Norway, Sweden - the prospects of development within regional integrations
Šnyrchová, Petra ; Jiránková, Martina (advisor) ; Bartušková, Hana (referee)
The topic of this thesis is the prospects of development of Norway and Sweden within regional integrations. By 'prospects' is meant historical background, current position and an outline of the future development within the integrations. By 'regional integrations' in this work I mean such regional integrations either of which Norway and Sweden are members, or those they intended to join. Those are European Union (or earlier European Communities), European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and closely linked European Economic Area and European monetary union. The thesis aims at illustrating different approaches towards European regional integration on the example of Norway and Sweden, and evaluate prospects of their development. I would also like to assess their position within them. The first chapter gives the basic characteristics of the countries. The second chapter deals with the relations to the regional integrations and the positions within them. The last chapter outlines the future development of the two Scandinavian countries from both the country's and the integration's points of view.
Current Switzerland-EU relationship, reasons for non-accession
Bautina, Olga ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Havlová, Radka (referee)
Switzerland, a country in the heart of Europe, has been already sixty years keeping away from the complete European integration. So far this European country par excellence has not entered into the European Union and in the near future will not consider the full membership in this organization. This thesis tries to perform a complex analysis of Switzerland-EU relations, from both historical and contemporary perspectives. It deals with the possible scenarios of the Switzerland's European policy development in the near future and regards the possibility of EU membership as currently unacceptable. In this context, the author examines the reasons of the country's non-accession to the EU, starting with most obvious ones (political, economic) and ending with the least palpable ones, which are, nevertheless, the most entrenched in the minds of Swiss citizens (socio-psychological reasons).

People would like to make decisions primarily on important local issues. This view is supported by 85% of citizens. On the other hand, decisions on important laws and international treaties should do politicians. This view is supported by 64 % in the case of laws and 83 % in the case of international treaties.
