Zavřel, Vladimír ; Karpová, Eva (advisor) ; Němcová, Ingeborg (referee)
The purpose of the present thesis is to analyse the relationship between competition law and economics on the example of the USA and the EU. In the first chapter is mentioned the context that led to the issuance of antitrust laws in the USA, the EU and other countries, as well as the most significant economic theories which had a major influence on the application of competition law. This is followed by the description of the institutional framework of competition law in the USA and the EU, their respective primary sources of law, including non-legislative documents. The second chapter analyses the most significant anticompetitive conducts for both antitrust areas (i.e. anticompetitive agreements and unilateral conducts), with a special attention to the most harmful anticompetitive conducts (e.g. horizontal price fixing) and to relatively new and dynamically developing areas of antitrust law (e.g. refusal to deal related to intellectual property). Each selected conduct is introduced by the description of potential anticompetitive effects of the conduct and it is followed by relevant significant American and European precedents. The last sub-chapters analyse non-legislative documents issued by the FTC, DoJ and EC which enable to educe their current general approach to mergers.

The Theory of Coalitions in the Context of Elections to the Regional Board of Representatives in 2000 and 2004
Slámová, Klára ; Just, Petr (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
The master thesis "The theory o f coalitions in the context o f elections to the regional board o f representatives in 2000 and 2004 " deals with formation of executive bodies at the regional level. The theory of coalitions, concerned exclusively with coalitions at the national level, is applied herein to a lower political level. This is contributed by the fact that in the Czech Republic the regional (as well as municipal) level operates on the same basis as the national level. The legislative body - the board of representatives - disposes of the direct mandate; from it the executive - the council - draws its own mandate. Thus, the effort to transpose the theory of coalitions to a specific environment of regional politics is hereby facilitated. This thesis commences with a theoretical introduction in which the theory of coalitions is presented, focused on the typology of coalition governments. The work follows with an analysis of the institutional aspect of regional politics. The regions as the new regional authorities of self-government needed to establish not only their structure of organization and certain powers, but also the electoral system through which the main body of the region would be filled. Following the theoretical introduction, emphasis is put on the examination of each region (within two...

Generation of short-wavelength (<160 nm) radiation by conventional lasers
Chalupský, Jaromír ; Malý, Petr (advisor) ; Krása, Josef (referee)
The theoretical part of this diploma thesis seeks to explain the methods used for generation of coherent short-wavelength radiation. It describes the principles and the operation conditions of direct laser sources and indirect coherent radiation sources based on non-linear effects. Special attention is then paid to the short-wavelength free-electron lasers. This work summarizes properties of numerous sources of this kind. The introductory part of the thesis deals with the physical background of the generation and the manipulation of shortwavelength (VUV/XUV) radiation. The experimental part gives a summary of the results obtained at the FLASH facility (Free Electron LASer in Hamburg; earlier known as VUV FEL) operated at DESY. Methods and instrumentation used for investigating the materials damage due to laser ablation are described in this part of the thesis. UV-vis emission spectra of ablation plume were measured. Main goal is here to determine the ablation thresholds and the effective atenuation lengths in poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), quartz (a-SiO2) and monocrystalline silicon irradiated with pulsed (~30fs) short-wavelength (32nm) intense laser radiation.
