Homeless people create a specific subculture in our society. It's a matter of a negative phenomenon of which the society has a poor opinion coming often from a lack of information. There is a lot of ways helping to find solutions to this problem, in these days. First of all, in this bachelor's work, the terms of the subject are clarified, as well as the history and the general characteristics of homelessness. This work contains the current legislation and some chosen statistics indicators. It proposes possible solutions of homelessness in the Czech Republic, especially in the capital. Projects, conceptions and plans are mentioned as well as the systems of helping focusing on integration, independence and residential services. A list of some active organizations involved in helping this problem is included. The conclusion of the theoretical part is dedicated to the Salvation Army. After the theory comes the practical part. The branch of the Salvation Army named Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures is presented here. It is the place, where my practical quest was done. The purpose of this quest was to figure out if the social and residential services of the Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures are sufficient to allow their adepts to integrate completely to the ordinary society. The information is provided from the users of the asylum themselves. The investigation covers up the services of the centre that should respond to the real needs of its users. The chosen situations of particular people from my quest were considered from an angle of a larger scale of time. Questions were based on the indicators of the past, the present and the future. In order to get information I chose the method of qualified approach and the study of particular cases. A partly structured dialogue was the main technique in which seven clients engaged. We first defined the problem to deal with. It was the effectiveness and the influence of provided services in the asylum. Then we specified the main question and other partial questions of the inquiry. Obtained data was noted, analysed and interpreted in order to provide an answer to the questions of the inquiry. The practical part carries a record of a dialogue with one of the social workers of the Salvation Army Centre of Social Services of Bohuslav Bures provided for my quest as a part of it. The quest showed the asylum thanks to the extent of its services enables homeless people to integrate back into our society. Some other recommendations were stated. ŠMRHOVÁ, Jana
The title of the thesis is Children in children´s homes ? perception of residential stays and their assessment. The first chapter provides the paper´s theoretical groundwork and consists of five sections that define the basic terminology and outline the key issues related to the thesis´ topic. The first section describes the development of social services and children´s homes as well as the current situation regarding shelter homes for parents and single mothers with children in the Czech Republic. The second section provides an insight into the phases of childhood corresponding to the age structure of the group of children that participated in the questionnaire survey described in the practical part of the thesis. The description of the individual phases focuses primarily on psychological development, the phases´ key moments and objectives and on the relationships with family, friends and peers. The third section looks into the influence of the environment on an individual´s development and life quality, focusing on home, family, the understanding of home and the influence of colours. The fourth section narrows its focus onto children in children´s homes. The second chapter is practical-oriented. It starts with a definition of the paper´s objective and its four hypotheses. The objective of the thesis is to identify variable factors influencing how children perceive their residential stays in children´s homes. The following chapter provides an insight into the research methods and the techniques used to collect the data. It also defines the target group and describes the actual research process. The research was carried out on the basis of a quantitative method, using data collected by means of a questionnaire survey. The target group consisted of 132 children aged 8 to 14living in shelter homes for mothers with children in the Czech Republic. The survey was conducted from 30th October to 29th November 2012. The fourth chapter presents the results of the research. It is divided into two sections. The first provides descriptive statistics of the questionnaire survey results, giving an overview of the answers to individual questions. The second sectionuses the SPSS 16.0 software to test the individual hypotheses and determine the dependent variables. Hypothesis H1: The presence of friends in a children´s home has a positive influence on a child´s impression of the children´s home. The influence of friends on the child´s impression of the children´s home is analysed in the following aspects: the building of the children´s home, the room in the children´s home and the interior of the children´s home. It has been proven that having friends in the children´s home positively influences only the impression of the child´s room. Hypothesis H2: The more often children stay in children´s homes, the more they like their stay. This hypothesis has not been confirmed. Hypothesis H3: The younger the children, the more they like their stay in the children´s homes. A statistically significant relation between the age and the positive acceptance of the stay in the children´s homes has been established. Hypothesis H4: The presence of friends has a positive influence on the feeling the children get from the home. Also in this case a statistically significant relation has been confirmed. Chapter five presents a discussion of the results, comparing the hypotheses and the findings of the questionnaire survey. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the research results and discusses the general situation of children in homes and the handicap connected with their stay there. At the very end, the paper reflects on the situation and possible recommendations for practical work.

Project of house for indigent and problematic seniors.
LIŠKOVÁ, Kateřina
At present, the whole world has one characteristic feature in common, which is an increasing number of people reaching a high age. In this respect, the Czech Republic is no exception. As a result, the percentage of senior citizens is also steadily increasing. Most of these senior citizens will be threatened by a low income, especially those who live alone. At present there is no statistics that would show the numbers of senior citizens in specific age groups concerning the amount of pensions, and there is no statistics that would show the numbers in territorial units at lower levels than regions. It is surprising that, with the present alarming prognoses of the numbers of senior citizens, statistical data concerning pensions are not analysed in detail. Some of them rank in the group of poor and problematic senior citizens, as a result, for instance, of paying a low social insurance of failing to pay any social insurance at all. It will be necessary to create a network of services for low-income senior citizens that will guarantee their primary needs. The objective of this thesis was to carry out a monitoring of the need of services for low-income senior citizens, and a proposal of a possible provider of these services. The methodological process included a content and secondary data analysis of socio-demographic indicators about the population of senior citizens. The collection of primary data was conducted in the form of a semi-controlled interview with providers of social services for senior citizens. The target set consisted of senior citizens in the administrative area of the municipality with extended authority of České Budějovice, and the set subject to study consisted of providers of social services for senior citizens. The results of my diploma thesis have confirmed that a service for low-income senior citizens in České Budějovice is not available. My diploma thesis will constitute a basis for the Council of the City of České Budějovice when dealing with the questions concerning services for low-income senior citizens.
