the study, these values were measured: distance traveled, average speed, oxygen consumption (VO2, VO2/kg, VO2 peak), carbon dioxide output (VCO2), respiratory exchange ratio (RER), tidal volume (VT), breathing frequention (BF), minute ventilation (MV), heart rate (HR), energy expenditure and performance. In this work...
