Student´s learning styles
BICANOVÁ, Michaela
The main topics of this thesis are students? learning styles. The text is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The former deals with the students? learning styles in a theoretical way. Basic idea is mapping of the fundamental concepts of pedagogical educational process and the definition outline of the main concept of a learning style. The text deals with the possibilities of influencing a learning style from the student?s part, as well as from the teacher?s or other external ones. There are defined and described the types of learning styles, its diagnostics, potentials of influence and possible changes in the former part of this thesis. The latter, practical-based, part focuses at comparison of learning styles of secondary vocational schools (finished by the leaving exam) students and grammar schools students. In the process of qualitative research there are two aims set and two hypotheses pertaining to each of these aims. The first aim is to find out which learning style students prefer regarding the school type they attend. There are two hypotheses pertaining to this aim. The first one presumes that secondary vocational school students prefer the strategic style, whereas the second hypothesis presumes that grammar schools students prefer the in-depth learning style. The second aim is to discover what intelligence skills students use regarding the school type. Again, there are two hypotheses pertaining to this aim. The first one presumes that secondary vocational school students tend to use the interpersonal intelligence skills in the learning process, whereas the second hypothesis presumes that grammar school students prefer to use the logical and mathematic skills in the learning process. The information detected by the questionnaire research is graphically demonstrated in diagrams with comments. The findings about confirmation or disproval of the hypotheses are summarized in the discussion and conclusion parts.
Finding of students´ motivation
KŮSOVÁ, Markéta
This disertation includes two parts. In the first part, terms that are frequently used in the subject of motivation at school, are specified. In the second part of this disertation the development and characteristics of the On-line motivation questionnaire by Boekaerts are introduced. We agree with Boekaerts that the best way, how to establish the feelings of students, is to give them familiar activities and ask them to give information about their cognitions and feelings during their work on the task. The studies support the conclusion that the On-line motivation questionnaire is an experience-sampling method that can reliably find out students´ cognitions and feelings in relation to specific learning task, without disturbing the student´s attention to the task. The On-line motivation questionnaire can open new ways how to study motivation in the classroom. This questionnaire can play a significant role in gaining information about the various reasons, why the students do not want to invest effort to the task in the classroom. The On-line motivation questionnaire can also provide information about the effects that influence the student´s feelings, their engagement in the task and wellbeing in the classroom. According to submission, the czech version of the On-line motivation questionnaire is ready for testing in our conditions

The mentor position within in the nursing team, and her the cooperation with the shift nurses.
MAŘÍKOVÁ, Václava
Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the position of nursing mentor and her cooperation with shift nurses. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into seven chapters, and focuses on the current nursing profession that is also interconnected with education and legislature. The work is further dealing with the role of the nursing mentor and her cooperation with the nursing team. Last but not least, the theoretical part is devoted to the important role of ethics and morality in the nursing profession that is undoubtedly of central importance. We are also addressing the Certified Course for Mentors that we regard as rather positive as one of the forms of lifelong education. The nurses completing the course will acquire new skills and knowledge, but also knowledge in the field of psychology, law, didactics and other fields. The role of a nurse-mentor is rather important as she can pass the acquired knowledge further and positively influence the students in this way over the course of professional training facilitating their adaptation when they start their professional career. It was the main objective of this work to map the current position of a nurse? mentor, what her experience is with cooperation with other shift nurses as part of practical education in the workplace, and whether the nurses direct and sufficiently motivate the students to become interested in the profession of general nurses or midwifes. The section on research employed two methods. The first method consisted in quantitative research in the form of questionnaires. We employed two questionnaires, one targeted the nurses-non-mentors, while the second was intended for nurses-mentors. As a second method, qualitative research was carried out using semi-structured interview conducted with selected head and ward (charge) nurses. Using the qualitative survey approach, we tested the following working hypotheses. H1: the general nurses know what the role of a nurse-mentor is in the health-care team, H2: the nurses-mentors motivate their students to raise their interest in the profession of general nurse, H3: the nurses-mentors are not always occupying leading positions, H4: the nurses-mentors are perceived positively by the shift nurses,
Current situation and educational prospects of paramedics
KLINGEROVÁ, Helena
Current situation and educational prospects of paramedics This Bachelor paper endeavors to investigate the current situation and educational prospects of paramedics, i.e. medically trained rescuers. This topic has recently been much discussed, since a great number of young people are being trained and will be trained to become paramedics, and they should have a clear idea of what the qualification they wish to acquire or have already acquired can bring them. The theoretical section of the paper addresses both the historical development and the current situation encountered in the emergency pre-hospital care as provided in the Czech Republic, with the focus on the Emergency Medical Service of the South Bohemian Region (ZZS JčK), whose staff members constituted the surveyed sample. The theory of the subject gives a legal definition of paramedics and specifies their options of professional training & education. The paper aimed to map the employment possibilities of paramedics at ZZS JčK and to find out what the ZZS JčK staff thought about the prospects of this profession. The survey relied on the method of qualitative research based on the questionnaire technique. As follows from the results obtained, all the paramedics being trained cannot currently find a job with the Medical Emergency Service, but in case an Act on Emergency Medical Service is passed, new Emergency Centers will crop up and more paramedics will be needed. As regards the prospects of career for the paramedics, the employees of the Medical Emergency Service are optimistic, because in case the Service cannot offer them a job, they will be able to find employment elsewhere. Thus the hypothesis envisaging that with the number of trained paramedics growing their prospects of finding a job with the Service will diminish proved partly true. The second hypothesis expecting that the paramedic qualification brings better prospects for males than for females was not confirmed as true. Other results of the survey lead me to recommend that the paramedic training takes on a different form and different length, since most respondents believed the paramedics, on leaving the vocational training, were not completely ready for the field work.

