Proceedings from the 11th Europaen Conference on Integrated Optics ECIO'03 held in Praque on 2-4 April 2003 bringsa full texts of most of invited lectures and tutorials and 92 contributed papers that were accepted for presentation after a thorough review procedure.
Optimizing geometry of ring microresonators with respect to bending losses
Hubálek, Milan ; Čtyroký, Jiří ; Prkna, Ladislav
Dependence of key parameters of low-contrast ring miroresonators on cross-section dimensions is studies by numerical simulations. We found that bending losses very critically depend on these dimensions. Very high finese resonators can be designed for optimum choice of waveguide crosssections.
Preparation and properties of pyroelectric detectors for optoelectronic applications /III/
Novotný, Jan ; Zelinka, Jiří ; Podvalová, Zdislava ; Malina, Václav ; Vávra, Vladimír ; Franc, J. ; Fronc, Václav ; Fronc, Václav
The single crystals of TGS doped with Pt-ions and with L-alanine were grown as in ferroelectric phase as the full-shaped crystals. The growth rate along the axis c of the doped crystals is much higher than in an undoped one. Morphology, domain structure and hysteresis loops were investgated. The effect of the dopant on the growth velocity is explained on the basis of catalytic action of platinum complexes. The pyroelectric detectors were prepared from these materials and their parameters are presented.
2003 Program of Development in Metrology. Progress Report on Project M/19/03: Primary metrology of time and frequency
Čermák, Jan ; Buzek, Otokar ; Čemusová, Blanka ; Šojdr, Ludvík
The report brings a summary of the results obtained by The Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics (IREE) in the field of primary time and frequency metrology realizing the M19/03 project of The Metrology Programme of the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing in the first half of 2003.
Modelling of differential line for signal integrity
Žilka, Zdeněk ; Berka, Zbyněk ; Braun, Jaromír
Differential signaling gives high noise immunity, especially for critical signals in highspeed design. Modal decomposition of 3-wire differential transmission line results in two isolated decomposed transmission lines that may be analyzed separately. The overall response of a differential line is then superposition of two modal results.
Simulation of turbo codec
Audrlický, Luděk ; Šimša, Jan
In the contribution the results of simulation of iterative decoding of parallel concatenated convolutionally encoded binary data sequence is presented. The role of the type and the size of interleaver is shortly mentioned. The efficient number of a decoder iterations is evaluated.
Speech spectrum smoothing by cepstrum and pseudo-cepstrum weighting
Plšek, Martin
In the paper an experimental vocal tract model of the 6.sup.th.sup. order excited by a synthetic voiced excitation signal with variable fundamental frequency is used as a testing signal for several cepstral and pseudo-cepstral smoothing approaches. The aim of the investigation is to find a reliable method for speech spectrum smoothing convenient also for female and child voices with high fundamental frequency.
Thickness dependence of transport properties of Bi.sub.2./sub.Te.sub.3./sub. layers
Zeipl, Radek ; Lošťák, P. ; Pavelka, Martin ; Žďánský, Karel ; Jelínek, Miroslav ; Walachová, Jarmila
The transport properties of layers, prepared by laser ablation, as Hall mobility and conductivity on their thickness at room temperature are presented. This thermoelectric materials is potential candidate for many applications as for thermoelectric devices for power generation, cooling and sensors.

Dispersive optical bistability in unidirectional ring cavity
Šrobár, Fedor
The models of dispersive optical bistability in unidirectional ring cavity yield transmitted intensity as a function of input intensity with additional parameters /mirror reflectivity and phase shift/. There is a feedback element in the description: the dependence of the phase shift on the transmitted power. The region of physically unstable states is marked by the condition specifying that the transmission function of the feedback loop present in the representative causal diagram is greater than 1.
