It depends on the clients themselves which of the activities they are able to pursue with regard to their health condition. I concentrated on a deeper insight into the problems of fee time activities in my research, as the published records of interviews from the visited facility show. Upon interviews with 8 clients of the Home I tried to probe more deeply into their choice of the individual activities. The factors affecting the choice of the individual activities are based on deeper problems based on the character, enjoyment and personality of the clients themselves. I am convinced that the research results might help the Home management in further development and improvement of the services offered to clients, and thus it may contribute to higher client satisfaction. * translation taken from literature

Activation of the elderly as part of nursing care
HÁNOVÁ, Jana
Activation of elderly people as a part of the nursing care The activation is the process through which people, individuals or groups are stimulated to be active. The activation should be as natural as possible, and should copy routines of daily life as much as possible. The activation of the elderly people is a part of the prevention of the occurrence of diseases, accidents and injuries and the maintenance of functional capacity and self-care ability. Nursing activation care is the care which supports self-care ability of an elderly person and is characterized by the fact that this care gets the elderly person and his or her family to cooperate. A part of daily work of the nurse is to assess the level of self-care of the elderly person and to set up a nursing care plan. The nurses working with the elderly people shall embrace learning in this field as a lifelong process and shall be applying the acquired knowledge in their work. The objective of this study was to find out whether the nurses are looking for the areas to activate the elderly people and to discover whether the nurses include the activation into their nursing plans of the care for the elderly people. The study sets an objective to map how the nurses perceive the activation and what ways of the activation they know and apply. The last objective was to identify the way the professor Böhm´s model is applied in practice. All data were acquired by means of a qualitative research, and the interviews were conducted with the nurses and the elderly, namely in the long-term care unit and in the home for elderly people. The research revealed how the data are acquired from the elderly and how they are integrated into the nursing plans. The study also identified the ways of the activation of the elderly, the nurses focus on physical and physical activation of the elderly. Generally, the nurses perceive the activation very positively, and despite difficulties such as shortage of staff and time, they implement the activation in different quality. The research also detected that the Böhm´s model is applied minimally, and the nurses have not met with this model yet. The results of the study can be used by the management personnel, but also by the nurses who work with the elderly people directly. The nurses working with the elderly shall concentrate on specifics of the care for the elderly people within their lifelong learning. The management personnel shall lead to an individual approach to each elderly person because this is the way how to provide good quality care.

TŮMOVÁ, Dana
Teeth aging and the troubles accompanying this process are expected and accepted as a natural part of aging. However, consequences of inadequate dental care, dental care neglecting, a lack of awareness, along with the natural process of involution, the deterioration of physical and mental condition cause an array of difficulties significantly affecting the quality of life. Not only health problems occur, but also speaking and articulation disorders, disorders in food intake and poor aesthetics, which result in a social impact. This issue has been marginalized, though it constitutes an important aspect of human life. The thesis deals with demographic aging implications, the chapters refer to oral health of seniors and there are sections devoted to the description of the health care facility where the research was carried out. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the health and social problems in dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--} Home for the Elderly in Pacov. I focused on the seniors´ subjective views on this issue. The method used was quantitative research, the data collection technique was that of guided questionnaire. The research results are summarized in graphs and tables. The objective was achieved, the data acquisition was carried out without difficulty, the questionnaire survey was more time consuming due to the specifics of the target group. Partial objectification of the information obtained was made through the use of the content data analysis technique. The both negatively constructed hypotheses were confirmed, although to a lesser extent than anticipated. H1 The state of teeth in the seniors in Senior home- Home for the Elderly in Pacov negatively affects their life quality. H2 The current system of dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--}Home for the Elderly in Pacov does not correspond to the real needs in terms of seniors´ life quality. I consider my research an indicator of the quality care of the institutionalized elderly, the outcomes of which will lead to the improvement in care standards in this particular facility and also to a better awareness of the professional public about this broad issue.
The offer of activation programs at senior house Kopretina in Plzeň
FENCLOVÁ, Zuzana
Our population is aging, people live longer. The number of the elderly who are not self-sufficient and need help of other person has been growing. These elderly often do not have a family who could either take care of them or are not able to take care of them. One of the possible solution for such people is to use services of Homes for the Elderly. An important part of care of healthy body is care of psychological (mental) well-being. It is proved that these two areas interact and in the spirit of this interaction, leisure activities in Homes for the Elderly are offered. They offer meaningful use of leisure time to the elderly and also possibility to meet new people and find new friends to spend their leisure time with. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with theoretical ways and solutions connected with old age, with needs of a human and leisure activities of the elderly and it also deals with social services for these people. It also describes the Home for the Elderly called Kopretina in the town of Plzen, where the research took place. Qualitative research and semi-structured interviews were applied to gather data in the empirical part. The objective of the work was to find out whether the elderly in Kopretina are satisfied with the offer of activation programmes. Three sub-questions were set to answer the main pre-set research question. The main research question led to the confirmation of the objective. The information gathered through the research may be used to improve the offered activities in the Home Kopretina. The research also showed which activity in the Home is wanted.
Acceptance of applicants for Home for elderly people by social services law
SAMCOVÁ, Monika
Not a single senior went to the home for the elderly because he or she did not want to be a nuisance for his or her children or other relatives, or at the time of putting in application he or she wanted to be sure of not staying without help, or he or she was not capable of looking after his or her farmstead or covering the costs of a large flat. The inhabitants accredit the primary responsibility for the care of the elderly to the state; it is a stereotype in thinking of most of us: I am old or ill/you are old or ill and I need/you need help, I will go/you will go to the home for the elderly. In the introduction part I deal with the problems of the old age. I describe the ageing as a progressing line of changes in a human from both the biological and psychological aspects. The number of ageing and old people in the world is increasing. These people need help. The Act No.108/2006 Coll. On Social Services, as amended, ensures the fundamental frame of the help needed. The thesis is especially focused on the provision of help in social institutions, homes for the elderly. The objective of the research was to find out about the conditions of admissions to the homes for the elderly. The chosen methodology was non-standardized dialogue with the workers of social departments of selected homes for the elderly and the secondary analyses of the data gained from the web pages of the institutions. It was found out that the age of the institutions residents is increasing. The average age of the residents of all homes for the elderly is 80.5 years. The need and dependence on the help of other person is increasing with the age. Owing to the ageing of population the number of rejected applications to the homes for the elderly is massively increasing. I suppose that the number of applicants could decrease by the coverage of sufficient number of quality terrain services.
