Evaluation of the attractiveness of individual plants and types of pollen for honey bees in depending on their action radius range in Mladá Boleslav area (Central Bohemia).
Kroupa, David ; Farkač, Jan (advisor) ; Vítězlav, Vítězlav (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis was to create a summary of pollen pasture of the European honey bee in the Mladá Boleslav area. In theoretical part, I have put together basic information related to the European honey bee and pollen (bee colony, body structure, bee evolution, bee communication, pests and diseases, bee and plant relationship, harvesting and consumption of pollen, pollen load and bee products). In the practical part, I have determined the pollen load's origin by analyzing pollen. This method was carried out with an illuminated binocular microscope. The plants are sorted into families. This data was then used in statistics, graphs and charts. Altogether, It was collected 4 721 pollen loads between the years 2015 and 2016. I gathered 2 553 samples in 2015 and 2 168 samples in the following year. The biggest pollen pasture was offered by the Brassicaceae family in 2015 and by family Lamiaceae in 2016.
Abundance of honeybee
Brandejsová, Jana ; Titěra, Dalibor (advisor) ; Marcela, Marcela (referee)
Determining place thesis Abundance of bee colonies in the country and the carrying capacity of the land register. Establishing a Connection in Úvaly near Prague with three beekeepers. For these three beekeepers were required to determine reserves of pollen with three visits in the period of May, June and July. Each measurement was carried out always at the three strongest hives. Proven reserves of pollen was performed using photographs of each honeycomb in the hive. After calculating reserves of pollen, to assess the value of honey to the surrounding plants. The conclusion was to determine whether a load for the site Úvaly near Prague is present or not enough bees and suggest possible solutions.
Beekeeping farms in the micro-region Holicko
Ropek, Milan ; Titěra, Dalibor (advisor) ; Hana, Hana (referee)
This Diploma Thesis is focused on obtaining data, how many bee colonies can be found in the micro-region Holicko. Then it wants to confirm or disprove the hypothesis, if the number of bee colonies is sufficient in this micro-region. To meet this objective the analysis in this area was made. The list of bee colony territories was written in collaboration with ČSV, especially with the aid of ČSV ZO Holice. Maps of bee colonies in particular areas of the micro-region Holicko were made according to the data. There you can see flight circuit of bee colonies and their overlapping in relation with bee food sources. The bees have really important role in the nature and an irreplaceable function for men. They provide known bee products and ensure lives of many plant species by pollinating. In the monitored area the number of bee colonies is sufficient but its allocation is not optimal. It means, that there are too many bee colonies in some areas and it can have a negative impact on bee nourishment and their state of health.
Causes of colony losses
Suchomelová, Eliška ; Titěra, Dalibor (advisor) ; Kamler, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the causes of bee colonies losses. In the last years the number of dead bee colonies increased significantly. Especially in the years 2013 and 2014, which this paper deals with, losses were really alarming (on the nationwide average up to 30%). The theoretical part of the paper firstly presents beekeeping in general. Then, the thesis deals mainly with diseases and parasites invading bee colonies. Lastly, the paper describes hygiene and good breeding practice, which helps to prevent diseases and which should be obvious to every beekeeper. The reason for this is the fact that by not following good breeding practice the beekeeper does not threaten not only his/her own breeding, but also the breeds of neighbouring beekeepers. The aim of the thesis is to compare beekeepers practice with the help of the data collected in questionnaires. The questions concern the varroasis disease, which afflicts the beekeepers in this country most often and which is (according to the latest researches) one of the main causes of bee colonies losses. Fifteen beekeepers filled in the questionnaire. None of them (with one exception) had great losses of bee colonies. Eleven respondents noted losses within 10%. The greatest losses noted the beekeeper owning the highest number of bee colonies. The beekeepers admitted one serious mistake, not following the information leaflet of medical products, which may have decreased the effectiveness of treatment. None of the respondents had removed the sealed brood before fumigation and aerosol treatment was done. Therefore not all mites in the hive could have been exterminated.
Importance of insect for the pollination of crops
RŮŽIČKA, Vít
The pollination is an essential service of the ecosystem, which involves besides natural influences also animals. Hymenopteran insects belong to the most significant pollinators. For humans, the most important pollinator is the honey bee (Apis mellifera), which is bred for thousands of years, but its state is being declined in last decades. Reasons of the decline of bee colonies can be found in the intensification of agriculture (pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals) and spreading of diseases (American foulbrood and varroasis). Another important pollinator, which could possibly replace honey bees, are solitary wild bee species. But even those are also affected by intensive agriculture. In these species it is not affected only by the massive use of chemical agents, but also by the change in the structure of the landscape and the loss of natural location for nesting. An important step to protect bees (honey bees and wild bees) is the quantification of its value in the ecosystem service. On this basis, the governments compile new laws, but it is also important for protecting at the regional level.
