Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations on the Part of the Students of General Nursing during Nursing Procedures.
KUŘÍMSKÁ, Yvette
Occupational safety and health is a broad area which makes part of a state policy. The aim of OSH is to make a system of rules protecting students gaining working experience, employees and employers. It endeavours to limit all negative aspects related to work performance or occupation. Observance of OSH rules is an indispensable part of work performance of all medical workers. That also applies to students of the study field General Nurse while performing their practical training, thus practice. Students get acquainted with the OSH issues in the first grade of studying in a subject called treating / caring procedures. Before taking up practical training they should be able to follow the OSH rules and understand consequences linked to their non-observance. The aim of this diploma thesis is to chart how the students of the field General Nurse keep the OSH rules and find out students´ knowledge in this area. The empirical part was carried out in a form of quantitative investigation. A questionnaire was used as a method to collect data and was meant for students of the second and third grades of the General Nurse study field. Results were compiled into graphs. Results of survey confirmed that the students keep the OSH rules. However, in the area of personal hygiene they are considerably irresponsible. Their knowledge concerning OSH is very good and the students are informed well. Based on the results a leaflet has been created and may be used as study or information resource for students of medical fields of study.

Assessment of the Impact of Irregular Work Regime in Healthcare Workers in České Budějovice Hospital, Inc., on Cholesterol Level and Weight
PAVLOVÁ, Martina
Nursing is a very demanding profession requiring not only expertise and erudition, but also a good mental and physical condition. Nurses are not only professionals with their rights and duties, but also persons with their needs (6). Health professionals must be able to communicate not only among themselves, but mainly with clients, family members, medical and nursing officials and departments and clinic management. After working some years in health care facilities, professional burnout and fatigue can appear as a result of experienced stress (24). The objective of this thesis was to determine total cholesterol levels and BMI values in the medical staff working shift and night work in the wards, and in the staff working in a single-shift in out-patient departments in České Budějovice hospital, Inc. Another objective was to ??compare these values in relation with the regime of workers, their food and biorhythms. To meet these objectives, quantitative research was chosen which was conducted through questionnaires. Qualitative research was also carried out by determination of total cholesterol levels in the blood, by measuring height and weight of the medical staff members who filled out questionnaires, and calculating their BMI. The research has concluded that the hypothesis 1: Irregular work regime has an effect on cholesterol levels and weight, was not confirmed. Hypothesis 2: Irregular eating has an effect on cholesterol levels and weight, was confirmed, and Hypothesis 3: Biorhythm of an individual, disturbed by irregular work regime, has an effect on cholesterol levels and BMI, was neither confirm or refuted. I would like to provide the results of my research to the České Budějovice hospital management, to individual wards and departments officials as well as nursing staff members.

Hypothermia in paramedic practice
LOUŽENSKÁ, Petra
This thesis deals with the topic of hypothermia in a rescuer's practice. Hypothermia is one of the reasons, why rescuers intervene. The problem of hypothermia is known for many years and the stress is laid on in it during the first aid. Hypothermia is a very serious condition which is needed to be solved without any suspension. Rescuers who work at Water rescue service deals with hypothermia the most. Their first task is to find a hypothermic person, move him to a safe place and give him a professional aid. Then they provide a transport to the hospital by Emergency medical services. In the theoretical part of my thesis is explained what is hypothermia, other related terms, description of manifests and a treatment of hypothermia is also mentioned. The next chapter mentions groups of people who are threatened the most. The last chapter deals with Emergency service. The research part of the thesis consists of qualitative method using questionnaires. It contains both polar and non-polar questions. At the beginning of the questionnaire there are three personal questions which are aimed at sex, education and how long do you do for Water rescue service. Other questions are aimed at rescuer's techniques and means. Rescuers working at Water rescue services were addressed. They were from South Bohemia, Central Bohemia and Vysocina Region. The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate methodical techniques, certain activities and following care provided by the rescuers at Water rescue services while they are saving a hypothermic person. The theoretical part of my thesis could be used as a study material for everyone who studies to be a rescuer. On the bases of the research part's results a description of methods for rescuers will be compiled. This will be useful for rescuers who work at Water rescue services.

