Czechoslovak lawmaking of decrees 1940-1945
Tomáš, Michal ; Rataj, Jan (advisor) ; Háka, Antonín (referee)
This thesis deals with the theme of decree lawmaking, which is still very actual and it also interfere to present Czech - German relations. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, the German side, represented by the Sudeten Germans, have been constantly requiring revision of Czechoslovak war and postwar history under the vague slogan "abolish the Benes's Decrees." There is a strong myth connected with the term "Benes's Decrees" among both Czech and primarily German public. Many people incorrectly believe that the so-called Benes's Decrees are solely the work of President Benes, and that the post-war transfer of Czech Germans and the confiscation of their property were based on these decrees. The aim of this thesis is to clarify the situation around the presidential decrees, to describe the method of their creation and also the origin of the decreeable power itself. The thesis also tries to correct allegations of the Sudeten Germans who often place unreasonable demands without admitting any blame themselves for events that took place during the World War II in Czechoslovakia.
Analysis of the German-Czech relations since the Czech-German declaration
Burešová, Naďa ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Šauer, Jaroslav (referee)
The Czechs and Germans have been neighbours in the Central Europe since centuries. Due to the course of history, some discrepancies might be still present in the mutual Czech-German relations. To solve these historical issues, a "Czech-German declaration" was signed in 1997. The main task of this thesis is to analyse the Czech-German relations after the signature of the declaration. The German point of view is stressed while dealing with the topic. The first chapter explains the development of the Czech-German relations since founding of the Czechoslovakia in 1918 until the signature of the Czech-German declaration. The second chapter deals with the declaration itself. The third chapter refers to the detailed analysis of the Czech-German relations on both -- the bilateral and multilateral levels. On bilateral level, the political, business, cultural relations and other forms of mutual cooperation are being discussed. The cooperation between Czech Republic and Germany in the international organisations, specifically the European Union and NATO, is the main subject of the multilateral dimension of the Czech-German relations that this paper deals with.

Neighborly relations in the Czech and German social discourse
Petráňová, Zuzana ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Cibulková, Petra (referee)
Even nowadays, many key negotiations between the Czech Republic and Germany are being complicated by the two possible perspectives on the interpretation of certain moments in common history and of several legal acts. This paper will try to focus on the developement of relations between the Czech Republic and Germany from the ratification of the Czech-German declaration in 1997 to the year 2007. Closer attention will be paid to an analysis of the developement of the relations after five and ten years. Because of the size of the issue I will specifically concentrate on the analysis of the media discursus of the "Hospodářské noviny" journal and the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" journal. The goal of this resarch is to find out how did the relationships change in the ten year period from the ratification of the Czech-German declaration and if the problems came to an end. The analysis shows that the declaration didn't lead directly to overcoming the problems. The difficulties of the past are still emerging from time to time. From this we can anticipate their continuous reappearances even in the future and assume that it will take a long time for the situation to become absolutely calm.
Czech-German Relations after 1989 - the Impact of Germany on the Integration Process of the Czech Republic into the European Union
Kovaříková, Christine ; Druláková, Radka (advisor) ; Šauer, Jaroslav (referee)
This study is specifically concerned with Czech-German relations since the revolutionary years of 1989/1990 in light of the integration process of the Czech Republic into the EC/EU. The Czech Republic entered the EC/EU within the frame of the Eastern Enlargement. The integration of the Czech Republic was however preceded by the normalization of the bilateral relations with Germany, the process of which is reflected in the common declarations of the years 1992 and 1997. With regard to the complex common history of these countries the bachelor's thesis is to investigate the development of the bilateral relation and its impact on the integration process of the Czech Republic into the EC/EU, analyze the political base and principles, which influenced the attitude of Germany toward the integration efforts of the Czech Republic and map the issues, which had a crucial impact on the formation of the complicated "triangular relation" - Prague, Berlin, Munich.

The Diaries of Josef Taschek (1914-1920)
TALÍŘ, Vladimír
A theme of mutual Czech-German relations in Bohemia remains in spite of a growing interest of historiographers, especially in two last decades, an area which includes a lot of unknown spaces all the time. These conditions concern a bilateral coexistence between Czech and German inhabitants in České Budějovice, too. The town had bordered on a zone of a continuous German settlement, creating a broad belt from Šumava's foothills to Novohradské Hory in South Bohemia and an Austrian region of Waldviertel by the year 1945. The town itself had to begin facing a public life's radicalization, causing by a strengthening nationalism on both the Czech and the German side. A merchant Josef Taschek who held a portreeve's office from 1903 to a proclamation of the independent Czech state in the year 1918, became a leading individuality at the German camp from the last quarter of the 19th century. His daily-notes are deposited in the State Archive in České Budějovice and represent, according to a stint of archive sources for a life of a local German society, very valuable testament whose part an author of the construed bachelor work has decided to dispark and explicate in the event's context of that time.
