Pre-Hospital Urgent Care of Injured Motorcyclists at Traffic Accidents
SEIDL, Miroslav
Currently every day a great number of traffic accidents happens in our roads. Some accidents are followed by very serious injuries, which must be treated quickly and right. Recently many motorcyclists have been in this group of the seriously wounded and this number is still increasing. At the scene of the accident paramedics shall give the right and fast first aid mostly to a young person and they often decide on his/her life, eventually on its next quality. Paramedics must it be able to take off a protective helmet in the right way, stabilize patient´s essential vital functions and diagnose eventual shock or polytrauma. However not all the injuries can be diagnosed by paramedics with the available equipment at the scene of the accident. A good result is guaranteed in the increasing tendency of this accident rate first of all with paramedics continuous training at this specific problems. The aim of the bachelor thesis is an analysis of pre-hospital urgent care of injured motorcyclists at traffic accidents and set standard for treatment of these casualties by paramedics. The sample of respondents is represented by staff members of Health Rescue Service of South Bohemian Region and staff members of the Traumatological department of the Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. The data collection was performed by the methods of questioning, guided conversation and secondary data analysis. The research was performed in March 2010. Pursuant to the performed research the following hypotheses have been determined and the standard for treatment of an injured motorcyclist by paramedics has been created. Hypothesis 1: Paramedics use immobilizing tools in case of an injured motorcyclist in the right way. Hypothesis 2: Paramedics cannot take off the protective helmet in case of an injured motorcyclist in the right way.
The use of immobilization tools in urgent prehospital situations
KOSTKOVÁ, Lucie
The topic of the thesis ``The Use of Immobilisation Aids in Pre-Hospital Urgent Care{\crqq} was chosen for my own interest in these problems. Immobilisation aids are very important for the work of a paramedic. The aim of the thesis was to map the use of immobilisation aids during the action of South Bohemian Region{\crq}s Health Rescue Service. Two hypotheses were stated for the research. Hypothesis 1, that the most used aid is a stretcher, was proved. The results are shown in Graphs 16 and 14. 62 % of informants marked a stretcher (21 times and more in a month) as the most used aid. A stretcher is used at indications of polytrauma (68), perforating injury of abdomen (63), chest trauma (65), and spine injury (54). Finally, as shown in Graph 20, the paramedics would use a stretcher for the transport from hardly accessible terrain. Hypothesis 2, that paramedics use the scoop-frame the least, was also proved, as the results show in Graph 8 where the frequency of scoop-frame use was marked the answer 0-3 times a month the most, which was 87 (91 %). The results of the research point at the frequency of immobilisation aids use in South Bohemian Region, experience of paramedics with various aids for the purpose of immobilisation and their theoretical knowledge needed for the right use of a particular aid. We cannot omit practical experience which are very valuable and which have shown that the paramedics with long-term practice have more experience with immobilisation aids than the paramedics with short-term practice. I would like to draw the attention to the education of paramedics during the exercise of their professions. During the research I encountered a very interesting result. In Graph 1 the results show when the paramedics became familiar with immobilisation aids: 39 (41%) during studies and 8 (8%) during training for Health Rescue Service. I think that the solution could be the introduction of regular training concerning immobilisation aids, their adjusting and use at Health Rescue Service. The results of my thesis might be used in the area of ambulance equipment with immobilisation aids and mainly in the area of extension of compulsory equipment. Further, they might be used to educate students of medical branches at universities.
The integration parents and close relatives to nursing proces for children with polytrauma
ŠIMKOVÁ, Zuzana
My bachelor thesis focuses on serious injuries {--} polytrauma. This is a medical term describing the condition of a person who has received multiple traumatic injuries which endanger life. The Czech Republic belongs to countries with the highest children´s death rate because of injuries. Injuries are serious medical, economic and social issues in the world. It is the third most common cause of death in the whole population. In spite of the fact that mortality caused by injuries is tending to decrease, the number of injuries is increasing. According to the statistics the places where injuries happen most often are at home and at school. The most serious injuries as associated with motor vehicle accidents. My bachelor thesis is divided into practical and theoretical parts. In the practical part I used my own research for data that were processed by working with casualties. The research was undertaken in České Budějovice hospital a.s., in the children´s ward.
Post-operative self-sufficiency monitoring of a polytraumatic patient
STRAKOVÁ, Lucie
The therapy of patients with polytrauma takes a lot of time. Associated complications can often occur. In the course of recovery after numerous operations is dramatically limited the dynamics of patient, his survivability capacity to shift for oneself is low. In this period is very important to be engaged in the regularly self-sufficiency training, every day activities, fitnessand breathing exercises. The well-timed post-operative mobilisation and a self-sufficiency training help to improve a general health conditition. It is necessary to support motivation and self-confidence of patient.
