Historical biogeography of cichlid fishes in Usumacinta province (Mexico, Guatemala, Belize)
DRAGOVÁ, Klára
Historical biogeography of cichlid fishes within the Usumacinta province (Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize) is reviewed based on newly collected material specifically for this study. Five areas of endemism within the province were recognized using Parsimony analysis of endemicity. Dispersal-Vicariance analysis implemented in S-DIVA suggests only one of them (the Grijalva-Usumacinta) as the ancestral area for the whole fauna. Other areas of endemism within the Usumacinta province were colonized from this area by dispersals. This biogeographic interpretation suggests a long evolution of the richest cichlid fauna in Middle America in the Grijalva-Usumacinta area of endemism in a sympatric context.
Range size heritability patterns in Carnivora arise from the interplay between evolutionary and geographic constraints
MACHÁČ, Antonín
The thesis explores how the range sizes of carnivorans are shaped by geographic and evolutionary constraints. Employing modern spatial analyses and phylogenetic comparative methods, we illustrate that phylogenetically conserved climate tolerances delimit species? geographic constraints, which in turn shape the species? range size. Range size heritability patterns emerge as a consequence of this interplay between geographic and evolutionary constraints.
Teaching of Biogeography and environmental Protection at the Primary School
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Stanislava
The theme of this diploma thesis is the "Tcheaching of Biogeography and environmental Protection at the Primary School". The thesis is specifically concerned with the elaboration of alternative teaching material for primary schools that can be applied for lessons geography, natural science, as well as interest Gross and seminars. It also represents a source of inspiration and information for teachers. The thesis proceeds from the Framework Education Programme for Basic Education namely from the field of education "Human and Nature" and topical spheres such as "Natural View of the Earth" and "Environment". It complies with the sectional theme "Environmental Education". This thesis includes an analysis and assesment of selected geography textbooks for the 2nd stage of primary school. The main assessment criteria were the quality of subjekt matter processing and textbook structure. Furthermore, the thesis comprises of text part, worksheets, and thein key solutions.
Diversity and biogeography of the genera \kur{Australoheros, Gymnogeophagus} and \kur{Crenicichla} (Perciformes: Cichlidae) in the Province of Misiones, Argentina
PIÁLEK, Lubomír
The diversity and biogeography of three dominant cichlid genera (Australoheros, Gymnogeophagus and Crenicichla) is reviewed within the Argentinean province of Misiones based on newly collected material specifically for this study. The results have revealed strikingly different structuring and origin of diversity between the three genera with implications for a future PhD study. The biogeographic implications of the reconstructed phylogenies using mitochondrial DNA have been compared with the geological history of the area revealing many new insights.
Cassidinae of Panama, part 1 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
SEKERKA, Lukáš
The study deals with taxonomy of Cassidinae of Panama and is based on extensive new material compared with the type specimens in various museums. Totally is listed 178 species of which 33 and two genera are described as new to science.
Variation in the \kur{Melampyrum sylvaticum} group
TĚŠITEL, Jakub
This study deals with morphological variation in the Melampyrum sylvaticum group (Orobanchaceae). Populations of the Hercynian Massif, Western and Eastern Carpathians were investigated using both conventional and geometric morphometric methods. Individual morphological characters were evaluated in detail. Preliminary taxonomic concept of the group is presented. Biogeographical context of detected morphological variation is discussed.
The biogeography as a part of the teaching matter in basic schools
PELIKÁNOVÁ, Petra
Pelikánová P. 2009: Biogeography in education at secondary schools. MSc. Thesis. University of South Bohemia, Pedagogical Faculty, České Budějovice. 133 p. This diploma thesis presents summary of biogeography and world bioms themes and conceives biogeographical textbook chapter that includes also excercises and exam test. This chapter are addressed to pupils of secondary schools. It is based on analyses of geography and biology textbooks. This thesis also proposes incorporation and implementation of this topic to the tutorial of secondary schools.
Interpretation of changes of biodiversity and cultural landscape in the part of drainage area of Svratka river
Halas, Petr
Work treat of sense of conservation of nature and landscape in specific part of drainage area of river Svratka. The ground forms a part of drainage area of rivers Loučka and Libochůvka. Specific feature of landscape is mild broken topography with deep riverine valley. The ground finds on meaningful boundary-line of termophyticum and mesophyticum, this fact and riverine phenomenon implicates big biodiversity.
