Difficult personal position of client after serious industrial accident
LADMANOVÁ, Jana
Any health damage or death suffered by an employee independently of their will by a short-term, sudden and violent impact of external circumstances in the course of their fulfilling work obligations or in direct connection with them is classified as an industrial accident. Serious accidents usually result in disability and full dependence of the care provided by others. The objective of this work consists in the monitoring of the personal position of clients after serious industrial accidents. The work deals with industrial accidents, their consequences and the chances to get reintegrated into a work position after suffering an industrial accident. It is further concerned with managing the current personal situation after a serious industrial accident by applying the instruments of active employment policy and social services. The research sample consisted of employees who suffered serious industrial accident. I have applied the research questionnaire method. The result of my work based on collecting, sorting out and completing information from a wide range of sources is a survey of several chapters dealing with the issue of the consequences of serious industrial accidents as well as the consequences of a potential health handicap. The research has shown that after a serious industrial accident resulting in the disability of a client the client can make use of the instruments of active employment policy and social services provided by the social network of the Czech Republic. The work results can be used by physicians and social workers providing physiotherapeutic care for clients after serious industrial accidents as well as by the employees themselves and their employers. They can also find use as information materials for the purposes of Regional Labour Departments. The issue of serious industrial accidents should be tackled from the very outset of the problem, i. e. by prevention. The law stipulates the obligation for employers to create a safe labour environment, to make the employees acquainted with potential work risks as well as with the appropriated safe work proceedings. Regular checks related to the fulfilling of the stipulated work proceedings can minimise the risks of accidents. I recommend to carry out work safety instruction sessions for a group of employees in a comprehensible way using active feedback proceedings.
Analysis of work safety and work injuries in the field of land transport and material handling.
KAINZ, Aleš
My Diploma thesis describes the issues of safety and labour accidents in an agriculture in particular looking at the handling of agricultural products. The accident at work is due to an aggregation of several interacting factors and the factors are con-sidered as the main source and cause of accidents at work that affect the creation of industrial accidents. The most important element in protecting the health and safety is prevention. An Obligation to assess risk is one of the fundamental principles of the concept of preventive occupational health and safety policy, which is enforced in all countries declaring the principles of safe - company. The basic need to protect the health of individuals is well established in the Constitution of the Czech Republic. The primary objective of this work is based on an analysis of factors involved in causing accidents at work and on the basis of the analysis, rules and recommenda-tions for the farms so that they serve as a support in the elimination of such acci-dents.
Time going to the work and work injuries
ŘEŽÁBKOVÁ, Jana
Commuting is regular travelling between one?s place of residence and the place of work. A lot of us surely remember our grandmothers and grandfathers talking keenly how they used to go to work to a farm, weaving factory, distillery and further facilities. It used to be usual that people had jobs at distances they could walk. On the other hand nowadays it is quite normal that some people have their places of work tens of kilometres from their homes and they have to commute by various means of transport, get up early in the morning and return late in the evening. Technical evolution has made transport faster but it also brought longer distances to travel to work. Commuting is particularly necessary at places with imbalance between supply of and demand for jobs. About one third of inhabitants commute in the Czech Republic and the travel costs represent approximately ten per cent of family budgets. People that spend more time travelling to work are wrong tempered, they are tired and stressed by commuting and occupational accidents occur as a subsequence of these factors. The aim of the Thesis ??Commuting time and workplace accidents?q was to discover what the average commuting time was and whether commuting affected the health condition of a human. Another aim was to find out how frequent workplace accidents were and how consistent employees were in reporting workplace accidents. 5 hypotheses were set to reach the aim. A quantitative method of questionnaire survey was applied on the research; the data were collected from commuting employees of a health facility, a school and a manufacturing company and compared. The data analyses did not prove that commuting caused health problems, so the hypothesis No. 1 was refuted. The second hypothesis suggesting that people from villages spend more time commuting than those living in towns was confirmed. Another hypothesis that each employee has suffered from a workplace accident was on the other hand refuted. The fourth hypothesis suggesting that fatigue, bad concentration, insomnia as a subsequence of commutation cause workplace accidents was also refuted. The last hypothesis suggesting that employees often do not inform their employers on their workplace accidents was also refuted. The Bachelor Thesis may improve knowledge of the time spent by commuting to work and subsequent occurrence of workplace accidents. The manual designed proposes preventive measures against workplace accidents and brings information in this field.
