Surface functionalization of the materials by plasma technologies
TROUP, František
This thesis deals with the plasma functionalization of nanofiber materials for biomedical applications. Nanofibers of SiO2 and PCL was functionalized using a microwave plasma in order to establish amine functional groups. The work includes theoretical assumptions selection of these materials, their properties and current use with emphasis on biomedical applications. The paper also presents the theoretical foundations of plasma technology, their principles and practical applications. The experimental part of the work includes the optimization of process parameters for each nanofiber materials, review hydrophilisation surface and material degradation through SEM and private functionalization. In conclusion outlines proposals for further action beyond the experiments of this work.
Investigation of nanomaterials for their nuclear power and research utilization
Jelínek, Martin ; ČEZ,, Jiří Skalička, (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the properties of various nanomaterials and summarizes the latest findings and knowledge of advanced applications in all sectors of nuclear power engineering from construction materials through nuclear fuel, fuel cladding, neutron moderator and coolant to the advanced methods for detection of ionizing radiation ad its direct utilization for electricity production. A significant space is devoted to the applications in safety systems of nuclear power plants. The experimental part of the thesis deals with the possibility of using carbon nanofibers as an additive to the coolant in VVER reactor type in order to improve the thermal properties of the coolant. So far a very little examined issues of neutron balance changes due to interaction with nanoparticles was experimentally verified on the paraffin wax mixture of two different concentrations. The comparison with the reference sample of pure paraffin was also made.
Filtration efficiency of nonofiber cloth
Šimková, Kristýna ; Bělka, Miloslav (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis I deal with filtration efficiency of nanofiber cloth, which are determined by number of aerosol particles measured in front of the filter and behind the filter using APS. Aerosol particles are generated by CMAG. The next topic of this thesis is a search of particle filtration of micrometer size.
Theoretical use of nanotechnology for filtration in HVAC systems
Bosák, Jan ; Ell, Jiří (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
Thesis solves problems using the nanotechnology for air filtration in HVAC systems. Main specialization work is air filtration for clean spaces with high classes of purity. For example Hospitals, sophisticated technology service, pharmacy etc. Thesis is devide for three parts. First part contains foundation infromations about theory and making fabrics by nanotechnology. Next I described laws of physics, That were using during the solving filtration´s issues. Goal for second part was making the experiments, which should show abilities and properties nanofilters during the air filtration in real environment HVAC systems. In the end measure part is compare nanofilters with common filters. There is describe nanofiltres behavior and their possibilies during the filtration as well as. In last part I expressed own opinions on air filtration by nanofibers. Opinions were making throught informations, That I found out in the process working on thesis and my experiences in HVAC field. By this facts I did compare for get a better idea. Additionally last part contains summary infomations from previously parts and own vision to development in the future. Goal work isn´t promotion and advertising sorts technologies. Ask is just summary and describe discovered knowledges, considered opinions ensue from measuring, information from the Net and people Who work in nanotechnology field.
Nanotechnology utilization in nuclear industry and research
Skalička, Jiří ; Štefánik, Milan (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This thesis introduces reader to current knowledge of nanomaterials and their usage. It summarises production methods and usage of different materials in nuclear power plants, nuclear research and nuclear medicine. Theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to possible usage of carbon nanotubes for neutron beam collimation and guides. In experimental part different materials were tested in measuring box connected to horizontal radial channel of VR-1 nuclear reactor and their influence on neutron flux was measured. Tested samples were non-oriented carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, alumina nanowires, oriented carbon nanotubes with several angles of rotation and these samples were compared with results of graphite.
Effect of pH on quantitative determination of additives in nanofibers
Grufíková, Jana ; Marek, Pokorný (referee) ; Knotková,, Kateřina (advisor)
The object of my thesis was to prepare a nanofiber layer with dye additives and to quantify the additive content in dependence on pH. The nanofiber layers with additives were prepared by means of electrospinning. The analysis of the additive content in samples was performed by UV-VIS spectrophotometry. Concretely Erythrosine, Eriochrome Black, Riboflavin and Brilliant Blue were analysed. Each of this colors has different chemical structure and charge. The pH was defined by use of buffers, namely acetate buffer (pH 5), phosphate buffer (pH 7,4) and carbonate buffer (pH 10). For Erythrosine and Eriochrome Black the research was extended to study the effect of ionic strength on the quantitative determination of these dyes. It was found that the quantity of the determined additive depends on the pH and also on the ionic strength. However, this dependency is different for each additive. This confirms the assumption of influenced chemical structure and charge by interaction with polymers and buffers used in this experiment. The accuracy of evaluation is influenced by the way of data processing.
Influence of nanofibers on cement composites in fresh and hardened state
Lisztwanová, Ewa ; Dufka, Amos (referee) ; Bydžovský, Jiří (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis is focused on studying the use of various types of nanofibers in silicate matrix composites and their influence on basic parameters and microstructure. Thesis also experimentally verifies options of dispersion of carbon nanotubes by mechanical ways. The conclusion is complexly evaluated in the influence of carbon nanotubes on the parameters of fine-grained repair mortars.
Utilization of Nanofibres in the Traditional Ceramics Body
Sedláček, Daniel ; Stančík,, Hynek (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This thesis summarizes the current knowledge about ceramic composites with nanofibers. So far, most research focused on the reinforcement of hi-tech ceramics, such as carbides and nitrides, however, this traditional ceramics left behind. Due to the improving the efficiency of production of nanofibers and thus a drop in prices, companies consider their use even in a cheaper ceramic materials. Reinforcement of traditional ceramic shard could theoretically improve many characteristics, but there are absolute minimum of practical researches.
Influence of incorporated nanodiamond particles on mechanical properties of composite material based on multi-layer PVA nanofiber textiles
Prošek, Zdeněk ; Indrová, K. ; Rácová, Z. ; Ryparová, Pavla ; Nežerka, V. ; Topič, J. ; Tesárek, Pavel ; Kromka, Alexander
The present study investigates the influence of NDP on mechanical properties of multi-layer PVA nanofiber textiles. The particles of a diameter equal to 5 nm were incorporated into double- and triple-layer textiles, while the single-layer samples were prepared as the reference. The diameter of PVA nanofibers varied from 100 to 300 nm. We characterized the tensile strength, stiffness and ductility of fabricated nanofibers by using a conventional method – a tensile test. We found that the NDP-enriched nanofibers reveal antibacterial character. However, none or negligible influence of NDP additions on the tested mechanical properties was observed.
