Health related quality of life (HRQoL) in drug addicts and their dependents in relation to gender.
ZLATUŠKOVÁ, Vendula
I focus my bachelor thesis on ascertaining the life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members. The goal of my work is to document, with standardized methods, the differences in their perception of life quality compared with healthy population and to try to analyze differences in both sexes. The following hypotheses were set: H1: Life quality of drug-addicted persons and their families is lower than that of general population. H2: Life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members differs depending on their sexes. Quantitative character method was selected for the research part, using the SF-36 standardized questionnaire of health-conditioned life quality. The resulting research shows considerable difference of the observed sample of drug-addicted persons compared to European Oxford standard in 8 domains. The perception of life quality by family members is also different in all domains, statistically significant at 5% level of significance, which confirms the hypothesis H1 in full extent. The comparison of perception of life quality by drug-addicted men versus drug-addicted women shows only slight differences. The same applies to family members; therefore that difference appears statistically insignificant, under 5% level of significance. So I can disprove the hypothesis H2. The thesis presents compact survey of the issue of life quality of drug-addicted persons and their family members, trying to give a base for further work with them, particularly in social-therapeutic area.
Quality of life of nonalkoholic-drugs users
JUREČKOVÁ, Monika
I have chosen the topic of Life quality of non-alcoholic drug users for the elaboration of my Bachelor thesis because drug addiction constitutes huge global problem of current society. The theoretic part deals with explanation of basic concepts and terms used in the whole thesis. Then a short list of illegal and non-alcoholic drugs follows. Another chapter deals with the impacts of drug addiction on the users, on their psychic and social health, i.e. impacts on life quality, and last but not least it describes also the system of drug addiction therapy. The practical part of this Bachelor thesis includes the goal of the work, the methodology, casuistries and subsequently the hypotheses set. I got the necessary data with the help of qualitative research. The method used consisted of questioning and the tool was semi-standardized interview.I implemented my research in three institutions engaged in drug addiction therapy. The research set was chosen on the base of quota selection and it consists of both active and abstaining users of non-alcoholic drugs. The goal of the thesis is to define impacts of use of non-alcoholic addictive drugs on life quality of their users and also to find out the motives leading to the use of such substances, as well as the motivation that moved the users to decide to abstain. I arrived to it with the help of the elaborated casuistries from which I set the hypotheses subsequently.
Health and Social Impacts of Drug Abuse in Central Bohemia Region
VĚTROVSKÁ, Lucie
The bachelor degree thesis deals with some aspects of drug addiction and long-term drug abuse and with related impacts and risks that affect health and social situation of drug addicts ? clients of low-threshold contact centers in the Central Bohemian region. The theoretical part of the thesis describes general attributes of drug abuse, development of addiction, stages of the abuse and approaches used worldwide to interpret the issue and approaches to its practical solution. It also outlines principles that form the basis of the system of social and therapeutic work with this target group and a current overview of services provided to drug addicts. The practical part contains results from a qualitative research and their evaluation; the research used personal statements of long-term drug users. The objective of the research was, among other things, to expand the notion that the majority society has of the subculture of drug addicts and to contribute to the understanding of the heart of health and social problems of this group of people, their views, attitudes and potential ways out from their current situation.
View of contact centre workers on motivation towards change in injection subutex users and in injection pervitin users.
ŠVARZBERGEROVÁ, Barbora
The work deals with motivation towards change in injection users of subutex and in injection users of pervitin (methamphetamine), who make use of contact centre services. Theoretical part describes the drug users i.e. pervitin and subutex users and the individual impacts, which the usage of these drugs brings. It focuses on the description of the system of work with motivation as a preparation for treatment, executed in the drop-in facilities, namely in the contact centre. Further it describes the process of motivation, the old and the new conception of work with motivation and motivational conversation as a work instrument of the workers in the contact centres. The last part of the thesis focuses on a specialized course of motivational conversations. The practical part contains research, whose objective is to find out the view of contact centre workers on motivation towards change in injection subutex users and in injection pervitin users. The results of the research prove that according to the views of the contact centre workers there are differences in motivation towards change in subutex and pervitin users. According to the workers the strongest motivational component in subutex users is the social functioning limit and in pervitin users it is the social exclusion itself. The workers also think that on the wheel of change the subutex users are closer to decision of change of life style than in the pervitin users.

BLAŽKOVÁ, Klára
My work is about socio-pathological phenomena and their occurrence in secondary schools. Its aim is to localize problems of illegal drugs and young people´s willigness to experiment with them. Then I tried to characterise the reasons of addiction and search typical backgrounds of addicted people, to discover links between their family, school and teenager groups. In the practical part I show analyse and compare the situation of all the grades in SŠ a VOŠ cestovního ruchu and I suppose that it can be used in making preventive programmes.

Problems of drug addicts in the prison of Vinarice
NOVÁK, Martin
In recent years drugs have greatly influenced criminal activity, when drug addicted criminals after their sentence find themselves in prison. Programs of treatment of these persons are implemented in prison, which are directed at their correction, prevention of recurrence and re-integration into normal society. The main objective of this thesis is to map the specific services provided to drug addicted persons in prison in Vinařice. With regard to the set goal, I chose a qualitative research method when the technique of semi-structured interviews was used to collect the data. Respondents who participated in research were situated in the drug-free zone department of Prison in Vinařice. The research has shown that services provided to drug addicted persons are accepted positively by the respondents, they have their justification and they lead to successful re-socialization. The following hypotheses originated from the results of my paper: H 1: Illegal drugs are more obtainable in the environment of ordinary prison sentence, compared to separate drug-free zone. H 2: The specific services provided to drug addicts in the prison environment are accepted positively by the prisoners. H 3: Majority of convicted in the drug-free zone department committed crimes under influence of drugs, or to obtain funds for drugs. But the question remains, how people with drug addiction, namely the respondents who participated in research, will behave in society after their release from prison, when they have served their sentences. The stated facts could be used as a possible topic for further research.
