Further Education in Social Services
ŘEHÁKOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor's thesis deals with further education in social services. The theoretical part describes social work, its types, forms and it explains the concept of quality in social services in relation to the standards of social services. It also includes a sub-chapter that deals with the financing of social services. The concept of continuing education in social services is mentioned in the theoretical part as well as a professional development and also there is a sub-chapter that explains the accreditation of educational institutions and accreditation of educational programs. The aim of the study was to determine the most commonly used forms of further education applied in social services as well as the most beneficial forms of continuing education for social workers and social service workers and a dependence of funding of various forms of continuing education by providers of social services. The results, obtained from a mixed research for mapping this issue more broadly, are described in the practical part. At first a qualitative research was realized by using semi-structured interview with senior staff in selected social service facilities. In order to process the issue more broadly a quantitative research survey was carried out and was based on email answers from executives of facilities listed in the registry of social service providers from across the country. The results from the mixed research provided not only answers to the research questions but also contributed to meeting the determined targets. The thesis should serve the increase of the awareness in the field of further education of social workers and workers in social services and also could possibly serve as a base for further research.
Ideas of Social Work Students about Future Profession
MACKOVÁ, Lenka
The present thesis is concerned with the ideas that social work students have of their future profession. The theoretical part defines and characterizes social work, its mission, objectives and methods. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the history of education of social workers in the Czech Republic, where it examines in detail the beginnings of this type of education, areas of work of social workers and the development of social work in connection with education from the World War Two to the present. The following chapter is engaged in the education system regarding social work at present. The last chapter looks at social work as a profession. This chapter further depicts and defines ancillary professions, identifying areas of self-realisation of graduates from social work studies, and finally, it describes ethics in social work. The objective of our thesis is to ascertain the ideas of social work students of their future profession, for example, the thesis identifies the kind of workplaces such students would prefer to work at, the target group they would be interested in, and, in point of fact, if such students want to find thein jobs within the field of their study. The practical part uses the quantitative research method, which was conducted by means of a questionnaire technique. The research group consisted of social work students at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies and Theological Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The research based on questionnaires was carried out both in Bachelor's and Master's study programmes. Only full-time students participated in the research. Pre-research was conducted before the research per se. The following hypothesis was set forth: ,,Students of social work want to work within their field of study." The above hypothesis was tested statistically by means of non-parametric testing in the SPSS programme. McNemar's test was used, which proved that the values ,,he/she wants to work within their field of study" and ,,he/she does not want to work within their field of study" do not show significant mutual differences and their probability is the same. Based on the test, a sufficient difference was identified between the resulting signification at the significance level of 0,5; accordingly, the zero hypothesis ,,Students of social work do not want to work within their field of study" was declined, and the hypothesis set forth was confirmed. The findings imply that students have different plans as to their future professions. In particular, this regards workplaces and target groups with which students would like to work, and the query if students want to work within their field of study. For most part, students want to work in the state administration, in nongovernmental non-profit organizations, and chiefly with children. In addition, a part of students emerged that do not wish to find their jobs within the discipline they currently study. Other considerable differences were identified in particular categories that were examined regarding the aspect of student's willingness or unwillingness to work as social workers, the reasons why they want or do not want to work within thein fields of study, practice in the social area (outside their school practice), search for a job during studies, and the key activities of social workers. These differences are further described in the discussion part. The conclusion gives a description of the research findings and assesses the complex problems of ideas that social work students have as regards their future profession; in particular, the problematic self-realisation of this group in the employment market. The author outlines possible solutions to these problems. Moreover, other issues related to the theme discussed are considered. Options of possible utilization of the present thesis are delineated towards the end of the thesis.

The Ethical Dilemma of Social Service Employees Working with Senior Citizens
HRUŠKOVÁ, Veronika
The subject of the bachelor thesis is Ethical dilemmas of employees in social services when working with seniors. The work is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on social services, and describes what social services are, who receives them and what their principles are. It also defines who a social services employee is and the prerequisites and principles for social services employees. The chapter additionally lists the behavioral principles when dealing with clients and problems which may occur when working with seniors. The second chapter targets ethics and dilemmas which arise in social work. It addresses questions such as what are ethics and morality, what are ethical principles and what is the ethical code. Furthermore, it describes ethical dilemmas, how to handle them and their possible consequences. Last but not least, it also mentions the burnout syndrome, which is a significant component of every exacting profession and needs to be taken into account so that one may avoid it. The third, last chapter focuses on psychological hygiene, i.e. means of relaxing and resting. Psychological hygiene is essential, and the same goes for professional and regular supervision at the workplace, both of which can prevent the burnout syndrome. The goal of the work was to map the methods used by social services employees for solving ethical dilemmas arising from their work with seniors. To obtain the necessary information, we used a qualitative study via a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The primary research question was: "How do social services employees approach ethical dilemmas which arise during their work with seniors, and what affects their subsequent behavior?" To answer the primary research question, we designated three partial research questions with subsequent sub-questions, which were answered by respondents during an interview. The research sample comprised four social services employees at the G-centrum Tábor retirement home, specifically two women and two men. Respondents were selected by a targeted selection. The research uncovered the most frequent dilemmas the employees faced and had to resolve. These dilemmas were not only related to their clients, but also often to their family members, who are sometimes intertwined with the arising ethical dilemmas. This makes resolving such problems even more difficult. Respondents claimed that they do their best to follow professional conduct and to prevent damage or harm to their clients, ensuring that the clients continue to trust them. Their practice and years of experience help significantly in this regard. Of course, solution of arising dilemmas also relies on their common sense and good intuition, which they say is often correct. They are aware that their decisions are influenced by several factors, ranging from physical ones such as tiredness and exhaustion to psychological ones such as stress, mood and others. Still, they do their best to ensure that their judgment is not impaired and that the situation is resolved to the client's satisfaction. Each of them relies on some form of relaxation, which allows them to charge-up and takes their minds off stressful situations at work. These included biking, hiking, reading books or spending time with their grandchildren. It is important to know how to relax. Respondents agreed that they have ample time for psychological relaxation. The only thing they complained about was supervision at their workplace. Although proper supervision is a tool/component of psychological hygiene, the employees did not regard it highly. It would likely be a good idea to improve this area at the facility. This bachelor thesis could serve as an informative document for students at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia, for management of the G-centrum Tábor retirement home, and also for the general public.

