Reproductive health of adolescent girls.
ŠTACHOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis deals with the reproductive health of adolescent girls. Reproductive health is a relatively young concept, its issue is topical and should be the prime concern of the whole society. The theoretical basis of this thesis was to show the essential concept of reproductive health among adolescent girls with a specific focus on the latest problems. Therefore, the introductory part is divided into several subheads. First of them is addressed to reproductive health. It includes an introduction to the reproductive health problems, a brief description of women´s reproductive organs, basic information about the menstrual cycle and personal hygiene. The second subhead is addressed to factors that damage the reproductive health. Attention was focused on gynecological infections, sexually transmitted diseases, cervical cancer and breast cancer. In the third subhead were analysed maturing problems focused on physical and mental changes, the development of sexuality, adolescent risk behavior syndrom and information about contraception. The last subhead pays attention to education by a midwife. It contains the theoretical basis of training and efficiently focuses on reproductive health education. Three study objectives were determined. The first one was to explore the level of knowledge of reproductive health among female students of secondary grammar schools and secondary vocational schools. For this objective was chosen Hypothesis 1: Female students of secondary grammar schools have better knowledge about reproductive health than female students of secondary vocational schools. The second objective was to learn what are the main sources of information for above mentioned students. For this objective were chosen two following hypothesis. Hypothesis 2: The main source of information about reproductive health among female students of secondary grammar schools is professional literature. Hypothesis 3: The main source of information about reproductive health among female students of secondary vocational schools is the internet. The third objective of this thesis wasto compare how female students of various secondary schools are informed about sexually tramsmitted diseases. For this objective was set Hypothesis 4: Female students of secondary grammar schools have more information about sexually transmitted diseases than female students of secondary vocational schools. Data collection was carried out by quantitative research method and its technique was used for questionary creating by the author of this work. The research was proceeded at two secondary grammar schools and two secondary vocational schools in South Bohemia Region. The questionaries were distributed in March 2015. The total number of female respondents involved 160, 79 of secondary vocational schools and 81 of secondary grammar schools. The collected data were processed in Microsoft Excel 2010 program. Chi-square test with 5% level of significance was used for verification of hypothesis validity. The research results showed that female respondents of secondary grammar schools have better knowledge about reproductive health than the ones of secondary vocational schools. Family acted as the main source of information about reproductive health in both groups. There are no differences at respondents´ knowledge in the area of sexually transmitted diseases. Based on the research analysis, Hypothesis 1 was confirmed, the other specified analysis were refuted. With respect to the research results, it would be appropriate that midwives give more attention on education of girls in the reproductive health area. They should primarily emphasize education of adolescents in area of sexually transmitted diseases. Together with it, they should focuse on education in breast self-examination. This bachelor thesis can serve as teaching material for future students of Midwifery. It can also be used as a basis for preparing lectures for adolescent girls.
The attitudes of women towards hormonal contraception
BRABCOVÁ, Michaela
This bachelor´s paper focuses on mapping the women´s attitudes to hormonal contraception. The so called "family planning" is one of the basic human rights. It means that the couple is allowed to decide about the number of children and time of their birth. The phenomenon of negative family planning is connected with the issue when the couple does not wish to have children and chooses the contraception method. Hormonal contraception is one of the most expanded and the most reliable device to regulate natality. The introduction of this paper is divided into several theoretical chapters. The first of them is dedicated to the origin of contraception and afterwards, it describes the history of hormonal contraception. Other chapters concentrate on the concrete combined hormonal contraceptive and progestogen contraception. The conclusion of theoretical part is dedicated to the education. First, the attention is focused on general education, then on the education of women led by a midwife. The practical part of this bachelor´s paper occupies with the women´s attitudes towards contraception based on the questionnaire within the quantitative research. First, the goals were set. The main goal was to learn which method of contraception the women of three different age categories prefer. Partial goal 1 was to map if the education influence the usage of contraception. Partial goal 2 was to learn about the factors that helped the women to choose contraception. Partial goal 3 was to find out if the women detected any changes. Partial goal 4 was to find out if the users of hormonal contraception also use different kinds of contraception. Partial goal 5 was to discover if the women smokers know about the danger of thrombosis that is connected with smoking while using hormonal contraception, and if they use this method. The questions were set on the basis of the aims.
