Motivation for Volunteering
VESELÁ, Alice
Providing of assistance can be divided into short-term, unplanned and planned and long-term - this form is defined as a volunteering. Volunteering, as a type of prosocial behavior is widespread in the world. Importance of voluntary movement increased rapidly in the Czech Republic in recent years. As an evidence for it is the addition of volunteer centers and other organizations and Act No. 198/2002 Coll. concerning volunteer service. For this reason, the author decided to find factors related to prosocial behavior in persons with long-term, systematic and selfless behavior, which they devote to activities for the benefit of other people, it means volunteers. The author carried out a quantitative research using methods of interviewing, anonymous questionnaire technique (specifically inventory supplemented by other questions). The group was established by quota random sample where quota was sex, voluntary activity and its length. The sample was consisted of a target group of volunteers from throughout the Czech Republic. Research has shown that the most common motive for volunteering is to help others and meet new people, gain new experiences. It was further shown that in the motivation structure of the volunteers (six basic motives influencing the voluntary behavior) was the most represented motive career ? to gain an experience for a his or her career. The benefit of this thesis is to determine the incentive structure of volunteers from health and social institutions, and volunteers from the sporting and educational activities.

ADHD a přístup k dětem ADHD v mateřských a základních školách
ŠIMKOVÁ, Iva
How teachers from pre-schools and primary schools treat children with ADHD syndrome ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) syndrome is psychological disorder that has three main symptoms : impulsivness, hyperactivity and inattetion. Because of these three symptoms, children with ADHD have often serious problems at school. Even if they try their best to have good marks they usually dont, because of their inability to concentrate. Because of the symptoms of the condition, they are usually not well behaved compare to thier classmates. Thats why ADHD syndrome can often cause conflicts between students and teachers and between children and their parents too. Nowadays ADHD affects around 3-5% of children .This means that every teacher will most likely come in to contact with ADHD at some point in their career. With this in mind, are teachers really well informed about ADHD? Do they really treat children with psychical disorders appropriatly? Children with ADHD usually dont like school because they are never successful and good as their peers. Although they dont like studying they still have thier favourite teachers . But which characteristics should an ideal teacher have when working with these children? Which characteristics would these children best relate to? This is obviously a huge subject to look at, we could examine a million different teaching approaches, but for my diploma work I have decided to consider the five which are for me the most important ones {--} extraversion, agreebleness, emotional stability, openness to experience and ability to resist stress. For my research i used two anonymous questionnaires - Big Five Test and Sense of Coherence Test. Next method was test with only five question that examines a teacher´s knowledge of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In addition to these, I also did interviews with children to find out which teachers they prefer to be taught by. As a teacher it can be challenging to have children with ADHD in your class. It needs a large amout of patience, because you wont see the results of your work for very long time. But if teachers and parents work together in supporting child sufferers of ADHD, and help to create a positive learning environment, they can make a difference and turn education into an enjoyable experience. By providing help with things that maybe easier for the rest of the class, and by promoting social activity between ADHD sufferers and their peers, teachers can create an eviroment that better for everyone.
Responses of people invited to participate in charitable collection with regard to possible motives for their acceptance or rejection
SKÁLOVÁ, Markéta
This thesis wants among others to find out whether an individual asked for a contribution to a charitable collection is more likely to accept or reject it, and to define reflected motives for such an acceptance or rejection. Another aim is to find out how organizers of charitable collections evaluate the overall situation in this sphere and finally to find out how the collectors themselves assess their role and position. Two hypotheses were suggested and two questions formed for specification of the purpose. Both, quantitative and qualitative strategies were applied to the research. The quantitative part was implemented by means of a questionnaire survey for potential donators from the public and then for organizers or coordinators of public collections, the qualitative part by means of observation from the position of a collector asking for a contribution ond of semi controlled interview with further applicants for a contribution. The research results show that a large deficit of media presentation and general public awareness of collections exists in the sphere of charitable collections, as well as of transparency, i.e. the possibility of relevant feedback in terms of the flow of the funds raised. All the three groups of respondents mentioned this fact. Saturation of the environment with a numer of collections without any valid information was also pointed out. It is thus obvious that big reserves exist in this sphere and they should be dealt with.
The Empathy in Volunteer and Hospice Worker Caregiving
VÁCHOVÁ, Lucie
The goal of the theoretical part is to deal and understand issues as death and dying, human personality and sel ess help in volunteer and hospice worker caregiving. The aim of the research part is to evaluate personal characteristics of volunteers who take care of dying people. It also includes a questionnaire which examines the level of interpersonal orientation, the volunteers´ capability to organize their work, their endurance and motivation. The questionnaire also focuses on the volunteers´ altruism structure, empathy and willingness to help. I addressed volunteer caregivers in civic associations Sdileni (Sharing) and Cesta domu (Homecoming), St. Alzbeta Hospice in Brno and some volunteer caregivers who have experience with dying or terminally ill people. I compared the results of my research on 15 volunteers with the results of the research carried out by Assoc. Prof. Helena Zaskodna on 828 students of assisting professions in 2006-2008. Both my results and those reached by Assoc. Prof. Helena Zaskodna confirmed that the volunteers showed a higher degree of empathy, exocentric altruism, endurance, and kindness, as it was expected. I tried to write this thesis in a way easy to understand for everybody. I also tried to provide enough evidence to motivate the reader to re-evaluate his or her way of thinking and behaviour and to understand that we ourselves create our lives: Let compassion beget compassion.
