This diploma thesis with the title ?Non-Romani inhabitants of socially excluded ?Romani? localities is divided into two parts: the theoretical and the empiric parts. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals mainly with defining the terms of social exclusion and socially excluded locality. At the same time, it describes the phenomenon of the poverty, underclass and white trash culture and ethnicity. The research part deals with the description of the actual research methodology, interpretation and the presentation of the research investigation results. The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the perception of life in a socially excluded ?Romani? locality, by non-Romani inhabitants. With respect to the aim of the diploma thesis I chose the qualitative research strategy. The qualitative investigation was conducted by the method of questioning. The questioning technique was a semi-structured interview consisting of open questions. The target set consists of twelve respondents living in three excluded localities in the territory of the town of České Budějovice, who do not consider themselves, on the basis of self-identification, as members of the Romani ethnic group. Health and social services offered to residents of socially excluded localities in České Budějovice
SÁDOVSKÁ, Petra
My diploma thesis focuses on finding out what health and social services are provided to the inhabitants of socially excluded localities in České Budějovice. Social exclusion is a process within which the access of individuals, groups of individuals or a community to sources, positions and opportunities enabling the involvement into social, economic and political activities society, is substantially impeded or completely prevented. The seriousness of the situation is illustrated by the fact that the year 2010 was declared the European European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. One of the possibilities to deal with this situation is to provide health and social services, such as field programmes, social counselling, low-threshold services for young people and crisis assistance. My thesis aims at finding out whether health and social services provided to the inhabitants of socially excluded localities in České Budějovice are available, sufficient, oriented in the right direction, and whether they are used. At the beginning of the theoretical part, I made a brief definition of the terms social exclusion and poverty. Further, I described the main problem spheres of socially excluded citizens to which health and social services should react, and I also added a description of the current situation in individual socially excluded localities selected and of the specification of health and social services that the thesis deals with. The end of the theoretical part contains a summary of the theoretical part and subjects for my own research. The objective of my thesis was to survey the availability and sufficiency of services, especially in the health and social services offered to the inhabitants of socially excluded localities in České Budějovice. The defined objective of my thesis was achieved. To achieve it I used in the practical part the qualitative research, questioning method, the semi-controlled interview technique and analysis of the available data. Research was carried out in two selected sets, one of which consisted of inhabitants of chosen socially excluded localities, and of providers of health and social services in České Budějovice. The data obtained may be used by providers of services to consider an extension of these services. Further, it may serve as an output for an expert article or a basis for further research realised in this field.
Monitoring of Selected Socially Excluded Locations in the Town of Plzeň
MARTÍNKOVÁ, Eva
The theoretical part of this thesis defines the process of social exclusion and its elements - spatial, economic, cultural, social, political and symbolic. These interconnected elements give rise to crucial areas that are substantially affected by social exclusions - living conditions, employment or ways of making a living, education and medical condition. The following chapters describe the initial situation in the Plzeň locations in 2006 and the situations in the mentioned areas in relation to excluded individuals. The objective of the thesis presented is to describe the development in seven socially excluded locations in Plzeň including their current situation. A qualitative survey was carried out addressing particularly workers in self-administration and non-governmental non-profit organisations, who come in contact with individuals from socially excluded locations. A method of document analysis by means of content analysis of the data was used along with a questioning method via a dialogue. The situation of socially excluded locations in Plzeň has significantly changed in the last five years, as the location labelled as the most problematic one by all informers perished at the end of 2009 and another location suffered changes as a result of the sale of the property. Maintaining or on the other hand cessation of the described localities considerably depend on the town´s housing policy, since the town of Plzeň owns the houses in all remaining locations. Owing to the increasing indebtedness of the population and growing problems in the housing or employment areas, there is a threat of an origination of new socially excluded locations. This thesis contributed to the evaluation of the development in the situation of socially excluded locations in Plzeň, which can give a base to implementing direct measures resulting in joining the inhabitants of these locations as well as in creating preventive measures.