Contraception of Parents´ Eyes and Cooperation with Midwife
ŠLINCOVÁ, Jana
Contraception is one of the forms of negative parenthood planning which incorporates the effort and measures to regulate population and prevent unwanted pregnancy. At present there are a large number of modern contraception products but not each method is suitable for each woman or couple. Therefore, education in this issue is necessary, in particular for adolescent girls. Parents have the greatest influence on the sexual development of their child since they are the first and the most important teachers of sex education for their child. So it is important that the parents are educated in the field of contraception and are able to advise their daughters. Within the scope of nursing care, a midwife shall assist and educate women in selection of a suitable contraception. The theoretical part is focused on contraception methods, the role of family in sex education and on the education of midwives. The practical part addresses parents? awareness of contraception, and the chances of midwives to provide education in the area of planned parenthood and contraception. To handle the given issue, qualitative research in combination with quantitative research was selected. The quantitative research was conducted in the form of anonymous questionnaires intended for parents of secondary-school girls. The qualitative research used the method of interviews with midwives in gynaecology-obstetrics offices in České Budějovice. Four objectives and associated hypotheses and research questions were set. Objective 1: To ascertain the knowledge of parents concerning the methods, effects, reliability and other issues of contraception. Objective 2: To ascertain what criteria parents use to select the contraception for their children. Objective 3: To ascertain whether parents prefer information on contraception from a midwife in a gynaecologist?s office to other information sources. Objective 4: To ascertain whether a midwife has a chance to inform parents of contraception methods within the scope of her educational activity. The objectives have been fulfilled. Hypothesis 1: ?Parents have information on contraception methods? has been confirmed. Hypothesis 2 and Hypothesis 3, namely that parents leave the decision in the matter of contraception to their child and that the main criterion for the selection of contraception is high reliability, have also been confirmed. Hypothesis 4: ?Parents prefer information on contraception from other sources to the information from a midwife? has also been confirmed. The qualitative research has revealed that midwives are well-informed on the latest trends of contraception due to the frequent visits of gynaecologist?s offices by dealers of pharmacological companies. It also follows from the results that the provider of fundamental information is a medical doctor. Although the education in the area of planned parenthood and contraception falls within their competence, midwives do not play any significant role in education concerning this issue. This bachelor thesis may serve as a source of information and a study material for further midwife students. The thesis may also be used as an educational material for midwives at work and for future users who think of using any of contraception methods.

Women's knowledge of benefits and risks of hormonal contraception
NOVÁKOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis deals with finding the knowledge of girls and women on hormonal contraception, its benefits and risks. Contraception is the most common form of family planning in its negative sense. One of the most reliable methods of hormonal contraception, which currently has many forms and is distributed to a large number of manufacturers. Introductory, theoretical part is divided into several subsections, where the first is devoted to the history of contraception from antiquity to the present, and how gradually developed and perfected its methods. There are described the prerequisites for the selection of contraceptive methods, and one of the sections is focused to the evaluation of their reliability with Pearl index. Forms of contraception are initially divided into hormonal and non-hormonal. The non-hormonal methods are only briefly described its various forms, like natural, barrier, IUD and sterilization. There are mentioned some non-specific methods which have time to time found their followers. Hormonal contraception methods are deeply described. Progestogen contraception is divided for chapters about mini pills, depot injections, subcutaneous implants, as well as the beneficial effects of these forms and their potential risks. Another chapters are devoted to intrauterine system and postcoital contraception, again including their benefits and risks. Combined hormonal contraceptives, which is essentially the most frequently used method for protection against pregnancy is divided into individual subsections by the application method. These are the oral form, a transdermal patch and vaginal ring NuvaRing. Custom chapter is also devoted to the benefits and risks. At the end of the theoretical part describes the education that focuses on the lessons for girls and women about contraception from midwife. In the second part of the thesis was conducted by using qualitative research interviews. Prior to its launch were given three objectives (Objective 1: To determine the knowledge of girls 2nd year of Secondary Medical School about the benefits and risks of hormonal contraception. Objective 2: To determine knowledge about the benefits and risks of hormonal contraception in women of childbearing age who have already given birth. Objective 3: Compare the level of knowledge of hormonal contraception in girls 2nd year secondary nursing schools and in women of childbearing age who have already given birth.). To verify the research, qualitative questions were used, and data collection was carried out by using structured interviews. Interviews were conducted with eight female respondents, of which four were students of secondary medical school and four women in fertile age who have already given birth. The results were presented to chart and diagrams. In the next part, the discussion was led above the obtained results. The girls from the first group had a generally knowledge of both hormonal contraception and about its benefits and risks. Women in fertile age had a little more knowledge, but even so, there were several shortcomings in the responses, especially when taking into account of their experience. When comparing the two groups with each other in many ways are more informed respondents from the group of women after childbirth, but these differences are not so significant. In the end of the thesis the targets are evaluated. Since knowledge of girls and women on hormonal contraception, including its benefits and risks have been evaluated on generally only, there is need to intensify education on this topic. Particulary in sex education in secondary school or in gynaecological surgery by midwife. This will offer topics appropriate for some of the other surveys, such as mapping content of education girls and women about contraception from midwife.
