Bartošík, Jan ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis deals with the modification of polyvinyl alcohol for use in macrodefect-free composites. The research involves modifying PVAL grafting suitable groups and the optimization of the preparation of the modified polymer. The concentration of the bounded modifier in polymer chain is measured by UV-VIS spectrometry, FTIR and rheology. The modified polymers were used in parallel thesis for the preparation of MDF composites.

This bachelor thesis deals with methods of producing nanofibres from mixture of different polymers. Different methods of preparation and production nanofibres by 4SPIN® are described in theoretical part. Experimental part deals with incorporation of additives into fibred layer. There were four different dyes used in this thesis: brilliant green, erythrosine, riboflavin and eriochrom black. UV – VIS spectrophotometry was used to measure volume of additives in nanofiber layer.
Modification of polyvinylalcohol of lower saponification degree for preparation of MDF composites
Kotrla, Jan ; Švec, Jiří (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is modification of polyvinylalcohol of lower saponification degree for preparation of MDF composites. MDF composites are characterized by their extreme mechanical properties. However, their low resistance to moisture is a significant disadvantage. Increased moisture resistance could be achieved by grafting suitable functional groups on the polymeric chain and the subsequent cross-linking. The study is focused on optimization of the number of functional groups and the cross-linking conditions. The number of grafted functional groups was determined by UV – VIS, XPS analysis and IR spectrophotometry. The solubility of the crosslinked samples was measured by rheological measurements.
Development of methodology for study of mechanical activation of chemical reactions at phase boundaries
Matoušek, David ; Kalina, Lukáš (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis deals with impact of mechanochemical activation on a nature of interphase region in macro-defect-free composites (MDF). MDF composites are highly perspective material on a polymer-cement basis. The most significant advantage of this material is high flexural strength (cca 150 MPa). High strength is caused by high-shear mixing of mixture of cement, polymer, water and plasticiser in twin-roll mill. High-shear stress leads to mechanical activation of reactions between cement and polymer and creation of weak or even strong interactions in interphase region. This work aimed on creation of interphase region by contact of surfaces of two moulded tablets – polyvinyl alcohol and monocalcium aluminate. Next step was construction of simple apparatus, able to define the rate of mechanical activation in interphase region. The most important part of this work concentrated on analysis of activated interphase region by XPS.
Evaluation of Inkjet printout degradation
Blažková, Michaela ; Čeppan, Michal (referee) ; Veselý, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the study of inkjet print degradation on handmade paper modified by polymer layer containing light stabilizers and inorganic filler. The polymer layer coated on the medium consisted of polyvinylalcohol, titanium dioxide and light stabilizer. The influence of light promoted degradation and light stabilizers was observed. The experiments were carried out on Q-SUN Xenon Test Chamber device, Model Xe-1-B/S. Colorimetric values of test chart were measured and the influence of different light stabilizers on the color difference between original and faded sample was evaluated.
Homogenity of aditives in nanofibres
Linha, Vojtěch ; Pokorný,, Marek (referee) ; Knotková,, Kateřina (advisor)
The goal of this thesis was to summarize basic options of fiber spinning and incorporation of additives. Options for nanofiber production by 4SPIN® are described along with particular electrodes for spinning in theoretical part. The experimental part was focused on influence of molecular structure of additives to incorporated volume of the substance. For this research four dye was used: erythrosine, riboflavin, briliant blue and eriochrom black. UV-Vis spectroscopy was used for evaluation of volume of aditives in nanofiber layer.
The study of degasing process during thermal treatment of advanced ceramic
Kocián, Karel ; Šoukal, František (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with mechanism and kinetics of the burnout of additives during thermal treatment of ferrite ceramics. In order to establish this process thermal analysis were used, specifically: simultaneous thermogravimetric determination, differential thermal analysis and thermal analysis with evolved gas analysis (TG-DTA and EGA), high-temperature microscopy (HM), burning test in kiln with controlled atmosphere and high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HT-XRD). To determine the elemental composition after sintering and characterization of the sample, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used.
Polymer-cement composites of increased refractoriness
Žůrová, Marcela ; Mončeková, Miroslava (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The subject of the barchelor thesis is the preparation of high-strength polymer – cement composites based on the calcium aluminate cement and polyvinylalcohol. For macrodefect–free (MDF) composites are characterized by low porosity and the absence of microcracks. The main problem of the MDF composites is decreased resistance to water or moisture, with a decrease in strength. These compounds are interesting with its mechanical properties, which are greater than the strength of common materials (wood, glass, PMMA,…). Represent perspective type of material that could be used for construction purposes. The thermal degradation of the polymer, however, there are changes in the structure of the composite and to the deterioration of mechanical properties. This thesis is focused on characterization of the effect of temperature change on the structure, material composition and mechanical properties. The MDF composites were prepared based on calcium aluminate cement, which was gradually replaced by refractory additives. During the work was carried out tests of bending strength at various temperatures. Changes in the composition and structure were characterized by TG – DTA, XRD and SEM analysis.
High-strength macrodefect-free composites for refractory applications
Ryšková, Martina ; Másilko, Jiří (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the study of heat-resistant macrodefect-free (MDF) cements based on calcium-aluminate cement and organic polymer polyvinylalcohol. Macrodefect-free cements are particularly important in excellent mechanical parameters, which include tensile strength in bending. These materials are characterized by their low porosity and the absence of microcracks. The main role of the MDF cements takes binding and non-flush interaction with polymer cement, which affect the chemical and physical-mechanical properties. The main problem in applying the MDF cements is the low water resistance. To prepare macrodefect-free samples were used calcium-aluminate cement (SECAR 51, SECAR 71) and polymer polyvinyl Gohsenol GH 17S. They were observed changes in mechanical properties depend on the type of curing samples were cured at laboratory temperature and 70°C. Samples annealed at 1000 ° C and then tested for tensile strength in bending before and after annealing, compared to mechanical properties. Thermal stress was tested by doping a microscope TGA-DTA-EGA and TMA analysis.
Stability of Poly(vinyl alcohol)-Titanium Dioxide Composite Films
Potočková, Lucie ; Jančovičová, Viera (referee) ; Dzik, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the preparation of composite PVA/TiO2 hydrogel. Glutaraldehyde was used as the crosslinkong agent.
