Meeting selected Quality Standards of Social Welfare Services in the centre Diakonie ČCE Blanka in Pisek
VESELÁ, Iveta
The theme of my bachelor's paper is fulfilment of selected quality standards for social services in relation to the clients, but also in relation to their relatives, in one specific social care institution - the BLANKA Centre of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren Deaconry in Písek. The target group of this institution are senior citizens, who are becoming an ever more significant group needing social assistance. They do not want to be excluded from the company of their peers. They want to live dignified and full lives even in this stage of their lifetimes. Therefore, compliance with care quality standards, especially in relation to senior citizens in residential establishments, is very important aspect of provision of high-quality social services. In the theoretical part, I define the basic concepts in the field of social services and focus on the Act on Social Services and the subsequently ensuing quality standards for social services and inspection of social service provision to deal with them in greater width. The objective of the paper was to establish whether the selected standards in relation to the clients, but also in relation to their relatives, are complied with. Two hypotheses were defined. To achieve the objectives of this bachelor's paper and to verify the hypotheses defined, quantitative research was chosen in the theoretical part. Data collection was performed using the interview method, by controlled interview technique for the clients, and by questionnaire technique for their relatives. Document analysis, a secondary data analysis technique, was used as an auxiliary method. Having processed the research part and made its subsequent evaluation, I believe that the quality standards are being complied with in the senior citizens' home of the BLANKA Centre, both in relation to the clients and in relation to their relatives. Although you may infer from the results achieved that the standards are fulfilled and complied with in the senior citizens' home, it is important to point out that evaluation of quality standards does not mean mere monitoring of fulfilment of the individual quality standards and the methodologies elaborated from them. It is a long-term, continuously developing and changing process, in which mutually suitable possibilities have to be sought both by the users and by the provider in order to respect the individualities of the users, their rights and needs.
Health and social services in carehome for elderly people in Linz Austria
KŘENKOVÁ, Vladimíra
The thesis deals with the level of health and social services provided in a home for the elderly in the town of Linz in Austria and further with the comments on their provision. In the theoretical part, the basic knowledge and assumptions for the provision of care to the elderly are described along with an analysis of important areas of the problematic of aging and old-age as a phenomenon. I described here also the conditions for providing social services in a particular facility. In the empiric part of this thesis, the research result, the set goals, hypotheses and discussion on the theme related to the problematic of my work are worked out. The aim of the thesis was to find out the conditions for providing health and social services in the home for the elderly, to find out satisfaction of the clients in the particular facility and opinions of the facility´s staff on the quality and extent of the care provided to the elderly. In connection with the aim of this thesis, hypotheses concerning satisfaction of the clients with the care of own person have been set. Further on, concerning satisfaction with the offer of social-therapeutic services. The third hypothesis related to the staff´s opinion on social- therapeutic services in the home. The last hypothesis was related to satisfaction of the staff with further education of the staff within the home for the elderly. While the first two hypothesizes that assumed satisfaction of the clients of the home for the elderly were confirmed, the hypothesis setting up the assumption that the home´s staff will evaluate the quality of the social-therapeutic services positively was not confirmed. The last hypothesis that the staff, according to their opinion, has good conditions for further education within the home for the elderly was then also confirmed. I used quantitative research in my thesis. Questionnaires were chosen as the data collection technique. The questionnaires results are then assessed in the text and in the graphs. I think that the goal I have chosen in my thesis was fulfilled, according to my opinion and this thesis can be used as a demonstration of care provided to the elderly abroad. The thesis can be also used as inspirational material for the social care providers for the elderly in this country.
The Seniors´ Leisure Time Using in Old People´s Homes after the Legislation Change
KROUPOVÁ, Jitka
Ageing population becomes a world-wide problem of the 21st century. The old age represents changes in physical, psychical and social sphere. The image of {\clqq}successful`` ageing is based mainly on the improvement of life quality and adaptation to old age. Special attention is paid to keeping an active lifestyle, even at an old age. The way of spending free time significantly affects both the mental and the physical state of the seniors. Leisure time of the seniors can be filled up with their private activities or with the activities offered in the homes for seniors. The new Act on Social Services, effective since January 2007, regulates mainly the overall conception and conditions for providing social services. Among other affected subjects, the changes stated in the Act also apply to the homes for seniors, their users and providers. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the problems related to ageing and old age, with special focus on seniors´ free time and their leisure activities. I attempted to tackle the problems from the point of view of the Act on Social Services. The research aim was to find out if the changes related to new legislation influenced leisure activities in the homes for seniors. Reaching this aim was facilitated by the hypothesis saying that the legislation changes (Act no. 108/2006 of the Law Code) did not influence the way of spending free time among the clients in the homes for seniors. To elaborate the practical part I applied quantitative survey based on the technique of controlled interviews with seniors in chosen homes for seniors. As an auxiliary method I applied document analysis, namely the technique of the secondary analysis of data. Controlled interviews were conditioned by the fact that the seniors were clients of the given home, their cognitive functions were not impaired and they were willing to provide the answers. The interviews were anonymous and contained 21 questions each. The research showed that the respondents did not mention any obvious changes in spending their free time which could be related to new legislation, and similarly they did not observe changes in leisure activities provided by the home for seniors. I assume that the initial hypothesis was proved by the research. In my opinion the bachelor thesis could provide the broad public with information on the ways of spending leisure time among the clients in the homes for seniors.
