Evaluation of pulse wave velocity in the human body
Mezuláníková, Radka ; Viščor,, Ivo (referee) ; Jurák, Pavel (advisor)
This Mater's thesis deals with the evaluation of pulse wave velocity using multi-channel whole-body impedance cardiography. Data were taken from the group of healthy volunteers whose impedance changes were measured during rest, respiratory maneuvers, tilt and stress exercise. The result of this measurement are values of peaks of pulse wave time shifts towards R-wave. The velocity values towards the thorax electrodes were recalculated on the basis of knowledge about the pulse wave time shifts and the distances from the heart to the scanned locations, which were measured using the arterial segment's lengths.

Monitoring of blood pressure and heart activity via ECG in prehospital urgent care
VRÁNOVÁ, Anna
The topic of this thesis is monitoring of blood pressure and heart activity via ECG in prehospital emergency care. So the thesis deals with a necessary part of a patient´s examination that precedes effective treatment. In the theoretical part the prehospital emergency care is defined and the emergency medical service, which provides this care, is characterized. Anatomy and physiology of heart is outlined there. Also blood pressure and its measurement is discussed there. Electrocardiography is described and information needed to basic orientation in ECG recording is introduced. The practical part was carried out using mixed methods research. The first method was a quantitative research in the form of a standardized anonymous questionnaire. Employees of the Emergency Medical Service of the South Bohemia Region who work as paramedics became the respondents of this questionnaire. The qualitative research strategy consisted in observation of paramedics when they were monitoring blood pressure and heart activity via ECG in the prehospital emergency care. The aims of the research part were these: mapping of states and situations that lead paramedics to monitor patient´s blood pressure and heart activity, description of different methods of blood pressure and heart activity monitoring and finding the paramedics´ experience with available apparatuses. The last aim was a detailed introduction to monitoring of blood pressure and heart activity via ECG. The results show the following information. Paramedics measure every or nearly every patient´s blood preasure. They begin to monitor heart activity via ECG when the patient suffers from chest pain, is unconcsious, when there is a risk of arrhythmias or when the patient is circulatory unstable. Auscultatory method mediated via aneroid sphygmomanometer is the most frequent way of blood pressure monitoring in prehospital emergency care. Paramedics are satisfied with apparatuses and tools used to blood pressure and heart activity monitoring. All the acquired knowledge serves to detailed introduction to the issue which a paramedic meets in his or her everyday work and must have full control of it.
Specifics of measuring pressure in children
JANTAČOVÁ, Dana
The number children and young people with high blood pressure has been increasing. The current lifestyle is one of the contributing factors to the disease. The most adverse is poor quality diet and excessive intake of salt. Further, the energy expenditure is lower, e.g. due lack of physical activities. Many children and young people do not have enough information about the risks of high blood pressure and its prevention. It is critical to identify groups with a risk of hypertension, i.e. children and young people with the so-called ?high normal? blood pressure. At the beginning we set four objectives: to learn the blood pressure measuring techniques suitable for children ? using digital and mercury tonometers, to find 25 ? 30 children with the ?high normal? blood pressure, to instruct nurses, particularly in the primary care, about the correct technique of blood pressure measurement in children and to compare the values of blood pressure measured with mercury and digital tonometers. The research was conducted in basic and secondary schools in České Budějovice and in a pediatric surgery. The researched group consisted of children and young people aged 13 ? 18. To achieve the first objective we measured blood pressure in 613 children with a digital tonometer and to achieve the second objective we measured blood pressure in 50 children both with mercury and digital tonometers. The results have been presented in form of tables. We found out that it was not necessary to examine more children, as we had expected, to get a sample group of 30 children with the ?high normal? blood pressure. Further, we found out that there was no significant difference between the values measured with a mercury tonometer and with a digital tonometer. The results have shown that it is essential to use the correct technique for blood pressure measurement in children. Based on our findings we have developed an educational material for nurses.
The impact of the excretion Natrium in urine level and blood pressure in ontogenesis
CHARYPAROVÁ, Elena
The results of my study indicate an excessive intake of kitchen salt in children´s population in Czech republic and its influence on higher levels of blood pressure.
Problems of Keeping Non Pharmacological Treatment Measures by Clients with Arterial Hypertension
FUKOVÁ, Jitka
Hypertension is a very common cardiovascular disease. About 20-25 % of population in developed countries suffer from this problem. Long-term hypertension involves higher risk of myocardial infarction, celebrovascular accident, renal failure or eye problems. The treatment starts from non-farmacological measures connected with healthy living. The patients should stop smoking, reduce sodium, alcohol and animal fat intake, lose weight, avoid stress and improve physical training. The aim of this work is to find out if hypertensive patients know non-pharmacological measures and if they follow them. Two hypotheses were stated at the beginning: A questionnare as a quantitative research strategy was used in this work. The questionnaire consisted of 25 questions. The results were grafically processed. The questionnaire was distributed to hypertensive patients of hospital wards in Písek, cardiological clinic in Písek and general practitioners in Písek and Milevsko. The number of respondents involved in the research was 111. Hypothesis 1: Hypertensive patients do not know non-pharmacological treatment measures. Hypothesis 2: Hypertensive patients do not follow non-pharmacological measures. Analysing the data, hypertensive patients know the non-pharmacological measures very well, hypertensive patients do not follow them. Hypothesis 1 was refuted and hypothesis 2 was proved. The analysis will be offered to cooperative hospital wards and general practitioners so that it can contribute to better secondary prevention of hypertensive patients.
