DICOM protocol analysis and its utilisation in image signal processing
Valouch, Lukáš ; Přinosil, Jiří (referee) ; Šmirg, Ondřej (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis describes DICOM which is a summary of standards for handling, storing and transmitting information in medical imaging. This standard is developed by organizations ACR and NEMA, it is very large file and it contains 18 of documents which are an actual version of this norm. The last norm was got out in 2008. The most important part of this format of date and files is data image processing so called off-line communication. It follows description of implemented application in C, C++ languages by the help of Imebra library. This Imebra library is free in terms of license of GNU GPL. The resultant program is standard of DICOM from, which is described above. This program is concerned with imaging of 16 bits of dept on 8 bits of dept of display devices, for example common computer displays. This application is able to display several layers of DICOM’s pictures. Each of layers contains separated bites which are presented by importance of levels.
Perfusion image processing
Dolníček, Petr ; Dvořák, Pavel (referee) ; Mikulka, Jan (advisor)
The goal of this diploma thesis was to create a script in MATLAB, which is capable to load DICOM pictures, read the data in their headers and then select the right series for perfusion analysis. This analysis is based on detection of contrast fluid in bloodstream and tissue and right interpretation of concentration changes of this fluid in time. This work is trying to describe a way of building an ultimate system capable of autonomous tumor analysis and classification. In the end, there is an analysis of DICOM sample performed by created script.
Neuroinformatics and sharing data from medical imaging systems
Klimek, Martin ; Kubásek, Miroslav (referee) ; Provazník, Ivo (advisor)
The presented master's thesis deals with the issue of storing and sharing data from medical imaging systems. This thesis, inter alia, consists of organizational and informatics aspects of medical imaging systems data in multicentric studies containing MRI brain images. This thesis also includes technical design of a web-based application for image data sharing including a web interface suitable for manipulation with the image data stored in a database.
Modern Methods of MR Static Image Enhancement
Zbranek, Lukáš ; Přinosil, Jiří (referee) ; Smékal, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this masters thesis is design and implement an appropriate method for highlighting MR images and the identification of rough edges to provide for division of controlled areas. To this purpose is possible to use the Wavelet analysis. For the simulation environment I using MATLAB entviroment, where introduce the comparison for different types of de-noising and too for different mother wavelets. These methods will be implemented on various MR images of termoromandibular joint.
Wavelet analysis and enhancement of MR tomography and ultrasound images
Matoušek, Luděk ; Bartušek, Karel (referee) ; Smékal, Zdeněk (advisor)
Tomographic MR (Magnetic Resonance) and sonographic biosignal processing are important non-invasive diagnostic methods used in a medicine. A noise added into processed data by an amplifier of tomograph receiving part and by circuits of sonograph is resulting in a body organ diagnosis degradation. Image data are stored in a standardized DICOM medical file format. Methods using wavelet analysis for noise suppression in image data have been designed and their comparation with classical methods has been made in this work. The MATLAB was utilized for data processing and data rewriting back to the DICOM format.
PACS (Picture archiving and communicating system), confrontation advantages and disadvantages two systems
ČECHOVÁ, Petra
The system PACS ( Picture archiving and communicating system) was developed in medical institutions because of all the time increasing requirements on images elaborated at digital imaging machines. The thesis deals with the basic definition of Picture archiving and communication system (PACS), explains basic definitions and importance of contemporary valid definition for DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). It further deals with possibilities offered by PACS, especially its linking with existing hospital information system. There are mentioned advantages, disadvantages, risks and usage of this system in medicine. The aim of my thesis is comparison of two communications systems for archiving and image transmission. The research processed in Teaching Hospital of Saint Anna in Brno and in Masaryk Oncology Institution thanks to description of system structure and sent questionnaires on this topic.
Impact of digital imaging on practical work of radiographer
MAREK, David
The submitted bachelor{\crq}s paper deals with the impact of digital imaging on the practical activity of a radiological assistant. In 2006, I participated in a professional seminar held by the AURA-GROUP company, which focused on digitalization of modalities in the health service. This topic seemed to be so interesting for me that I decided to find out what their experience were and what the comparison of the analogue and digital imaging would be like from the point of view of assistants working in practice and to find out more about requirements concerning a radiological assistant{\crq}s work both under the analogue and under the digital operation. In the theoretical section, the principle of X-rays is provided together with a small excursion into the history and the method of analogue and digital imaging and current methods of archiving as well. In this section, the current state of radiology is surveyed and the principles of the individual methods, their advantages and disadvantages together with future prospective are described here as well. In the practical section, I decided to verify the hypothesis that the digital imaging is more valuable in practice that the analogue one. Within the framework of quantitative methodology, the method of fact-finding through questionnaire was used. This questionnaire was presented to employees of radiological departments and the results were subsequently statistically processed and evaluated. The research sample was set up from employees working in the radiological departments in the hospitals in České Budějovice and Český Krumlov. For the purposes of this research, I made no difference as far as the individual age categories or educational background or any other criteria are concerned. This means that this selection was not limited in any way and it has, in my opinion, sufficient support both from the theory and practice and thus it has a sufficient testifying value with respect to the knowledge and experience of the radiological assistants subject to the research. The results of this work confirmed the respective hypothesis and it was demonstrated that digitalization has positive impact on practical activity of a radiological assistant for the purpose of post-processing adjustments, X-ray images archiving using the PACS system, and the fact that there is no need of the so-called wet process is particularly beneficial as well. In the summary, we should also see economic advantages, as they are one of The most important criteria for development of new methods of activities in the field of health care at the present time. The fact that the digital method of imaging saves costs relating to films, chemical substances, archiving capacities (rooms and staff) brings substantial savings, which may be utilized for example for the purchase of technologically advanced equipment.

An analysis of the use of digitalization in the department of radiology
Potančok, Martin ; Kunstová, Renáta (advisor) ; Plšková, Lenka (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the digitalization of medical records in the departments of radiology in hospitals. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the process of the digitalization of medical records in the departments of radiology, analyze the effectiveness of changes and make recommendations for non digitalized departments. The introductory section deals with the legislative and technological background of the digitizing. The second part is focused on a real case study of the implementation process. It is a modernisation of the whole department of radiology in a medium-size district hospital. The third, and most important, section contains the analysis of the implementation. There is also a comparison with the analogue option. The last section consists of recommendations for the selection process and the implementation of new technologies for non-digitalized departments of radiology for both the smallest and medium sizes.