Produkce a kvalita medu a biomedu
KLEČKOVÁ, Romana
The aim of bachelor thesis was to compare production and quality of honey and organic honey from South Bohemia region. Sensory and chemical analysis of selected organic honeydew honey and conventional blossom honey was done. Chemical analysis assessed these traits water content, sucrose content, hydroxymethylfurfural content and electric conductivity. Obtained analyse's results were compared with legislative requirements for honey quality by Czech Ministry of Agriculture Notice no. 73/2003 Sb. and Czech beekeepers association's standard no. 1/1999 Czech honey. Only organic honey (sample no. 2) did not received Czech honey quality certificate. Measured water content was 19.5 %. Czech honey standard allows water content only up to 18 %. Higher water content was caused by beekeeper by premature honey removal. Honey was not properly matured. Other analysed traits met both quality standards. Lower honey production was found in case of organic beekeeping. Using blossom honey as a winter season reserve is a common practise in organic beekeeping, which reduces the total amount of produced (obtained) honey. Furthermore honey bee pasture and veterinary treatments are only naturally based. Organic honey production was at level of 10 to 11.5 kilogram (without 7 7.5 kg of honey due to food for overwintering) per hive whereas conventional honey production was at level of 23 to 26 kilogram per hive. Organic honey production is not based on quantity but the effort is put on bee contentment welfare.
Diversity of bees (Hymenoptera: Apiformes) in oilseed rape field
VYSKOČILOVÁ, Pavlína
Measuring the diversity of bees was provided in two rapeseed fields (Dešenice, Miletice) in western Bohemia, where various species of bees were caught at eight different locations during two periods (March - April, May June). The bees were collected by using Moerickeho cups (yellow traps) with a concentrated solution of water and detergent.

DVOŘÁK, Zdeněk
The bachelor´s thesis deals with beekeeping in the Czech Republic. It compares conventional and organic beekeeping. The aim is to inform about the demands and conditions, which are needed to run organic beekeeping according to the applicable legislation. The work deals with the knowledge of bees´ life, their origin, history and importance. Furthermore, it is dedicated to the structure of bee community, and describes the work of the beekeeper during the entire year. The text that follows up the bee diseases and pest is an important part of the work. There are also mentioned requirements for obtaining the certification for organic products, i.e. organic honey and wax from organic farm. Some specific examples are used to compare conditions and the results of two farms in organic and conventional mode for the period from 2010 to 2015. The average honey production in conventional beekeeping ranged from 20.86 kg to 26.21 kg of honey per hive, in organic beekeeping the average production was from 9.16 kg to 11.54 kg of organic honey. The cause of lower production of organic honey is the legislative measures, which require keeping of about 2/3 of honey as a resource for wintering the hives. The average price of organic honey was 250 CZK oppose to honey with an average exercise price of 150 CZK.

This thesis deals with an evaluation of differences between feedstuffs which are used for winter restocking of bee-colonies. This was done with the help of comprehensive both literary and laboratory analysis and field experiments. It defines primary, secondary and terciary sources of food. It deals with the problematics of content and forming of hydroxymethylfurfural in bees' food, it clearly characterizes glycidic types of feedstuffs, their development and risk of false honey production which is connected with it. This thesis also focuses on the specifics of honeybee's nutrition and its stages of development. Special attention was paid on sacharide components of these feedstuffs. The thesis brings intermediate results of fields experiment of wintering skills at 6 stands at 3 various locations in the Czech Republic. It also presents a chemical analysis of feedstuffs. In conclusion there are evaluated present findings and results of specialized experiments and studies, explaining the problematics of nutrition, feedstuffs and also genetics-based immunity and detoxication of honeybee, together with the results of experiment, which was performed within this thesis. Key words: honeybee, bee feedstuffs, sacharides, HMF, wintering
Meaning and contemporary situation in beekeeping
TUPÁ, Kateřina
This thesis is concerned by importance and current situation in breeding of bees. At first, thesis briefly describes characteristics of Honeybee (Apis mellifera) and its life cycle. At second, thesis summarizes information about ambitiousness of human work dedicated to breeding of a bee and manipulation with hive, which protective equipment is needed. At third, thesis points out the problematic caused by adverse effects like pests, diseases or mankind. Last but not least thesis deals with quality and production of bee products and current situation of beekeeping in the Czech Republic. Beekeeping is one of the oldest branches of human activity and in peoples' free time its importance is not small. Moreover, beekeeping has very important position in agriculture as a source for pollination of insect-pollinated and cross-pollinated plants, where it helps to increase the yields. Next, it has great importance in the branch of foods, mostly thanks to the production of honey. All of the bee products are highly prized in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and glass industry, where they are parts of nourishing and moisturizing preparations, medicaments and firming cements. Quality of hives is given by the experience of beekeeper and the possibility of financial support by grants assigned by Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. The objective of the thesis is to point out the importance of Honeybee in our landscape and to highlight the significance and quality of bee products. The researches show that the beekeeping is ib the Czech Republic on very high level, but there is lack of beekeepers.