The aim of the thesis is to support mentioned theoretical statements by empirical evidences.
Presentational capabilities of the nurses
VANÍČKOVÁ SUCHÁ, Lenka
The theoretic part of this thesis consists of two chapters. The first one deals with correct presentation, its preparation, data collecting and logical order of the information. The second part of the first chapter describes the system of lifelong education of nurses. Its first section provides basic information about the legislation of this system as well as about the adult education history. The next sub-chapters focus on individual types of education, which are included in the lifelong education of nurses. In order to research this area we proceeded from the assumed connection between the level of education and relationship to education and the quality of presentation skills. We selected a method of quantitative observation and a questionnaire. The objective of this thesis was to discover whether there was a connection between the level of presentation skills and the attitude of the nurses towards their education. The results of this research have shown that such a connection exists
The comparison of communication skills of nurses with a deathward client in hospitals and hospice homes.
ADAMCOVÁ, Lenka
This Bachelor's work examines nurses' skills in communicating with terminally ill patients in hospital and hospice facilities. The aim of this work is to present a detailed overview of the communication skills of nurses treating dying patients in hospital and hospice facilities as well as to identify what approaches nurses working in hospital and hospice facilities are not taking when treating terminally ill patients and to identify the specific issues that nurses must deal with when treating terminally ill patients in hospital facilities. A method of quantitative research was used to obtain findings for this Bachelor's work, and questionnaires were used to collect data. The addressed respondents were medical staff treating patients at the Central Military Hospital in Prague as well as at the St. Agnes of Bohemia Hospice in Červený Kostelec, the St. Lazarus Hospice in Plzeň and the Hospice on the Holy Little Hill in Olomouc. A total of 129 questionnaires were distributed, and only 33 were not returned. Therefore, 74% of the respondents did complete and return the questionnaires. However, 12 questionnaires were excluded for being incomplete. A total of 85 questionnaires, 66% of the original number of questionnaires distributed, were used to process the data. Therefore, the answers of 85 respondents were used for the research. Four hypotheses were established: 1. The methods and the level of communication of nurses caring for terminally ill patients are influenced by education and awareness {--} this was confirmed; 2. The process of caring for terminally ill patients depends on the conditions for providing comprehensive treatment care in hospital departments and in hospital facilities {--} this was confirmed; 3. Nurses in hospital facilities lack sufficient education for communication with terminally ill patients, and the conditions for providing comprehensive care are insufficient as well {--} this was confirmed; 4. Nurses in hospice facilities are familiar with communication techniques and regularly use them when accompanying dying patients {--} this was confirmed. The results of the research will be provided to employees in management positions in the examined hospital facilities and two hospices in order to improve the quality of the care provided to terminally ill patients.
An attitude of single young women to an institution of the marriage and the parenthood
CIPÍNOVÁ, Dagmar
The issue of marriage and partnership seems to be a rather hot topic considering the number of trial marriages, incomplete families or postponed parenthoods. My baccalaureate work deals with a research in the views and attitudes of nowaday´s young single women to the issues of marriage and parenthood. The information for my baccalaureate work has been acquired using content analysis of secondary data. Quantitative research has been selected for the monitoring of attitudes related to the work´s objectives as well as for the purposes of hypotheses testing. The data collection has been based on the method of interview and the questionnaire technique, the questionnaires containing 26 questions each. In total, one-hundred and forty questionnaires (100 %) have been distributed, one-hundred and five of them (75 %) being fully completed and usable for the research purposes. The questionnaire research was carried out in February and March 2009. The questionnaires were anonymous, pre-tested on a sample of respondents within a preliminary research. The questionnaire technique was designed in order to obtain primary data on the target population selected by random choice among young single women living in the District of České Budějovice, the only precondition being that the research was focussed exclusively on single and childless women. Two of the three determined hypotheses could not be confirmed. The research results have shown that the majority of young women wish to live and obviously will live in a marriage, even if after the lapse of a certain period of trial marriage. Concluding an official marriage or entering into the trial marriage relationship are not predominantly dependent of the level of the education achieved, whereas the length of studies or professional training may play a certain role. As far as starting a family is concerned, marriage does not pose an essential pre-condition of triggering the wish in a young woman to have a baby. The research has further confirmed the current trend of postponing marriages into a higher age as well as the rising age of women giving birth to their first baby. The results of the presented work reflect the current situation in the attitudes of young single women to the institutions of marriage and parenthood. They present a valuable source of information related to family planning and reproductive behaviour. They may also serve for the purposes of further studies in this field or may be applied as study material within programmes focussed on the given issue.
