Waste building materials to base layers of the pavements
Žďára, Zbyněk ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, there is processed information about recycled construction waste and their possible use in road construction in the form of research. The individual chapters deal with the description of these materials, their production, their use in base layers of the pavement and attention is also paid to their problematic features and foreign experience. In the practical part, laboratory samples of recycled asphalt pavement and recycled aggregates were tested. The main purpose was to find out if it was possible to use a mixture of recycled asphalt pavement and recycled aggregates in the base layers of the pavement with a low traffic load. Another purpose was to compare the properties of mixtures with different content of both recycled materials and to see how the bearing capacity of these mixtures changes when an elevated temperature is applied to them.
Mixed builging recycled material for pavement subgrades
Masař, Daniel ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The Bachelor thesis is focused on the use of mixed building recycled material for pavement subgrades. The theoretical part describes the production and usability of recycled building materials and also the economic evaluation against commonly used natural materials. The main point of the theoretical part is the use of mixed recycled material in the subsoil of roads with increased attention to the use in the active zone of road. It also describes laboratory tests that are important for evaluating the qualities of recycled materials and problematic qualities that can affect the life of a construction work. In a separate chapter, it presents foreign experience with the use of recycled building materials for building transport structures. The practical part verifies the suitability of mixed building recycled material to the active zone of road by tests of the California bearing ratio, soil freezing rate and crushing resistance by Los Angeles.
The Use of Alternative Sources in the Building Industry
Dvořák, Jakub ; Vymazal, Tomáš (referee) ; Žižková, Nikol (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the use of waste as alternative raw materials in construction industry. The first part is dedicated to the historical development of waste management, to the valid legislation in the Czech Republic in 2017 and outlines the distribution of waste according to various criteria. The information about waste production and waste management is processed in the form of tables and graphs. The more extensive second part of the thesis uses theoretical knowledge in the field of waste management and on the base of the Waste Separation Catalog is composed a list of waste materials which can be used in construction industry. Further are described the possibilities of suitable waste utilization at production and also mentioned some particular construction products with their features.
Waste management - SUBTERRA
Pokorná, Alice ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Tonika, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor work is focused on the waste management of major company implementing in the field of construction work. The teoretical part is addressed in legislation dealing with issue in the Czech republic and the general issue of construction waste. In the practical section provides specific procedures especially as Subterra followed in practice their program works and on which it is implemented. I've explored waste management in practice, not only by legislation. It can be concluded that the company proceed with the implementation of their projects in accordance with the law.
The Use of Asbestos, Remediation of Contaminated Areas and the Risk of Impact on the Human Organism
Štípek, Radek ; Bendl, Jiří (advisor) ; Mihaljevič, Martin (referee)
The work deals with the uses of asbestos minerals, methods of safe disposal of asbestos and the disease burden caused by exposure to asbestos fibers, of which the most dangerous is crocidolite. Attention is paid to the physical-chemical and structural properties, classification and explanation of the processes of their formation, indicating areas of the Czech Republic and abroad. Describes the history of asbestos use since ancient times to the 20th century, including mass balance asbestos consumed in the technosphere that over the past hundred years, amounts to almost 194 million tons. It then focuses on building fire protection, insulation and other products with different content of asbestos in the world which total over 3000 and registered on the characteristics of asbestos substitute materials, such as ceramic, glass and carbon fibers, aramids, wollastonite, vermiculite and perlite. Describes methods for determination of asbestos fibers in the air, water and soil as a complete course of rehabilitation of contaminated objects. Asbestos fibers pose a risk to human health in the form of asbestosis, first diagnosed in 1900, pleural hyalinosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma of the pleura, where the first evidence of association with exposure to asbestos dates back to 1955 and on the basis of which...

For these purposes the representative brownfield is created and it is set in different environment. In conclusion all important findings are summarized.
Subsidy Support of the Sustainable Waste Management
BEDNÁŘOVÁ, Renata
The subject of the dissertation is the issue of the waste management with special emphasis on the recycling of the construction and demolition waste. The recourse is an analysis of the key instruments regulating the activities and behaviour of market operators in this field toward fulfilling all-society priorities and principles of the sustainable development, where special accent is put on the area of subsidy policies and programmes. The aim of the dissertation is to analyse and evaluate the setting of the selected subsidy programme in terms of economic and ecological efficiency with the emphasis on the assessment of the impact on the recipient. The subject of the research will be a priority axis 4 "Improvement of Waste Management and Removal of Old Environmental Burdens" within the Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013. In the literature review basic concepts and important definitions are defined, followed by the comprehensive and complex searches of the problematics from different angles of view. First of all, the global aspect of environmental protection is discussed, broader historical, legal, economic and political contexts, that are essential fundament for understanding the current and future challenges both globally regionally, are summarized. Hereafter, a more detailed description of the situation of the European Union is followed, then the overview is completed by a detailed view at the state of the problematics in the Czech Republic. Subsequent chapters are devoted to a detailed analysis of the waste management sector, again in terms of global, European and national standpoint, in the end the view is focused on the key issue of the dissertation problematics of construction and demolition waste. In the application part the fulfilling of the stated objective of the dissertation through four defined hypothesis is solved. Hypotheses verify the efficiency and appropriateness of the setting of the system of subsidies in the frame of the monitored programme. The emphasis is imposed on the assessment of the impact of the allocated subsidies to the private entities on their economic and environmental efficiency.