The Social Services Staff Access to the Supervision.
ŘÍHOVÁ, Štěpánka
The bachelor thesis is focused on the attitude of social service workers to supervision. The objective of the thesis is to determine the attitude of social service workers to supervision. A partial goal of the work is to determine the benefit of supervision for social service workers. I focused on their experience and evaluation of the attitudes towards the supervision, and also on their reaction to stressful situations and also on how they try to prevent the burnout syndrome. In the theoretical part I focused on three basic chapters: social services and standards of quality, supervision and the burnout syndrome. In the practical part, in the qualitative research I chose ten workers in direct service from the Care House of Mistr Jan Křišťan in the town of Prachatice. I set one main research question:? What is the attitude of social service workers to supervision?? and four partial research questions. I applied the method of qualitative research with the technique of semi-structured interview. The results are assessed in tables. The results revealed that the attitude of social service workers is in nine cases out of ten positive. They see the benefit of supervision in the opportunity to meet together in a pleasant and safe environment and in the opportunity to talk undisturbed about difficult and painful situations coming continuously during the performance of this profession. Supervision for them also means a significant contribution in delivering hope, expression of empathy and respect from the supervisor for their hard work done. The results of the bachelor thesis could be a source of information about supervision, its contribution, development and provision in social services in the region of Prachatice. The thesis could be used not only by social service workers but also by the workers in educational and medical facilities. The thesis could be used for all helping professions.
Differences in comunication with father with different degree dependences on care other persons in Home for seniors in Milevsko
JAROŠOVÁ, Jana
An importance of the communication with seniors is often neglected. I chose this topic for my bachelor thesis to draw an attention to its importance. The communication is one of the most important life necessities. By communicating we become a part of a society. An interpersonal communication is present at each meeting of two or more people. It is impossible to get by it and especially helping professions should have it in mind. It is inconceivable that the care could take place without any communication. Taking care of a user, the nursing staff cannot do with common communication ways they use every day. That is why it is necessary for them to learn how to communicate professionally. By talking with a senior, we can inform him/her about just ongoing activities, but we can also obtain information, encourage and motivate him/her etc. The quality of the provided care does not manifest itself only by using the latest technologies and materials, but also by the ability, how the staff can communicate with users. The ability of the nursing staff to make a contact, to hold a conversation in a qualified way and to gain a confidence is almost a rarity in present hectic times. The communication is an important part of the life for all of us, it accompanies us already from the birth and especially the seniors need to have a possibility to speak with somebody, to tell him about his/her feelings. The bachelor thesis has been focused on the issues of the communication with seniors. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether there are differences in the communication with seniors with various degrees of dependences on another person´s care. The theoretical part defines concepts as a communication and its types ? verbal, nonverbal and paralinguistic, an old age and a senior, seniors´ home and specifics of the communication with the senior. The practical part deals with a research survey. The research sample consisted of the staff and seniors from the Seniors´ Home Milevsko. The data collection technique was an observation and interviews. Everything was carried out with an approval of the organization management. Interviews were conducted independently and with different employees. The observation was carried out secretly at chosen seniors. In the practical part there are recorded important information from the interviews with the staff and the findings from the observation. The most significant answers to the questions are indicated in an authentic wording and highlighted in italics. Results of the research in the bachelor thesis inform about differences in the communication with the seniors. It was found out that it comes to an infantilization of seniors; the used method of the communication is similar to conversations with small children. The staff talks about the senior as about the third person during a care of a badly speaking user, they do not pay a necessary attention to harmonizing of their verbal and nonverbal expressions. It often leads to a stigmatization of the users ? they classify seniors into certain groups. The bachelor thesis can be used for improving the communication between the staff and users of the seniors´ home.
Education and professional growth of social sphere workers
RADOSTOVÁ, Iva
The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part are mapped requirements that are imposed on workers in the social sphere, legislation that governs these requirements, training opportunities and motivation for further education and professional growth. The empirical part contains the results of a survey that focuses on access to social workers in the Jindřichův Hradec to acquire new knowledge and awareness. Further searches for their views on opportunities for further education, its adequacy and interest. Another aim was to motivate these workers to lifelong learning, whether their employers are interested in improving skills and training to create the right conditions.
Social services professional and his role in the senior care in the rest homes
TROCHOVÁ, Daniela
Bachelor labour is focused on the person of the social services professional in the rest home and his role in the care of the pensioner. Objective of the theoretical part of this labour should define general and also concrete scope of the employment of the these stuffs, their qualificiation, education and also the labour service in connection with the surrounding and the target group. There are also mentioned the personal premises and general disposals, which are one of the main criteria for helping professions. Practical part of this labour shows the results of the self-made research, realized through the anonymous questionnaires. This quantitative way of the data collection should discover, if the hard intensity of the helping profession, concretely the social service professional, could have some relation with the qualification and the personal premises of this helping person. Output from this part should specify the factors, which could be perceived by the social services professionals, in dependence on their deficient qualification, education and the personal qualities, as a potential source of the hardness of this profession.
