On the Nothernmost and Southernmost Limits of European Land Snail Spatial Ranges
Křepelová, Lucie ; Juřičková, Lucie (advisor) ; Horsák, Michal (referee)
The aim of this work was to evaluate the limits of ranges of European land snail species along the north-south gradient. To work out the document it was necessary to prepare the set of digitalized maps, that enabled to create the database of ranges of the individual land snails species. Based on obtained data I tried to identify places where the northern and southern borders of species ranges are the most frequent. The landsnails' ranges are affected not only by particular life requirements of the individual species (potential limits), but also by other conditions, especially climatic, geographical and historical (truncated limits). In this work I focused on their differentiation. Above mentioned process also enabled me to track the north- south changes in species richness of the landsnails taking into consideration the truncated and potential limits. The most important natural barriers constraining that numerous of species cannot naturally widespread from the south to the north are the Scandinavian Mountains, the Alpes and the Carpathians and suprisingly also southern borders of german and polish lowlands. On the other hand, spreading of the species form the north to the south is limited only by the Alpes. I also tried to distinguish the group of species whose ranges are not influenced by these...
Diversity and biogeography of protists
Ryšánek, David ; Kulichová, Jana (referee) ; Škaloud, Pavel (advisor)
My bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first part is a literature review, the second part is a practical one, which contains the results of my own research. The first part of my thesis is devoted to the literature review, dealing with two current views on biodiversity and biogeography of protists. The first theory, model of protist ubiquity is described in a few points and illustrated by several examples. Likewise is presented the second hypothesis of moderate endemicity model. In conclusion, both models are compared and advantages and disadvantages of each theory are pointed out. In the second part of this thesis I briefly describe the genus Klebsormidium, which is followed by an optimization of molecular methods to study biodiversity and biogeography of this genus.
Diversity, ecology and biogeography of the genus \kur{Geophagus} s.l. [Perciformes: Cichlidae] (review)
BODNÁROVÁ, Blanka
Neotropical cichlid line Geophagini [Perciformes: Cichlidae: tribus Geophagini] isoneof the largest andmost diversified groups of cichlids. Species within the group are highlymorphologicallyvariable, show different foraging and reproductive strategies and phylogenetic relationships within this group are still not clearly established. The aim of this study was togather as much biological, ecological and biogeographical information about species Geophagus sensu lato, which form major part in diversity of Geophagini, and to summarize known phylogenetic relationships withinthe group. As an alternative hypothesis to the current interpretation of the origin of diversity within the tribe I included biogeographical analysis og this group using S-DiVA (Statistical Dispersal-Vicariance Analysis).
Kritická analýza "Šesté masové extinkce" na příkladu recentních savců: velikost areálu, biogeografie a potenciální fosilizovatelnost
ŠURAL, Jan
For the analysis of extinction risk of the recent species of mammals, ecological and biogeographical data concerning more than 5 thousand species were collected. Clear correlation between extinction risk and range size. The conservation status categories used by the IUCN are not easily distinguished and are probably highly subjective.
Subject matters on inquiry based teaching/ learning in educational programme for Zoo Ohrada Hluboká nad Vltavou
VONDRUŠKOVÁ, Jana
The diploma thesis on the topic of Subject Matters for Inquiry Based Education of Biogeography in Educational Programmes for ZOO Ohrada in Hluboká nad Vltavou consists of two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is formed by research of literature, in which the author of the thesis discusses literature which was used as a source of information for further processing. The diploma thesis also describes methods used in the theoretical part and for creation of own teaching materials. The author describes importance of extracurricular teaching in ZOO Ohrada Hluboká nad Vltavou and characterizes Inquiry Based Education. The practical part focuses on description and realization of the educational programme as such. Three subject matters of educational programme were made in total. Topics of the programmes are based on the concept of Educational programme in ZOO Ohrada in Hluboká nad Vltavou and characterize representatives of animal groups of snakes, birds and predators. Concept of all the programmes is the same. Each programme includes four parts presentation, practical activity of pupils, competition and working sheets for home.
Brown fields in the Czech Republic as the source of biodiversity in agricultural landscape - biodiversity of old industrial biotopes in Královéhradecko (Eastern Bohemia)
PONČA, Dušan
The importace of model areas - landscape used as a mining area in the past - were studied out of the view of biodeversity and their further usage was proposed. The thessis follows a research made in 2010 and shows possible trends of developmnet of individual areas. Out of this reason local biotops were monitored and population of Coleoptera and how it is influenced by human beings were evaluated. It was researched that all three model areas are under a strong mens´pressure. Positive influence of a management on local population of coleoptera was prooved in the model area No. 2. The Island Biogeography theory was also proveed.
The use of project-based teaching in the teaching of Biogeography at the 2nd stage of Primary School
LOUDOVÁ, Veronika
The main theme of the thesis is to create a suggestion of my own teaching material for teaching the topic Biogeography on the 2nd stage of Primary school with the use of project- based teaching and practical form of teaching. The suggestion of the teaching material is in the form of workbook that contains worksheets for biogeographic projects. There was also created methodological guide for teachers to help them in the organization of these projects. The teaching text itself corresponds to the principles defined in the current educational documents. The theoretical part evaluates the significance and status of the topic Biogeography and Biosphere in the curriculum in the context of the Framework Educational Programme for Elementary Education and the school educational programmes of schools monitored. The next chapters are devoted to the didactic function analysis of current educational textbooks and workbooks for the 2nd stage of Primary schools and evaluate the importance of project- based teaching in the teaching of Geography.
Teaching of Biogeography and environmental Protection at the Primary School
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Stanislava
The theme of this diploma thesis is the "Tcheaching of Biogeography and environmental Protection at the Primary School". The thesis is specifically concerned with the elaboration of alternative teaching material for primary schools that can be applied for lessons geography, natural science, as well as interest Gross and seminars. It also represents a source of inspiration and information for teachers. The thesis proceeds from the Framework Education Programme for Basic Education namely from the field of education "Human and Nature" and topical spheres such as "Natural View of the Earth" and "Environment". It complies with the sectional theme "Environmental Education". This thesis includes an analysis and assesment of selected geography textbooks for the 2nd stage of primary school. The main assessment criteria were the quality of subjekt matter processing and textbook structure. Furthermore, the thesis comprises of text part, worksheets, and thein key solutions.
Diversity and biogeography of the genera \kur{Australoheros, Gymnogeophagus} and \kur{Crenicichla} (Perciformes: Cichlidae) in the Province of Misiones, Argentina
PIÁLEK, Lubomír
The diversity and biogeography of three dominant cichlid genera (Australoheros, Gymnogeophagus and Crenicichla) is reviewed within the Argentinean province of Misiones based on newly collected material specifically for this study. The results have revealed strikingly different structuring and origin of diversity between the three genera with implications for a future PhD study. The biogeographic implications of the reconstructed phylogenies using mitochondrial DNA have been compared with the geological history of the area revealing many new insights.
