Psychosocial consequences of maltreatment, abuse and neglect in chilhood
LEITGEBOVÁ, Zdeňka
The bachelor´s thesis at hand focuses on psychosocial consequences of insufficient or defektive childcare, which involves disproportionately harsch physical punishments, sexual abuse and/or lack of sufficient expressions of love and acceptance. Children affected by these adverse events face major problems in their later lives and their behaviour, attitudes and lifestyle in further life stages, especially in adolecence, may be harmful to society. The objective of the thesis was to recognize the effects of maltreatment, abuse and neglect in childhood in the girls living in the Educational Institution in Jindřichův Hradec. The second objective was to identify what subjective needs we can see in girls suffering from CAN syndrome who were put in the Educational Institution in Jindřichův Hradec. The quelitative survey carried out in connection with the topic in question used the theory anchored in deasing. The method employed in collecting data involved interrorgations using the technique of semi-structured interview. Qualitative content analysis was selected as the method for data processing. The research target group comprised of 10 girls who had been subject to maltreatment, abuse and neglect in their childhoods and who have been assigned to live in the Educational Institution in Jindřichův Hradec. The outcome of the survey schows that the selected girls who were subject to abuse in their childhoods suffer from depressions, apprehensions, anxieties, and embarrassment. Commonly , they schow low self-esteem and no trust in themselves and people around. Other frequent consequences of CAN (child abuse and neglect) syndrome, which the girls mentioned in the guided interviews, include experiments with addictive substances, aggression, and self-aggression. Current needs that the girls quoted most frequently included: need for family, partner, freedom, but also continuous attention of another person. The survey suggests that the girls have an unsatisfied need for harmony, understanding and love. The results of the survey may be used while completing individual plans of care for the girls assigned to the Educational Institute in Jindřichův Hradec. The thesis might serve as an inspiration for those who work with developmentally traumatized children and youth for special educators and other specialists working in other institutions around the Czech Republic.

BENEŠOVÁ, Zuzana
Violence committed against children is a serious problem, on which each of us should be sufficiently informed. It is a socially unacceptable phenomenon violating human rights. Cases of children torment, abuse and neglect have been still more frequently covered in media recently. It is very important for prevention of this social pathological phenomenon that children should be informed as much as possible about violence committed against children. And primary school should be one of the sources of the information. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis describes forms of violence committed against children, its consequences and of course prevention of this phenomenon. It also focuses on development specifics of the pubescent children who formed the research sample for subsequent research into the issue. The first goal of the thesis was to find out and compare the extent of awareness of violence against children among pupils from selected primary schools. The second goal was to find out what prevention programmes and activities focused on prevention violence against children are in place in two selected primary schools in České Budějovice and Bechyně. Pupils from both the schools showed awareness adequate to the extent of the activities implemented in the schools. Pupils from the České Budějovice school are better informed on violence against children than those from Bechyně. Their school also provides more preventive activities in this sphere. The goal of the thesis was to outline the issue and possible prevention of this social pathological phenomenon and to map the extent of its prevention in selected primary schools.

Monitoring the Public Awareness of CAN Syndrome Issue
HANZÁLKOVÁ, Simona
My Bachelor Thesis consists of two parts ? a theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I have briefly described the significant information related to the CAN syndrome. When compiling the theoretical part I have worked with written sources and web sites references. In the empirical part I have investigated in a questionnaire research the people?s awareness of CAN syndrome in the Town of Kolín. The questionnaire contained 16 questions, of which 8 were closed, 4 were open and 4 were semi-open. The research was carried out in January 2010. I had handed out 135 questionnaires and within two weeks received 120 of them back. The questionnaires return was therefore 88,8 %. I have illustrated the results of the research in charts. I have evaluated all the questionnaires in two ways ? from the point of the respondent?s age and from the point of their level of education. There are following two assumptions in my thesis: Assumption 1 ? The public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tied with age. Assumption 2 ? The public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tied with education. I believe the public awareness of the CAN syndrome is tolerable. My thesis may in future be used for the purpose of improving the public awareness, for instance in decisions which groups of the public should the CAN syndrome promotion be aimed at and which communication media should be used. The research has brought out that the best medium for enhancing the public awareness of CAN syndrome is the worldwide web, television and lectures for pupils and students at schools. Therefore I would concentrate in future on production of web sites offering reliable information related to the CAN syndrome, TV shows and discussions with Professional as well as attractive lectures for children and young people at schools.
Educational program for parents about violance commited on children
AUBRECHTOVÁ, Kateřina
Violence committed against children, especially physical maltreatment, abuse and neglect, is a theme which has recently been covered by media reports more and more often. It is a sad thing that in spite of a big amount of reported cases there is a lot of other ones which remain hidden behind the private household walls. Physical maltreatment, abusing and neglecting children is a very grave and interesting topic at the same time. I started being interested in it already at the secondary school. That is the reason why I have chosen this topic for my final bachelor thesis. The theoretical part focuses on family and child and their position in society. In this thesis we can find types of maltreatment, abusing and neglecting described. Further on we are getting to know the text characteristics, after - effects, victims and perpetrators of each kind of maltreatment. The aim of this work is to find problematic areas of violence committed against children where parents do not have enough information yet. The research was carried out using written questionnaire forms. These ones were handed out to parents of children attending 1st to 4th classes of elementary schools in Sazavka and Habry. In my thesis, three hypotheses have been set. The first one implies that the foreknowledge of the patents is closely connected with their age. This hypothesis has not been confirmed. The second one implies that the foreknowledge of the patents is closely connected with their education. This hypothesis has not been proved either. The last one implies that the parent who is informed should know at least one example of four essential types of maltreatnent. This hypothesis has been confirmed by the obtained results. According to answers, 87 % of parents have information on physical maltreatment, 86 % parents on psychical maltreatment, 74 % on sexual maltreatment and 33 % of parents know neglecting. On the basis of the obtained results it will be possible to make an educational programme for parents in the field of violence committed against children.

Awareness of Preventive Programmes Aimed at the CAN Syndrome
MÜLLEROVÁ, Pavla
The thesis ``Awareness of Preventive Programmes Aimed at the CAN Syndrome{\crqq} is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the CAN syndrome, i.e. a syndrome of a child exposed to violence, abuse or neglect. It describes its different forms and symptoms, presents characteristic of the most frequent victims and offenders and the situation in the Czech Republic in terms of legislation and CAN syndrome occurrence. A substantial part is dedicated to prevention of violence, abuse and neglect of children at all levels {--} i.e. primary, secondary, tertiary and quartery prevention. The thesis illustrates preventive measures on the STOP Violence on Children campaign and on methodological measure defining a procedure for doctors having suspicion of CAN syndrome. The thesis is aimed at finding out the extent of awareness of these prevention programmes among the general public as well as professionals. To reach the aim a research was performed in the practical part. A questionnaire investigation among secondary students, paediatricians, child social-law protection workers and police officers was chosen for the research method. Two hypotheses based on the given aim were formed. The first one says that students of the last year of secondary schools in Tábor do not know the STOP Violence on Children campaign. The hypothesis was not confirmed. The second hypothesis says that paediatricians, child social-law protection workers and police officers of the South Bohemia Region are not familiar with the methodological measure defining a procedure for doctors having suspicion of CAN syndrome. This hypothesis was not confirmed either. The Bachelor Thesis may be utilized as a source of consistent information on the CAN syndrome. Its main contribution is in summarizing the awareness of the issues of mistreating, abusing and neglecting children and of preventive programmes aimed at the CAN syndrome among the general public as well as professionals.