The Options of Activation in the Clients of an Old People´s Home in the Tábor Region
MICÁKOVÁ, Vladimíra
My baccalaureate work deals with the topic ``The Options of Activation in the Clients of an Old People´s Home in the Tábor Region{\crqq}. Demographic studies have shown a rapid increase in the numbers of old people in society, and, as a result of this fact, the numbers of senior citizens accommodated in old people´s homes have grown, too. It is essential to improve the quality of provided services in these institutions so that senior citizens get the opportunity to develop leisure time activities in compliance with their interests, to be engaged in these activities in accordance with their abilities and, finally, not to lose the sense of a meaningful life. One of the options how to achieve the above goals, at least partially, is the individual approach of the staff as well as well-designed activations programmes, which will increase the quality of life of clients. The objective of my work has been to monitor the activation options in selected institutions of the Tábor Region in the Old People´s Home Tep based in Veselí nad Lužnící and in the Senior Home located in Soběslav. The qualitative research approach was selected. The first method used was the SWOT analysis describing strong and weak sides, opportunities and risks of activation programmes in these institutions. A partial goal consisted in comparing the offered activities with the individual clients´ interests and achieved rate of satisfaction. For comparison purposes the method of semi-controlled interviews with clients and staff was applied. 20 clients and 5 staff members from each institution were selected by random choice. The research results suggest that the objectives of my baccalaureate work have been fulfilled. The research has shown that a suitable selection of an activation programme based on the individual needs and wishes of the clients results in the feeling of happiness, satisfaction and a meaningful life. At the same time, the physical and psychic condition of the client can be improved. The results of my baccalaureate work provide a more detailed information and survey on activation programmes rendered in accommodation institutions for senior citizens. They can also serve as a feedback for the needs of staff in these institutions in terms of the evaluation of the satisfaction of clients with offered activities.
TRAINING MEMORY OF SENIORS
FORMÁNKOVÁ, Petra
My graduation thesis focuses on training memory with senior citizens. The main aim of this work is to define methods, techniques and benefits of memory training for senior citizens. The first aim was to investigate if there was some memory training (i.e. which forms were applied, how often, what kind of education the persons conducting this form of activation had achieved) in rest homes in Strakonice District. The second aim was to find out how beneficial the memory training was from the point of view of senior people as well as from the point of view of workers carrying out memory training in old people's homes. The research was done in the Rest Home for Seniors in Blatná, in the Home of Restful Old Age of St. Anna in Sousedovice, in the Home for Seniors in Strakonice - Jezárky, in the Home for Seniors in Strakonice - Lidická and In the Home for Seniors in Vodňany. To get the necessary information I have chosen a semi-controlled interview, i.e. qualitative research. The research group consisted of 32 seniors participating in memory training courses and the other one of 7 memory trainers conducting memory training sessions in the homes for seniors in Strakonice District. The results of the research have been processed in the form of a case study.

Nursing process in seniors suffering from pain
HÁKOVÁ, Eva
Abstract Ageing is an irreversible and nonrecurring biological process. Old age is the final stage of life. It is characterized by involutional and mental changes. Ageing has a significent impact on the social status of a person. The typical attribute of old age is polymorbidity. The aged often suffer from chronic ailment that go together with pains. Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage. Nociception is the physiological event that is accompanied by pain. Nonpharmaceutical therapies affect human mind and thus help to ease pain. These techniques enhance the quality of life and make life more comfortable. The aim of my thesis was to make a survey of nonpharmaceutical inhibition of perception of pain at the nursing process in seniors staying at retirement homes or nursing homes. Using a method of questionnaires as a quantitative research, I focused on the question of using alternative, nonpharmaceutical method of pain management after the previous assessment of a patient´s condition. To different medical care facilities, 120 questionnaires were handed out. The 85 questionnaires that were filled in correctly were used for evaluation . The respondents were selected at random {--} 41 nurses from homes for seniors and 44 nurses working in long-term care facilities. From the Hvizdal retirement home I received only 13 questionnares I could assess and from the Maj retirement home only 16 nurses handed in the questionnaires filled in correctly. I was given 12 correctly filled questionnaires from the retirement home in Jicin and 28 from the Gerontcentre in Hostinne. The total number of 85 correctly filled questionnaires is completed by those 16 from nurses working in the long-term care facility in Lomnice nad Popelkou. The objective of my thesis has been achieved. The hypothesis H I {--} nurses working with seniors in medical care facilites use nonpharmaceutical therapies after the previous assessment of a patient´s condition {--} was confirmed. The hypothesis H II {--} nurses use nonphamaceutical therapies without the previous assessment of a patient´s condition {--}was not confirmed.
The theory and an experience pastoral care of seniors
VLNATÁ, Markéta
This diploma work deals with the pastoral care of seniors in Czech Republic. It is divided into two parts {--} theoretical and practical one. I try to explain the conception of pastoral care in the first part of this work by using different opinions of several authors and then I also describe various stories of seniors´ life. In the end of this part there is also a refer to the usefulness of older generation and clues on how to keep ourselves in repair even in advanced years. I proof or refutate two hypotheses in practice in the second part {--} the first one is about bigger extention of pastoral care in houses established by the church and the second one about bigger seniors´ interest in pastoral care in houses established by the church.
