New synagogue Česká Lípa
Aulisa, Marco ; Velek, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The new synagogue Česká Lípa, which is the subject of this diploma thesis, symbolizes a new beginning for the Jewish community in Česká Lípa. In addition to the synagogue itself, the building includes the administration of the Jewish community with private and public parts and a kosher restaurant for members of the Jewish community and the general public. An integral part of the synagogue is the Mikveh cleansing spa and the Holocaust memorial. The concept location of the synagogue and the monument has a strong connection with the original locations of the burned synagogues. Very important for the Jewish community is the spread of enlightenment, which will prevent current misinformation, both in the field of Jewish religion and in general, everyday topics depressing our society. The building of the synagogue is located in a very inhospitable area. It is necessary to prevent the ingress of noise from the adjacent road and to deal with the incomplete urban environment. Last but not least, the outdoor part of the building needs to be made so that it can be separated from the surrounding area, but at the same time it invites visitors to the center of the building. This is achieved by placing the building on an elevated pedestal. The mass of the building is divided into three basic functions and is supplemented by atriums, which visually connect the individual floors and support the natural air circulation for better cooling of the building in the summer months. To provide a more natural environment, the building is complemented by trees. The facade of the building is designed in a grid of pillars, which give the building a dignified character and at the same time break the long empty walls on the facade. Between the pillars there is a facade cladding. The entire facade system is painted in white.

The assignment was the design of a new synagogue, premises for a Kosher restaurant and a Jewish community building. All functions are the subject of a solution on a relatively small built-up area in the place of the original burned Jihlava synagogue. Řeháková, Karolína ; Velek, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The main target of my diploma thesis is a new synanogue for Jewish village in Olomouc, which is suggested to the place of the original synagogue that was burnt down in the year 1939. The requirement of the assignment for the new synagogue and also a connected seat for the Jewish village in Olomouc with connected operations a place for museum of Jewish cultures. The Jewish village in Olomouc is of rather closed character. The target was to created a complex with connection of areas closed to the village members and opened for the public. Based on the ideas, a complex of three buildings was established and their mapping out suits perfectly to the basic principle. The objects in the area are situated in order to their basic function can be supported. The synagogue together with the Jewish village are very closely directed into calmer, easwest part of the area. Against to this place is a muzeum, designed by the street tř. Svobody, which is also very frequented pedestrian connecting line. From this chosen mapping builds a public area with connection to a park. The complex include a kosher restaurant, administrative place, library, ritual bath mikve and private morespaced area for the village activities.
New synagogue Jablonec nad Nisou
Obadalová, Kateřina ; Vostrejž, Dušan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The main goal of the thesis was to design a synagogue in Jablonec nad Nisou with additional functions in the form of administration, a kosher restaurant, and a museum. The site of the former synagogue, which served its purpose until 1938 when it was burned down during Kristallnacht, is now only marked by a memorial. The site is located between the historic part of the town, on a sloping terrain. The concept was to preserve the slope of the terrain and to insert a building that would meet the needs of the Jewish community and also blend in with the surrounding buildings and movement of people in the area. A vertical division of the site was proposed with a staircase providing access to the synagogue and kosher restaurant, as well as the adjacent glass and jewelry museum. A four-story building (a museum, administration of the Jewish community, and a community center with a mikveh) complements the existing street buildings and aims to visually correspond to them in a modern way. This building also connects to the synagogue, which is visually embedded in the terrain, and the kosher restaurant. A ramp for the disabled people horizontally divides the site. The facade was designed with a simple scraped plaster in combination with a smooth plaster. The kosher restaurant is visually separated as a cube using bronze-colored stainless steel mesh. New greenery and green areas were proposed in the surrounding area, which then connect to the green roofs of the buildings.
New synagogue Jablonec nad Nisou
Porubčanová, Zuzana ; Velek, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis was the development of the design of the New Synagogue in Jablonec nad Nisou in the form of an architectural study. The assignment was the design of a new synagogue together with spaces for a kosher restaurant, administration, library, the possibility of designing a Jewish museum, or space for a small Sunday school. The overall design takes place on a relatively small built-up area. The idea behind the concept was an effort to restore the dialogue between private and public (openness vs. closedness of the Jewish community), interconnection of individual functions and the creation of a functional unit for the needs of the Jewish community, which, however, also communicates with the public. In addition to the newly designed synagogue, the complex includes a community center, a museum of Jewish culture, a kosher restaurant, the administration of the Jewish community, a library, a social and educational room, a kosher grocery store and also a mikveh ritual bath. The concept is divided into four separate buildings that are interconnected in the underground floor. All four objects are linked to each other not only thanks to the functions they represent, but also by their very location on the plot. They partially copy the curvature of the plot and, by their placement in the terrain, they come closer to the water flow of the local river, which borders the entire planned territory on the southern side.
New synagogue Česká Lípa
Tomický, Ondřej ; Velek, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of my diploma thesis is the design of a new synagogue and a Jewish community centre in a town Česká Lípa. The area in question is located on the street U Synagogy, on the south-eastern edge of the historic city centre, on the site where the Jewish town was located in the past. However, the long history of the Jewish community of Česká Lípa, which had its synagogue, Jewish school, rabbinate, mikveh ritual bath and others, was interrupted by the events of the Second World War and the subsequent post-war developments in Czechoslovakia and the world. The original synagogue was burned down by the Nazis in 1938, and many of the monuments of the Jewish community in Česká Lípa gradually disappeared, as did the community itself. My goal is to design a new facility for the Jewish community. Therefore, I designed a proposal for a new synagogue and a community centre, including the administration of the Jewish community with an archive of Jewish literature, exhibition, and lecture spaces, the new mikveh ritual bath and kosher restaurant for members of the community and the general public. The design also includes the overall revitalization of the public space and its pedestrian accessibility, the planting of new greenery and the placement of two new monuments to commemorate the Jewish past of Česká Lípa. The designed project should than serve not only members of the Jewish community, but the whole general public as a new public space that will offer new opportunities for socialization, education, and leisure in a more dignified environment. The defining element of the proposal is the site of the former synagogue, which will become a courtyard that will be surrounded on the three sides by the new synagogue and community centre. Both buildings face the city centre with their main facades and main entrances. Both the synagogue and the community centre will be situated on a raised terrace accessible by a staircase, symbolizing the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The chosen morphology and material design of the buildings intend to evoke the sense of massiveness, stability, dignity, and safety to the passers-by. Two new monuments will be placed on an axis of the new courtyard – the column and the fountain. The column on the place of the former entrance to the former synagogue symbolizing a raised-up finger in warning. The fountain on the spot of the bema, a sacred place where no one except for the rabbi is allowed. The water will symbolically prevent the movement of pedestrians who will have to go around this former sacred place. Nowadays, there is a public parking lot on the site of the former synagogue, and the entire area of the former Jewish town is in a state of neglect. I sincerely hope that with my proposal I will contribute to the commemoration of the Jewish past of Česká Lípa, to understanding among the people and that the nowadays neglected area will become a dignified public space.
