Basal stimulation and kinaesthetics and their integration into the the care of seniors with specific problems
POLICHRONOVOVÁ, Lenka
Summary In my bachelor's thesis I focus on an integration of a stimulatory care into daily activities of seniors with heavy motoric, cognitive or perceptional changes by the means of the concept Basal stimulation and by the means of the concept Kinaesthetic mobilisation. In a theoretical part I describe an old age with manifestations of involution, I marginally mention a neurorehabilitation, nursing in order to point out a penetration of rehabilitation into the care which is directed to therapeutic aim in a nursing way. Subsequently I deal with both concepts, with individual stimulations and with kinaesthetic principles of mobilization. In a practical part there was a qualitative research applied. A data sampling was implemented by the way of a secondary analysis of documents and by a method of observation. An observation was implemented both as involved and neutral one. There was an instrumental method of casuistics applied to describe an integration of concepts into the care. The diversity of sample was the main criterion at choice. There were 4 males and 2 females in the age range 53{--}95 years old in a set. The objective of work no. 1 was to create an integrated image of the possibilities of integration and of utilization of elements from a concept of basal stimulation and kinaesthetic mobilisation in the care of seniors with specific problems. The objective no. 2 was to support a theory that an interconnection of a concept of basal stimulation and kinaesthetics leads to the development of perceptiveness and to improvement of skills and capabilities. The objective no. 3 presupposes that concepts of basal stimulation and kinaesthetics contribute to a support of overall perception and to improvement of the quality of life of seniors with a somatic, sensoric and mental affection. The objective no. 4 was to find out whether the concepts are a suitable communicational and educational form in a fundamental nursing care in order to achieve a higher level of self-service and mobility. All the objectives were achieved in my opinion. An importance of rehabilitation and psychosocial educational care even in old age ensued from an elaboration of a theoretical part. By the way of evaluation of a practical part I came to my personal opinion that a stimulation care has a positive effect even in a developmental stage of an old age. The thesis could become a source of information at introduction of concepts into practice; it could be conducive for family members when taking care of their close relatives or eventually as a basis for the purposes of study of these problems.
Activation and education programmes for seniors in the region of Karlovy Vary
HANZELOVÁ, Jiřina
The thesis deals with the topic of Activation and education programmes for seniors in the region of Karlovy Vary. The topic is divided here into two parts. The first, theoretical part deals with the old age as a biopsychosocial problem, i.e. it evaluates the demography of old age, the concept of healthy ageing, it deals with medical and social geriatric diagnostics and, above all, with individual activation programmes, their creation and principles, importance and practical application. The work especially includes education programmes, it describes their particularities and use, as well as their teaching at colleges in the region of Karlovy Vary. The second, research part consists of the determining of hypotheses, the aim of the work, and the methodology of the research. I have chosen the quantitative method of research by which three questionnaires were assessed: for respondents living in old people´s homes, for respondents living at home and for professional workers dealing with activation and education programmes in old people´s homes. Further a comparative analysis of the questionnaire for respondents living in old people´s homes as well as those living at home was carried out. The subject of this analysis are the questions of the same aim and their statistic compiling. All the data are compiled with the help of charts, tables and statistic programme SPSS. The most important is the testing of the hypothesis concerning the knowledgeability of respondents about activation and education programmes and related participation in such programmes, and further hypotheses inquiring whether professional workers (course lectors) have enough information on the entire spectrum of these programmes. The discussion is directed at the evaluation of the research targets, practical implementation of knowledge into practice, and especially at additional new facts, which I revealed during the research itself and during the statistic compiling of data. It is possible to say that the respondents must have information on the importance of activation and education programmes, on their taking place and the conditions of participation. Alike the professional staff holding or lecturing them should be professionally trained in courses. Thus the programmes will reach the desirable quality and their importance for the society will be significantly higher.
Contentment of retirements homes clients with nursing care.
PECHOVÁ, Veronika
This bachelor thesis focuses on satisfaction of clients with nursing care in senior citizen homes. The theoretical part of my thesis describes old age and aging, changes in old age, the importance of family support, quality of provided care and also senior citizen homes. In the practical part I have compared two - in terms of size - different senior citizens homes. The main objective was to determine the level of satisfaction of clients in the senior citizen homes with the provided nursing care. Three hypotheses were formulated for the purpose. H1: Clients of the senior citizens homes are satisfied with the nursing care; H2: The size of senior citizen homes affects satisfaction of the clients with the nursing care; and H3: The size of senior citizen homes affects overall satisfaction of the clients. The research used a qualitative survey method with questionnaires. The questionnaire contained 23 questions. Two senior citizens homes were selected to collect data. The first one was a big senior citizens home Máj in České Budějovice, with the capacity of 127 clients, and the second one was a smaller senior citizen home in Kaplice for 54 clients. 50 questionnaires were distributed in each facility, i.e. 100 questionnaires in total. The results have shown that 50% of the clients ranked the nursing care as excellent and 38% as very good. This means that the hypothesis No. 1 has been confirmed. Also the hypothesis No. 2 has been confirmed as clients in the smaller facility had more confidence in the nursing staff as a result of a closer and more personal relationship and therefore they also gave better ranking to the quality of nursing care. The hypothesis No. 3 has not been confirmed. The size of senior citizen homes does not affect the overall satisfaction of the clients. The comparison of results from the questionnaires from the involved facilities has shown that both the homes have their pros and contras. Among the advantages clients from the smaller home mentioned a more personal approach, family atmosphere and sufficiently quiet environment. As a negative they mentioned lack of cultural activities. In the bigger facility the clients praised opportunities to enjoy cultural life but they did not like lack of quiet environment and a less personal approach of the nursing staff.
The Seniors´ Leisure Time Using in Old People´s Homes after the Legislation Change
KROUPOVÁ, Jitka
Ageing population becomes a world-wide problem of the 21st century. The old age represents changes in physical, psychical and social sphere. The image of {\clqq}successful`` ageing is based mainly on the improvement of life quality and adaptation to old age. Special attention is paid to keeping an active lifestyle, even at an old age. The way of spending free time significantly affects both the mental and the physical state of the seniors. Leisure time of the seniors can be filled up with their private activities or with the activities offered in the homes for seniors. The new Act on Social Services, effective since January 2007, regulates mainly the overall conception and conditions for providing social services. Among other affected subjects, the changes stated in the Act also apply to the homes for seniors, their users and providers. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the problems related to ageing and old age, with special focus on seniors´ free time and their leisure activities. I attempted to tackle the problems from the point of view of the Act on Social Services. The research aim was to find out if the changes related to new legislation influenced leisure activities in the homes for seniors. Reaching this aim was facilitated by the hypothesis saying that the legislation changes (Act no. 108/2006 of the Law Code) did not influence the way of spending free time among the clients in the homes for seniors. To elaborate the practical part I applied quantitative survey based on the technique of controlled interviews with seniors in chosen homes for seniors. As an auxiliary method I applied document analysis, namely the technique of the secondary analysis of data. Controlled interviews were conditioned by the fact that the seniors were clients of the given home, their cognitive functions were not impaired and they were willing to provide the answers. The interviews were anonymous and contained 21 questions each. The research showed that the respondents did not mention any obvious changes in spending their free time which could be related to new legislation, and similarly they did not observe changes in leisure activities provided by the home for seniors. I assume that the initial hypothesis was proved by the research. In my opinion the bachelor thesis could provide the broad public with information on the ways of spending leisure time among the clients in the homes for seniors.
