Historic greenhouse in castle grounds Konopiště
Nohejlová, Kristýna ; Česká, Jana (advisor) ; Martin, Martin (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is an inventory of all plant kinds in a historical green house Konopiste. It is known that there are over 200 different kinds of plants currently growing in that place. The exact number cannot be listed and stated, because it is still moving and varies. There are some plants that are still growing at one place in a soil for many years. One of the examples is Phoenix canariensis, which dominates the whole green house. The majority of plants are grown there in planters. That enables their easy manipulation within the whole green house. The inventory of all kinds of plants took place between March 2015 and February 2016. Each plant has been noted down according to its station. The first chapter deals not only with the history of the castle itself, but is also described together with the history of the green house and its surrounding areas. Unfortunately there has been only a limited amount of resources available to study for me and to use. Therefore my description does not go into deep details. In this chapter, I therefore describe some technical achievements and economical parameter and measures. They show how the green house has been heated in those days and describe the details of pluming. There is also a short description of a mechanism which opened the windows in order to cause air flow circulation. The main was Encyclopedia of garden plants by Christopher Brickell. The Latin names of individual kinds were flowingly sorted using the websites ipni.org. The fifth chapter is dedicated to the inventory. Each green house section has its own general description, from which, there has been lately chosen a sample of the most interesting plants. Their characteristics were then described, using those specialized books. The final inventory of green houses is than shown in additional tables. The sixth chapter includes and deals with recommendations of the writer. The writer suggested a better marking, using a good quality materials and labels. (Steel and enamel) Another suggestion, which the writer made, was to follow the inventory stock take, but some of the plants should be repositioned. The ones, that were not in blossom, or were not grown up enough, in order to mark their characteristics. In an attachment there are the photographs of the castle, together with the Rose garden and its green house. Other photographs show some interesting, or rare plants. They may have unusual shape, or a beautiful loom.

Assessment of current status, historical research and design of reconstruction of selected parts of the park at Research Institute of Crop Production in Prague
Vopičková, Lucie ; Kunt, Miroslav (advisor) ; Miroslav, Miroslav (referee)
The goal of the presented diploma thesis is to propose a reconstruction of a selected part of the Research Institute of Crop Production (RICP) in Prague (Czech Republic). The proposition is based on an evaluation of the current state as well as on a historical investigation of the studied area. The 5ha compound of the RICP is situated at the territory of Prague, the Capital City in the Prague 6 - Ruzyně quarter. The complex is from three sides surrounded by fields. Inside, it includes a decorative garden, which was founded in 30ies of the 20th century. At that time, the function of such garden was of a pure educational purpose - it was used as visual aids for students of the Provincial Pomological Institute that had been located there. This exact utilization lies behind the important amount of rare decorative woody plants that we still find there. The premises are currently in a good state. More than half of woody plants rank among the most valuable and very valuable ones. Nowadays, the area of the RICP is not accessible for the public so that the garden can be used only be the employees of the institute. Based on source data, a proposition of the reconstruction of the central part, which includes the main building and its surrounding decorative garden, has been created. Even if this part should be the most representative of the RICP, the related (required) atmosphere is not currently reached. This is the reason why a reconstruction has been proposed - to increase the actual level of the studied area and to restore its original function. The main idea consists in preservation of the current vegetation cover and in restoration or addition of some technical elements, which are nowadays not satisfactory. This includes mainly: path surfaces, pergola, benches, waste bins and lamps. An extra enrichment of the free grass area, situated in the central part of the garden and visible from the entrance to the building, is also dealt with. In addition, the diploma thesis provides a photographical documentation of the current state of the studied area, inventory tables and graphical supplements of the reconstruction project as well as the inventory plans of the whole area.

KOLOUCHOVÁ, Jana
The presented thesis deals with the phenomenon of death in the second half of the 19th century using the area around the Cheb town as an example. The source base is made up by information from Christian registers of deaths, prescriptive regulations and tangible evidences. As a main methodological basis the Historical Demography was chosen, but the other approaches were used as a Historical Anthropology and Art History. The most important emphasis was oriented on getting results from statistical research. The index of death issues was researched from several circumstances. Not only the data on approximate life expectancy, infant mortality and seasonal movement was reached, but also the analysis of the causes of death was made with the respect of its German terms. The attention was oriented on infectious diseases, with which the society of the second half of 19th century was afflicted too. The question of spread of epidemics is given into the wider context in the subsequent chapter, which is devoted to influence to prevent the gradual lengthening of life expectancy. The attention was devoted to the analysis of preserved tombstones from the 2nd half of 19th century on the base of fieldwork. The artifacts were assessed from the point of view of artistic representation. The epitaphs were recorded as well for the identification of specific persons. The conclusion of this topic was the thought of vandalism of modern time and the importance of preservation of the testimonial of funeral culture as a proof of high art. The main aim of presented thesis is not only to find out what were the mortality situations of the monitored period, but also the changes of funeral rite influenced by emancipation of bourgeois society. The connection with early modern period tradition of colossal noble funeral ceremony was pointed out. The shift of attention from the deceased to the bereaved was substantiated on the analysis of the preserved tombstones from the second half of 19th century and from the parsing of the funeral announcements in the regional press. The complexity was amplified by the study of lives of the two generations of sculptors from Cheb, who influenced unchangeably the appearance of the local cemetery. Thanks to the language analysis of the term ?the Death? presented on the pages of Glossaries from that time and by the excursion into the folk?s habits connected with the end of life journey of rural population, the issues of Death and funeral ritual were studied from multiple perspectives. For obtaining the complete view, there was necessary to work not only with results of statistics, but also to consider the interdisciplinary approach.
