Mexico's presentation abroad

The objective of the Master Thesis is to outline the possibilities of improvement and extension of public diplomacy activities of Mexico. In order to achieve the objective the thesis is divided into 3 parts. The first one summarizes existing theoretical knowledge in the course of study, thus characterizes the terms of public diplomacy and briefly cultural diplomacy and nation branding as well. The following chapter determines particular actors of Mexican public diplomacy and their activities, determines the country's initial conditions in public diplomacy, focuses on the public diplomacy activities in the foreign policy program and analyzes how the country fulfils the basic requirements of public diplomacy strategy. The last chapter depicts Mexican public diplomacy in the United States of America, where a significant decline in positive perception has been seen in recent years, and outlines the possibilities of improvement and extension of public diplomacy activities to reverse the trend.
German Public Diplomacy in the Czech Republic

The phenomena of public diplomacy has been lately discussed among scientists, politicians and other interested persons very intensively. This bachelor thesis is concerned with the German public diplomacy, especially the German public diplomacy in the Czech Republic. The first chapter gives a general description of public diplomacy and related topics, such as cultural diplomacy or national branding. The second chapter offers an analysis of the German public diplomacy and focuses on its current trends and changes. The last chapter investigates the German public diplomacy in the Czech Republic.
Cultural and linguistic tool in foreign policy. The role of language in enforcement of the interest of the United States of America

This thesis aims to summarize history and concepts of antropology and linguistics. It shows the changes of perception of the role of languange in a society. And using the concepts of linguistic antropology it proves the importance of language in every culture and its possible utilization in cultural diplomacy. Afterwards it deals with practical use of English in the domestic and foreign policy of the United States of America - especially the americanization programmes and the difusion of English abroad. The last part looks at the cultural diplomacy of the United States of America and tries to identify where English is used as a tool of cultural diplomacy. And at the very end there are reports on cultural diplomacy for the Congress and the Ministry of State that evaluate the quality of cultural diplomacy and suggests possible improvements.
Slovak Cultural Diplomacy in Practice

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to provide the analysis of the current Slovak cultural diplomacy in the connection with the work of Slovak Institutes which dominate in the Slovak foreign policy as a tool of cultural diplomacy. The thesis is specifically focused on the analysis of the Slovak Institute in Prague. The theoretical level of the cultural diplomacy from a general view is examined in the first part of the thesis. In the second part the development and the function of Slovak Institutes is analysed with the focus on the determinants of the Slovak cultural diplomacy. In the third part the case study of the Slovak Institute in Prague is characterized.
Institute for Cultural Diplomacy - its role and importance

The main subject of this Bachelor thesis is the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD). ICD is a specific organization which is able to apply cultural diplomacy into all today's crucial spheres through large scale of topics of its programs. This thesis is composed of three parts. The first one deals with theoretical side of cultural diplomacy. It defines emplacement of cultural diplomacy in international relations and also focuses on cultural diplomacy's tools and its particularities in the world. The sesond and the third part deals with the Institute, the way it works, its activities, achievements and qualities.
Cultural Diplomacy as an instrument of International Politics

Cultural diplomacy has always been playing an important role in international relations. It is a phenomenon which has been becoming more and more actual recently and which has been permanently growing in significance. There is a huge probability that cultural diplomacy will play a crucial role in international relations of 21th century. This part of diplomacy should not be thus underestimated and it is certainly worthwhile to pay more attention to it. Significance of cultural diplomacy is growing in connection with the growth of importance of "soft power". The theory of "soft power" has been developed by Joseph S. Nye Jr. In his book Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics, Joseph S. Nye Jr. calls for strenghtening of intercultural dialog as a reaction on 11th September 2001.
The Cultural Diplomacy - The Comparison of French and German Foreign Cultural Policy in the Czech Republic

Cultural diplomacy is one part of the public diplomacy which affects almost everybody of us. Studied countries- Germany and France - carry out two of the most intensive and generous foreign cultural policies, nevertheless which differ in basic principles. First two chapters examine both policies from the general point of view. The last one compares their cultural diplomacy in the Czech republic, from both historical and contemporary (institutional question and programme question)point of view.
Czech Republic as perceived by foreign public

The Master's Thesis introduces the definition and scope of term public diplomacy and deals with its dimensions, types and implications. The second chapter describes the system of public diplomacy in the Czech Republic. In particular emphasis is put on actors that participate in public diplomacy, the instruments they dispose of and the strategy they follow. The evaluation of the functionality of Czech public diplomacy system is made based on results of questionnaire which was distributed among foreigners.
Public Diplomacy of the Czech Republic – actual aspects

The diploma thesis introduces the term public diplomacy and examines it in the context of Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to explore, describe and evaluate Czech Republic's practice in the field of public diplomacy. The study also focuses on the term nation branding and brand image of countries. A whole chapter is dedicated to the "brand Czech republic". The last part of the diploma thesis analyzes the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009 from the view of its presentation and communication.
Cultural Institutes as an Instrument for Public Diplomacy

This work focuses on cultural institutes as an instrument of public diplomacy. Aim of the work is twofold: to analyze functioning of an institute and to create a consistent picture of its activities. The first chapter is dedicated to the role of public diplomacy and its relationship with cultural diplomacy. The second chapter examines various aspects of work of an institute. Conclusions of the analysis are then integrated in a general model of cultural presentation carried out by an institute. The last chapter analyzes determining elements and activities of the French, Spanish, Polish, and Slovak cultural institutes in Prague.