Anti-oxidative stress response in Drosophila melanogaster - The role of adipokinetic hormone and adenosine
ZEMANOVÁ, Milada
In this thesis, the phenomena of the oxidative stress (OS) and anti oxidative stress responses in insects are described in a comprehensive review, and the outcomes of the experimental work are presented. The focus of the work was on defence reactions and their putative control by the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) and adenosine in the Drosophila melanogaster model. For this purpose, we studied the effect of the paraquat (oxidative stressor) treatment on adult flies and larvae carrying mutations in Akh (Akh1) and adenosine receptor (AdoR1) genes, and in both these genes together (Akh1 AdoR1 double mutant). The initial mortality tests revealed the double mutant Akh1 AdoR1 was more sensitive to OS than either of the single mutants. The AKH synthesis under the OS condition seems to be out of the gene expression control, since the increase of an AKH amount in CNS was not linked with the stimulation of Akh gene expression after a paraquat treatment. Further, the gene expression of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione S transferase D1 (GstD1) increased rapidly with OS, though the enzyme activity increased negligibly regardless of both the OS and mutations. Interestingly, the relative expression of GstD1 gene was minimal in the double Akh1 AdoR1 mutant; thus, it was concluded that both AKH and adenosine are employed in the GstD1 gene expression control. Similarly, AKH and adenosine seem to act in tandem in glutathione (GSH) regeneration, since the GSH level was significantly lower in all untreated deficient flies with the maximal effect in the Akh1 AdoR1 double mutant; accordingly, the reduction in the GSH level was enhanced by paraquat treatment. Altogether, the important roles of both AKH and adenosine in the anti oxidative stress response in D. melanogaster were demonstrated.

Effect of high temperature and water shortage stresses duration during anthesis on the selected winter wheat yield formation components
Hlaváčová, Marcela ; Rapantová, Barbora ; Surá, Kateřina ; Klem, Karel ; Hlavinka, Petr ; Trnka, Miroslav
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of drought and high temperatures on Tobak winter wheat variety during one of the most sensitive developmental stage (anthesis) from the viewpoint of harvest index (HI) and spike productivity (SP). The 5 growth chambers (where the plants were exposed to these stress factors) were used for these purposes. The various protocols consisting in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) course, relative air humidity (RH) and daily temperature courses were run. The plants were divided into 2 groups within each growth chambers: (1) Drough-stressed (Dry) and (2) well-watered (Wet). Two lengths of stresses duration were tested: 3 and 7 days. The plants were exposed to ambient weather conditions up to the full maturity after stresses exposition within the growth chambers. Subsequently, the plants were harvested manually and HI and SP were evaluated. The statistical analyses showed that the effect of each stress factor separately was statistically significant both for HI and SP14, nevertheless, these two factors interaction was statistically significant only in the case of HI.

Effect of drought stress on selected winter wheat yield formation components within pot and field experiimental design
Hlaváčová, Marcela ; Pohanková, Eva ; Klem, Karel ; Hlavinka, Petr ; Trnka, Miroslav
The object of this study was to find out what is the behaviour of the same winter wheat variety (Bohemia) plants cultivated within pot and field experiment. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to verify (based on the pot experiment results) whether the pot experiment (that is limited by the soil area) does not substantially affect plant reactions. The pot experiment was carried out in growth chambers where daily temperature course, relative humidity (RH) and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) were set via protocols. The pots were exposed to the drought stress for 14 days with the daily maximum temperature 26 °C from noon to 2 p.m. The pots were split into 2 groups: (1) Dry where the soil moisture within pots were maintained below 30% of the maximum water holding capacity, (2) Wet where the soil moisture did not decrease below 70% of the maximum water holding capacity. The plants within Wet variant were considered as a control group. The pots were placed onto the concrete floor of a vegetation hall (where the plants were exposed to the weather conditions) prior and after stress regime exposition. The field experiment was conducted within experimental station in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem belonging to the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in the Czech Republic. The drought stress was established through the transparent roofs installed above plants’ tops level in the field. The control experimental plot without roofs was nearby there as well. The plants were harvested when the full maturity was reached and the selected yield formation components were evaluated.