Alcohol Detoxitication Center for Children and Youths its Function and Significance in the Network of Institutions which Provide Treatment
DUKOVÁ, Ivana
The objective of this thesis was the description of the work of the Child and Adolescent Detoxification Centre in Prague, its importance in the treatment drug addiction among children and adolescents. Another objective was to find out about the interrelationship of the work of regional coordinators for the prevention of risk behaviour and forms of follow-up therapy according to individual needs and nature of Child and Adolescent Detoxification Centre in Prague. The research conducted in the period from January to March 2010. Mapping the variants of follow-up therapy of the clients using habit-forming drugs in different regions of the Czech Republic and the forms of prevention are other objectives. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the description of the establishment of the Hospital of Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo, in the premises of which the Child and Adolescent Detoxification Centre (CaADC) in Prague is located, as well as the description of the CaADC, and its medical and other personnel. The thesis describes the process of hospitalization, tests which preceded it and the necessary procedures to ensure successful completion of the hospitalization. Part of the theoretical block is dedicated to the care provided by a social worker, psychologist and therapists. Related legislation that forms the basis of prevention methods of individual regional drug coordinators and the centre itself is an integral part of the work. Prevention is a critical form of struggle against the abuse of psychotropic substances by children and adolescents. It is described in detail here, as well as the factors involved in the development of addiction. Other related terms only complement the mosaic of the studied issue. Within quantitative research, a content analysis of the data from the statistics of the Child and Adolescent Detoxification Centre in Prague was used to verify set hypotheses. The responses of regional drug coordinators to a set of open and semi-open questions, which were formulated for this purpose, were also used. Another source was the results of standardized interviews with three doctors at the Child and Adolescent Detoxification Centre in Prague. Hypotheses 1, 3 and 5 have not been confirmed. On the contrary, hypotheses 2 and 4 have been confirmed. The set objectives have been met. Unfortunately, our country still lacks a sufficient number of facilities that provide follow-up care of child drug addicts, as is clear from the research.
HIV testing problems on the part of addictive drugs users
KRÚPOVÁ, Lucie
The diploma thesis on the theme ?The problems of testing for HIV from the point of view of intravenous users of addictive substances? is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part outlines the whole extent of the problem of AIDS including testing for HIV antibodies generálky and testing for HIV in intravenous users of addictive drugs, the probléme of drug dependence and social work with drug users and the care system for the drug addicted. The practical part of the thesis was carried out through qualitative research. 32 intravenous drug users were questioned, the method used being a semistructured interview. During the second part of the research representatives of seven non-governmental non-profit making organizations, with a target group made up of drug users, were questioned. Two aims of the thesis were defined. The main aim was mapping the awareness of users of addictive substance of the possibilities of testing their HIV status. The second aim was monitoring the posibility of testing HIV positivity in the South Bohemian Region. Both aims were fulfilled. Three research questions were chosen: Do drug users know their HIV status? Is the reason of drug users´ ignorance of their HIV status their lack of interest in this problem? Is testing of drug users in the field adequate? After processing and analysing the results of the research three hypothese were defined. They are as follows: intravenous drug users in the South Bohemian Region are interested in their HIV status. Clients of contact centres underplay the risk of infection by the HIV virus. Testing drug users in the field in the South Bohemian Region is not sufficient. The conclusion of the thesis is first and foremost the discovery that testing in the field of people using addictive substances is necessary and the method of testing fir HIV in intravenous drug users needs to be adapted to the possibility of these people (free testing, the possibility of being tested in the afternoon, accompanying the klient to the health facility). The most advantageous possibility for ensuring a high protestation with intravenous drug users is the link of the contact centre directly with the health centre. An advantage would be especially a local link, so there should be a contact centre near the health facility, which there hardly ever is. Of course the crux is mainly good cooperation between the workers of individual organisations. The results of the research should allow the heads of low-threshold facilities to improve their work in the area of consultancy and widening of services for the testing of clients for the HIV and hepatitis viruses including improving their cooperation with health facilities. The thesis should serve as a basis for processing the regional anti-drug strategy.
Motives for Drug Taking at High Schools Students in Jindřichův Hradec
VESELÁ, Alice
Nowadays Czech young people have more and more experience with addictive substances, particularly with alcohol, nicotine and marihuana. Therefore the author has decided to find out the most frequent motives leading to drugs taking at high schools students. Due to the lack of relevant information for this area the author maps out the situation in the district of Jindřichův Hradec. Statistics concerning the issue of drugs taking are always related to the regions or the whole Czech Republic. The author has carried out quantitative research using the method of questioning and the technique of the anonymous questionnaire. The set was determined by the quote random sample and the quote was the age, sex and type of school. The basic research set consisted of three subsets. Research set A involved students from Gymnasium schools, research set B involved students from other secondary schools and research set C involved students from apprentice training centres. The research showed that the motives for drugs taking are not much different with respect to students from individual schools. According to the secondary school students in Jindřichův Hradec there belong among the most frequent motives longing for unusual experience and the inability to solve their problem or life crisis in a different way than by using the addictive substance. Further there was proved that students of apprentice training centres have more frequent experience with drugs taking than students from secondary school and Gymnasium schools. Contribution of the Bachelor thesis lies in the mapping out secondary schools of the Jindřichův Hradec area with respect to the drug taking issue which was according to the opinions of schools headmasters missing for generating a complex conception of the drug taking issue in the area. The author assumes that making a research particularly in smaller regions could help to solve the drug taking issue generally. The author also recommends more frequent lectures on drug taking issue and excursions to establishments for drug addicts.