The Risks of Working as a Nurse
GENGELOVÁ, Gabriela
The work of nurses in health care is often physically and psychologically demanding. Some inpatient departments have specific labor conditions and from them come risks. Nurses are continuously exposed to the risk of injury, infection, but also stress caused by their work. These labor-related risks can cause disorders on health or cause labor-related diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce workload, stress, psycho-social risks and pay special attention to preventive measures and keep sanitary-epidemiological behavior. This Bachelor thesis called ?Risks of Nurse´s Labor? is divided into two parts. The theoretical part strives to summarize the risks of a nurse?s work focusing on preventive measures related to particular risks. Results of this survey are processed in the research part of this thesis. During the survey I used a quantitative method of data collection ? by using a questionnaire. The research file was created by nurses working in Internal and Neurological departments and a Residential facility for chronically ill patients in the Hospital České Budějovice, a.s. and in the University Hospital in Plzeň. In the Bachelor´s thesis 2 objectives and 3 related hypotheses have been set. The objectives were fulfilled and hypotheses were either verified or rejected. The author was trying to find out what nurses regard as the highest risks in clinically focused workplaces and what preventive measures are applied with respect to perceived risks. From the results come out that nurses regard being stung by an infected needle as the highest risk in the workplace. Preventive measures are applied in a limited scope.
Analysis of safety at work and accident rate at work in manipulation with agricultural products
LEXOVÁ, Jarmila
My diploma work deals with issues of safety at work and accident rate at work in the field of the manipulation with agricultural products. A work accident is usually caused by a number of interrelated factors. Thus, the sources and causes of work accidents affect their frequency. Undoubtedly, the most essential element in health protection and work safety not only in our country, but in the whole of the European Union (EU), is prevention. The obligation of risk assessment seems to be one of the basic principles of the preventive approach to the maintenance of health protection and work safety standards implemented in EU countries. The objective of this paper is to carry out an analysis of factors which play a role in the occurrence of work accidents and, as a result of these analyses, to establish general rules and recommendations for the elimination of the occurrence of such accidents and to design recommendations aimed at practical application.
Risks and Protection of Nurses Working in Acute Care Department
HRAZDÍROVÁ, Radka
Abstract Risks and Protection of Nurses Working in Acute Care Departments Nurses working in acute care departments face enhanced risks of injuries, accidents, infections and stress. A burden consists in providing acute care to clients who are undergoing the checkup and have hardly any anamneses. Nurses are exposed to work stress, stress resulted from human relationships, overloading and shift work. Occupational stress increases risks of injuries, accidents and infections. Nurses are supposed to observe the health and safety rules as they are presented in work safety trainings, in regulations and standards. All nurses should know them, use protective working means and protect themselves from injuries and accidents. Any injuries and accidents must be reported which bring both advantages and disadvantages. We have surveyed an intensive care unit of the cardiosurgical department, a department of anaesthetics and resuscitation and operating theatres. We asked six respondents in our qualitative research. There were five aims stated. 1. To find out how much the nurses are informed about work safety rules. 2. To find out if there is any relation between nurse´s age and her awareness of risks in acute care departments. 3. To find out if they protect themselves affectively from injuries and accidents. 4. To find out how stress affects nurses´ work in risky departments. 5. To find out if they apply the methods given in work safety rules in case they are injured or infected. The aims have been fulfilled. The analysis of non-standardised interviews resulted into four hypotheses. 1. Nurses are most affected by risk awareness at productive age. 2. Nurses use gloves and mouth protections as the only personal protective working means. 3. Long-term work stress causes psychosomatic illnesses in nurses. 4. Overanxious and lengthy procedure in case of work injury makes nurses to keep the fact in secret. The findings have proved the fact that nurses know the work safety rules. They use ptotective working means marginally. Nurses at productive age and nurse/mothers of small children are aware of the risks. Work stress does not affect their job performance but it definitely leads to injuries and accidents. The procedure in case of work injuries is viewed as lengthy and that is the reason why they do not often follow it.
