Ethical issues concerning pharmacological castration
REISKÝ, Daniel
This paper deals with a now very topical and much debated issue of sexual deviants, who have committed particularly serious sexual crimes and who have the opportunity to undergo treatment for their disorder using pharmacological castration (hormonal inhibition) from an ethical perspective, rid of media tint sensationalism. It also deals with people who demonstrably do not suffer from any form of sexual preference disorders (paraphilia), and yet they have committed a serious act, as those who are affected by this disorder. The objective of this paper is to highlight the issue of sexual deviants who need treatment, without being denied any human rights and, in particular, to distinguish, but not justify, the behaviour of people suffering from such disorders, which, although hardly excusable, can be understood from a certain perspective and the behaviour of healthy individuals whose actions cannot be understood even with the broadest and most benevolent view on the issue. The research was, in relation to the objectives set, carried out in the form of an anonymous quantitative questionnaire that was directed to verify defined hypotheses, in particular, whether the use of pharmacological castration is consistent with human rights, whether pharmacological castration is acceptable only with the reception of an informed consent from the patient {--} a convicted person - and the view of experts on the use of this form of treatment for sexual deviants. In order to achieve the most relevant results, the research sample consisted of physicians {--} psychiatrists and psychologists from various facilities, both outpatient and inpatient, where these deviants are treated. Only to supplement the paper and add authenticity, a qualitative research was carried out in the form of an unguided telephone interview with people {--} prisoners {--} who have committed particularly serious premeditated criminal acts and who have been treated with pharmaceuticals. The views of both the groups were then, where possible, jointly compared. The knowledge gained can be used to inform the general public better about these issues, which could prevent generalizations of individual cases and one-sided view of the nature of the issue. Also the convicted sexual deviants could benefit, knowing that they are not alone with their problem in the society.
Probation and Mediation Service as an Important Factor of Juvenile Delinquent Resocialisation
KRŠÍKOVÁ, Hana
Juvenile delinquency has become a common problem concerning all of us. Crime comitted by young people has risen in our society so there is a need to pay attention to the juvenile behaviour and try to prevent juvenile crime at the beginning. The teoretical part the Bachelor theses deals with presumed causes of juvenile delinquency, its prevention and sentencing in juvenile court. The practical part is focused on one of the discipline measures, the probation programme. The thesis is aimed at the evaluation of the probation programme called "Law in Everyday Life" which is used for recidivists. Together with the evaluation of the programme in some chosen regions, the work is particularly aimed at legal awareness and its improvement. Hypothesis 1 presumes that most of those who went throuhg the probation programme mentioned above have improved their legal awareness. Hypothesis 2 presumes that most of those who went through the probation programme mentioned above do mot commit any other crime in the next year. Tho prove the hypotheses, a quantitative research method, secondary data analysis, was used. All collected and proportionally processed data proved the hypotheses. The research findings show that the clients who completed the probation programme have gained new knowledge of particular legal issues and that most clients have not commited any other crime. The findings of the thesis can serve the workers of the Probation and Mediation Service to measure efficiency of the discipline measures, judges and state attorneys to choose the best measures and non-professionals to improve awareness of alternative sentencing programmes for children and youth.

Current lifestyle of children and youth and juvenile delinquency.
ZADINA, Libor
In my work I would like to analyze the way of life of contemporary young people as it is closely connected to their criminality. Generally, the behaviour of children or young people often exceeds norms of our society (social or punitive). It is caused by multifactorial influences. There is not a single cause but several different causes supplementing each other. By this work I would like to draw attention to this fundamental problem of adolescents. Young people are not only distancing from a healthy lifestyle but they are also broadening the group of people potentially committing criminal acts. This topic is very important to me due to my work and my role as a father of two children whose development is of a great importance to me. My research only confirmed current trend of child development. Young people are mostly living in unhealthy way and they often take part in social {--} pathological phenomenons. I focused on this important problem and would be very pleased if someone not only thought about the problem but also continued the research.
Crime and juvenile delinquency in basic schools in the Klatovy District.
BLÁHOVÁ, Václava
This dissertation looks at crime and juvenile delinquency in basic schools in the Klatovy District. The theoretical section gives a concise appraisal of Act No. 218/2003 Coll., on Juvenile Justice, as well as the internal and external factors potentially influencing the socially pathological behaviour of young people. The study examines current patterns of youth criminality in the Czech Republic and developing trends connected with the issue over recent years, which it then briefly compares to the wider EU experience. The possibilities for intervention work by government departments dealing with education, the police and the justice system with young people at risk is studied in the subsequent chapter. The overall aim of the dissertation is to map the occurrence of predominantly minor offences and juvenile delinquency at basic schools in the Klatovy District in terms of gender, as I suspect that this indicator will feature strongly in the structure of socially pathological youth behaviour. Research was used to determine young people{\crq}s awareness regarding liability for their actions, and what kinds of offences or delinquent activities they most frequently perpetrate. An anonymous questionnaire with 32 closed, half-open and open format questions was used to collect data, and was presented to 303 respondents in years 7, 8 and 9 at five different basic schools. Of the total number of students, 49% were female and 51% male. Schools were deliberately chosen to fulfil the task set by the dissertation, i.e. the question of gender was a primary concern. The aim of the questionnaire was to find out what kinds of socially pathological activities are perpetrated by youths at basic school, and based on the subsequent findings, to decide whether current intervention work with young people at risk in the Klatovy District is sufficient. The research itself corresponds in several areas with data available from the Youth Crime Prevention Officer. In particular, it confirms that delinquency often involves driving motor vehicles without driving licences and the consumption of alcohol. The survey investigation demonstrated young people{\crq}s ignorance of the various age thresholds of criminal liability for their actions, the ascendancy of petty theft, aggression towards classmates and the consumption of illegal drugs. The research points to the conclusion that intervention and work with these groups of young people at risk in the Klatovy District, in terms of preventing illegal drug use and therapy, is insufficient, which similarly applies to the prevention of petty theft, consumption of alcohol, bullying and driving without a valid licence. The elimination of such pathological behaviour will only be successful provided that closer contact is established between school students and prevention workers (school psychologists, counsellors, etc.), as well as other potential organisations, such as the Czech Police, anti-drug co-ordinators and social workers.

KRÁKOVÁ, Zdeňka