Analysis of the negative aspects of the lifestyles of members of the Army of the Czech Republic
ŠOLC, David
The Bachelor´s project is focused on negative apsects of life style of members of Army of the Czech republic. The project is devided into twoo parts, theoretical and practical. First part describes not only general attributes of life style, but also negative aspects of life style e.g. stress, drugs, alcohol, smoking and relationships. The second part of the project describes how much negative apects of life style have influence on military personnal of Army of the Czech republic. Total number of respondents were 100, 17 female and 83 male. Average age was from 25 to 44 years. Results of the survey were noted into pie chart. 70% of respondents knew exactly what he terms bossing and mobbing mean, 30% of them have no idea what the terms mean, but the precise meanings are not sure. No one answered, he did not know what they mean imagine. For the ACR from my research it is clear that most physical activity takes place 3 - 4 times a week we answered 40% of the 100 respondents. In second place were respondents who engaged in physical activity 1 - 2 times a week and 5-6 times that percentage is 30% in both cases. No one answered that physical activity does not exercise at all, and no one carries physical activity 7 times or more times a week. Furthermore, 30% of respondents answered by 100 respondents did not smoke and do not mind smokers and 30% responded that they do not smoke and smokers can not stand. 20% of respondents are current smokers and 20% smoke occasionally. No one answered that it is a heavy smoker and no one is cured smoker. 90% of respondents nevyskoušelo and do not plan to try any drug. Only 10% said that marijuana or hashish experience Theky have. All of these results are shown in pie charts.

Experiences of children with preparation for medical examination and intervention
HEJDUKOVÁ, Dana
The topic of my thesis is "Experiences of children with preparation for medical examination and intervention". Children are more sensitive and therefore more vulnerable, with respect to their age and development it is necessary to carefully consider what to tell them and how. Each child has the right for sufficient information given at the right time and the right way, taking into account its age and intellectual maturity. Adequate communication protects a child from stress and needless anxiety. The theoretical section of the thesis is divided into 3 parts. The first one deals with the child's right to information and also the game specialist profession. The second part focuses on the psychological preoperative preparation in general, communication specifics in dealing with children and on preparation at different periods of age. The third part is devoted to the physical preoperative preparation. The empirical section has two objectives. The first one is to see if in children's wards the child´s preparation before examination or medical intervention is performed and by whom. The second objective is to determine whether the preparation performed affects fear and anxiety experienced by the child prior to the examination or intervention. In the research section the qualitative research technique of non-standardized interview was used. The interview the individual, anonymous, was conducted with the consent of the child and its parents, sometimes with participation of the parents. The research survey was carried out between October 2009 and February 2010. The research sample consisted of 19 respondents (11 girls and 8 boys), children aged 5 to 17 years who underwent an examination or medical intervention in 5 hospitals of the Czech Republic. The outcomes of the research show that most respondents were preparing for the examination by their mothers or doctors in a medical facility, one third of respondents were not given any concern in this respect. The most frequently used form of the preparation was oral communication. The preparation carried out by the game specialist was the best appreciated by the children. The preparation decreased the respondents´ feeling of fear or anxiety. The findings and results of the survey may provide the medical facilities management with an incentive to improve the quality of nursing care provided in terms of children´s informedness as required by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine and the Charter of the Rights of the Hospitalized Child.

Comparison of approaches to storing linked open data
Hanuš, Jiří ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a detail description of current possibilities and ways of storing open data. It focuses on tools and database systems used for storing linked open data as well as on the selection of such systems for subsequent analysis and comparison. The practical part of the thesis then focuses on the comparison of selected systems based on a selected use case. This thesis introduces the fundamental terms and concepts concerning linked open data. Besides that, various approaches and formats for storing linked open data (namely file ori-ented approaches and database approaches) are analyzed. . The thesis also focuses on the RDF format and database systems. Ten triplestore database solutions (solutions for storing data in the RDF format) are introduced and described briefly. Out of these, three are cho-sen for a detailed analysis by which they are compared with one another and with a rela-tional database system. The core of the detail analysis lies in performance benchmarks. Ex-isting performance oriented benchmarks of triplestore systems are described and analyzed. In addition to that, the thesis introduces a newly developed benchmark as a collection of database queries. The benchmark is then used for the performance testing. The following systems have been tested: Apache Jena TDB/Fuseki, OpenLink Virtuoso, Oracle Spatial and Graph a Microsoft SQL Server. The main contribution of this thesis consists in a comprehensive presentation of current possibilities of storing linked open data.
