The Philosophy of Purposeless Time

The article addresses the issue of leisure in the sense of ancient schole. It strives to uncover the relationship between Aristotelian concept of theoretical activity and schole as vacuity. It shows a paradoxical character of schole as purposeless time that forms condition for a meaningful activity. How, then, to restore schole as vacuity today, when colonization of time expands?
Comparison of Plato's and Aristotle's conception of virtue ethics

This work deals with the comparison of Plato and Aristotle's conception of virtue ethics. The first part describes Plato's view of this area of philosophy. Plato puts his ethics based on the analogy between the municipality and the soul. Plato also operates with good ideas. In the second part, Aristotle view. First, I discuss the objectives of its philosophy, which is good, and then bliss. Then there is the division of the moral virtues and intellectual. Then describe each of Aristotle's virtues. The third main section consists of two subsections, the first of which generally compare both concepts when I find the first differences in the overall approach of both authors. In the second subsection I compare other points of doctrine, especially community, friendship and goodness.
Aristotle's Concept of Morally Political Economics

The paper is concerned with the question, if Aristotle among the other scientifical areas dealt also with the economics. The first part is mainly an introduction to the historical context. The second part explaines the economical passages from Nicomachean Ethics, and the third part analyses several key terms from the economical passages in Politics (oikos, oikonomike, chrematistike). In the end is the paper focused on the contrast between Aristotle's notion of oikonomike and the modern economics.
Education for virtues as a legacy of ancient philosophers

This work deals with education for virtues in Ancient Greece and Rome and is looking for common elements that can be traced in current educational practice as a reference to this education. It focuses on several important philosophers: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Seneca and Quintilianus. It examines the virtues which were considered to be the most important, how one can reach them and if they can be learned. The final chapter describes how the antique education for virtue influenced the contemporary Czech education, particularly in the General educational programme for basic education and General educational programme for high schools.
Classic theories as sources of natural law

This thesis is engaged in the theme of natural law, especially in sources of natural law - in theories, which are labelled as "classic". The thesis focuses on these theories (Aristotle, stoicism, Thomas Aquinas) and their common points, which are proper to these theories. That is the object of this thesis. These points present the essence of natural law. The first part explains problem of the term "natural law". The second part deals with the classic theories. The third chapter summarises findings of the second part. The fourth part is devoted to the similarity between the classic theories and the modern (enlightenment) theories. This chapter is devoted to the connection between natural law and positive law too.
Aristotle´s conception of friendship in Nicomachean Ethics

I focus on understanding of friendship by Aristotle in my bachelor work. Plato's conception is included briefly, just as the basis for Aristotle's theory of friendship. The first part of my work, the basic attributes of friends and their distribution are involved. Then is into this ancient concept also included the state, which is actually created by friends. The second part includes a view at the possible solutions to disputes that occur in friendship and more detailed sub-questions addressed the issue of friendship.
The Thomas commentary on the Nicomachean Ethics

The thesis focuses on Aristotelian-Thomist ethics system. In mainly deals with the differences in concept of beatitude, good and related issues, like the science of virtues. The emphasis is placed on understanding and covering the differences in aproach of St. Thomas Aquinas and Aristotele to these ethical topics. Firs the thesis characterises the main issue in Nicomachean Ethics, then outlines the thoughts and ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas in his Commentary, with emphasis on its diference from Aristoteles teachings. First three chapters are therefore the more descriptive part of the thesis, which is based on both primary and secondary textual sources. The fourth chapter is, then, the crucial, practical part, that summarizes St. Thomas theses and ideas concerning beatitude, good and happiness, coming from his unrivaled Commentary on the Ethics.

The main part of the thesis deals with the description of the Aristotle's philosophy and the character of his education that is divided into three parts - physical education, ethics and intellectual education. There is also presented the educational system and subjects.
Suárez's on the transcendental Unity and the Multitude

The paper analyses Suarez's conception of transcendental unity and multitude in his Metaphysical disputations. The conception comes out of Aristotle's apory, according to which on the one hand being is convertible with the One and on the other it is its main dividing member. The study presents Suarez's solution, which draws significantly from scotistic metaphysics.