Spirituality and religiosity of students of helping professions (in cultures with Christian and Buddhist traditions)
ŠVEHLOVÁ, Blanka
The bachelor thesis called {\clq}qSpirituality and religiousness of students in helping professions (in cultures with Christian and Buddhist traditions) deals with an importance of a religion and a spiritual life for a choice as well as performance of helping professions. This thesis would like to draw an attention to the importance of spiritual dimensions both of clients and professionals in helping professions themselves. In the theoretical part I first focused on definitions of important concepts related to the topic. Further, I look at the spirituality as a part of a holistic conception of a man, which should be a basis for a successful care for the clients. There are also for me important questions, dealing with a motivation of students for the helping professions, to which I devote specifically from the perspective of Buddhism and Christianity. The Christian-Buddhist dialogue bears through the whole thesis. It builds, in the context of a globalized world, on the need of a mutual understanding and tolerance. Last, but not least I also included a chapter dealing with parallels between religious and psychotherapeutic effects. The research part of the thesis consists of a questionnaire survey, a secondary data analysis and a group interview with students of the University of South Bohemia, where the Czech part of the research was carried out. I also hold the questionnaire survey during my foreign intership in Chiang Mai University in Thailand. In the discussion, I come to conclusions which confirm that helping professions are still inseparably linked to a religious faith and spiritual values. The comparison of the Czech and Thai environments clearly shows a conservation of the traditional Buddhist society in contrast with the various, in relation to the religion not sharply defined, European country. The aim of the thesis is a description of the spiritual life, religiosity and spiritual needs of university students of helping professions compared to the Czech and Thai environment. To achieve this aim, I tried to link the theoretical foundations with the research part of the thesis. I believe that by processing this topic I can contribute to an emphasis of the human spiritual dimension in the therapeutic process. Though it is named in the holistic concept of a man, but then it does not usually acquire clearer outlines. This thesis would therefore like to point out a constant topicality of this theme.
The Pro-social Traits of Workers in Helping Professions
FENDRICHOVÁ, Bohdana
In the thesis on the pro-social traits of workers in helping (assistance-providing) professions I dedicate myself to pro-social behavior, empathy and the basic characteristics of personality issuing from the five-factor personality model {--} The Big Five. Most professionals agree that pro-social behavior and empathy belong among the basic characteristics that assistance-providing professionals should have. An important role is also the personality of the care provider. The listed constructs and connections among them however remain the home environment of empirical research and thereby represent the phenomena regarding which there exist few verified findings. The goal of the paper rests in fining the level of empathy and personal dispositions in accordance with the Big Five model that could influence pro-social behavior in selected groups of assistance-giving professionals. The factors in question are neuroticism, extroversion, and openness to experience, graciousness and conscientiousness. Data collection took place with the help of two psychodiagnostic questionnaires. The IRI questionnaire measures level of empathy and the NEO-FFI questionnaire was used for diagnosing the five personality dimensions. The study was quantitative. The monitored set included respondents from three assistance-giving professions {--} nurses, members of the Czech Republic Fire Rescue Corps, and elementary-school teachers. The results confirmed the hypothesis that care providing workers show higher levels of empathy in comparison to the population average, and the hypothesis that these professionals show a higher level of personality traits that, in an interpersonal context, display positive orientation towards others, that is that they are more extroverted and gracious in comparison with the population average, was refuted. These results make it possible to consider that the relationship between the basic personality dimensions and pro-social tendencies may be mediated by the level of empathy with regard to other psychological constructs and the results of social learning. Conclusions cannot be generalized, due to a relatively small sample group. For this purpose it would be interesting to carry out a professional study, which would exceed, in its scope and possibilities, the usual requirements of a thesis paper.

Pro-Social behaviour of volunteers
ŠTORKOVÁ, Andrea
The bachelor thesis titled ``Pro-Social Behaviour of Volunteers{\crqq} addresses volunteering and volunteers, and compares differences in pro-social behaviour of volunteers and the common population. The research verified two hypotheses: 1. Volunteers show a higher level of pro-social tendencies and behaviour than people without any volunteering experience. 2. Long-term volunteers show a higher level of pro-social behaviour and tendencies than people having short-term volunteering experience. Both the hypotheses have been confirmed.
